Well…it was busy yesterday but I am going to make sure that today is easier…but, I am going to go out and have a new stereo put in the car in about an hour…I did have dreams last night that included Czech women, water towers, and horse drawn wagons…don’t ask me how it all fits together but it did at the time…and, I didn’t sleep well and was back up at 5:30 this morning so the trip to the casino with G isn’t going to happen….and I’m not really a gambler so it doesn’t have any attraction to me…I am going to put the top down on the way out to ABC if it’s not raining….waiting to hear from T about the B-52 concert last night…not a place I would have wanted to be with the cold and rain…Okay…have a few things to do before I take off so I will end here….more later…
Not going to get behind…
Well…it has been some sort of a day and much busier than I like but I did get to see T for lunch so that made it a little better…I was going to do a political one but I cleaned up the papers and don’t feel like digging them out again….oh, there is one thing that I wanted to talk about…with all of the budget cutting and hatred of any stimulus for the economy by the repubs, we are seeing exactly what Keynes predicts…that is that with the federal, state, and local cuts that have taken place, the economy is slowing down…exactly what the repubs were trying to do to make sure that Obama is not reelected. Never mind that it is hurting the country, the repubs are all about winning the political battles no matter what the cost is…one of the most Un-American things I have seen in my lifetime….and shame on them….how do you sleep at night?
June 1st
Well…it was a night out last night with G for a couple and then back here for one more and I still feel a little crappy from yesterday and not eating enough but I’ll fix that today I hope….I do feel good that I caught up and made the goal for the month and I am not going to get that far behind again…I am still really gunshy in the car even in normal driving and I hope that goes away soon…it’s preventing me from enjoying driving and that’s about all I have left in my life…I am really starting to like the new car…it just reminds me of simpler times and cars and I need that right now….I will be back later for more but right now I need water and the couch….I do get to have lunch with T today so I have to get ready for that, too….

Well…this one is going to meander a bit since I have a couple of topics that I want to cover…first, I read an article in the Detroit News…yeah, I know, a right wing rag that I should stop supporting, by the idiot Michael Barone, who asserts that it is unhealthy to only listen to news, or talk to, or associate with people from your end of the political spectrum…and the funniest part is that he was attributing that behavior to those of us in the middle and on the left. My jaw just about dropped since I don’t know of any republican that watches anything other than Fox News or listens to anything but the right wing echo machine. Talk about projection there Mikey? It is the right’s exclusive purview to be ignorant; to listen to no one but those on the right, and to build a worldview that consists of the talking points of the day….man, what a load of crap.
The second thing I wanted to talk about here is the resurgence of the nonsense of birtherism, driven by the rantings of the Donald and now, even the repub candidate for one of the senate seats from here in Michigan..I can’t believe…well, yeah, I can…that ole Mitt would be seen with Trump since he is eleven ways of crazy…then we have Pete Hoekstra here in Michigan that thinks we should have a “commission” that would certify that people that are running for president are eligible for the office…just a more disguised shot at Obama than the normal birther crap…this from a guy that thinks it would be just peachy to allow oil drilling in the Great Lakes…where do they find these idiots? Geez….and that makes the goal for the month!!!!

Well…just finished watching the press conference where Nick Lidstrom announced his retirement and it is a sad day for those of us who love the Wings but even more than that, it is a sad day when the classiest person in hockey, or any sport really, leaves the game. Nick has been the one constant since I have avidly followed the Wings and this will diminish the fervor somewhat I’m afraid….one thing that is gone for me is the confidence that when an opposing player breaks away and comes down the ice, that Nick will handle it….there were many times, watching with my friends, that I said out loud when that happened, “we’ll be okay, Nick’s got it..” and now I can’t say it anymore and that is going to be hard….
So, I’ll leave it at this….thanks Nick….it is cool when someone adds more to the world than they take…we’ll all miss you…
May 31st
Well…it was a day yesterday and nice surprise to see T for a few minutes…and out to shoot pool which I won but I was not good last night so I feel a little low..and the US just looked terrible playing Brazil which does not look good for World Cup qualifying later this month…I am going to do a sports one for later since Nick Lidstrom is going to announce his retirement later this morning and I do need to watch the news conference…and do the grocery run in a few minutes so I’m going to keep this one short….only two more to go for the month and it looks like I’m going to make it…

Well…not sure how long this one is going to be since I just started thinking about it about 10 seconds ago…so, let’s see where it goes and if it’s worthwhile. As you know, I have been an outspoken critic of the cozy relationship that the repubs have with business interests here in the US, at most times, looking like they are the governing arm of the corporations; giving them whatever they want in the guise of “job creation” and getting government “out of the way”….themes that they still parrot and push even with the financial meltdown that was largely caused by the deregulation of the industry by the repubs. I will say that the dems were complicit in this nonsense either by stupidity or political expediency and they share the blame…but let’s not let false equivilency muddy the waters here…by and large, it was the repubs doing. So, where is this going? Oh, I just read that businesses and billionaires are planning to try to buy this election with over 1 billion dollars of advertising attacking the dems and pushing the hard right agenda….I fear for our democracy if this nonsense is allowed to continue…and I fault the American people for listening to the nonsense and not doing their duty as Americans to find out the facts before they vote….geez…
May 30th
Well…another night of being good and I should feel better than I do…it’s almost certain it’s the allergies and I may even have to start taking something for it…did not sleep well last night but you’ve heard that before….I am almost caught up with these and forgot that May has 31 days which will help me get there….I may go out for coffee this morning for the first time in a couple of months and I will put the top down on the car….but, after that, I do need to get the old tv out of here today and I just lifted it and my back held out so I think I’ll give it a try…and then it’s trying to get back to the old routine and just cleaning and cooking today….more later….
How about a politcal one?
Well…there are more and more lies coming out of Romney again today..or maybe it was yesterday…who knows other than when he opens his mouth, you have a better than even chance to bet that it will be another lie…I still can’t understand that he doesn’t understand that there is videotape on all of this crap he is saying…I think he is counting on the fact that the media has gotten lazy and only a few reporters are trying to call him on this nonsense. The specific speech in the last couple of days took Obama to task; saying that the government stimulus actually held back the economy…spouting some weird, right wing propaganda that has no basis in economic fact. But the big lie is that, in 2009, he was on board with stimulus and the need for it in a severe downturn and made plenty of speeches that supported it….instead of an etch a sketch…people should be bringing flip flops to his rallies and waving them in the air…this man has no core…he learned nothing from that ivy league education…or he is just the worse sort of pandering liar that litters our political landscape these days…someone who would have been laughed off the stage 30 years ago…geez…
A trail update…
Well…with all that has been going on over the past couple of weeks, I ignored a couple of milestones that I do want to share….as of today, I went over 1100 miles for the year and it’s not even June yet…well ahead of any other year but it was the ridiculous early weather that got me the head start….and, this is the big one, I went over 10,000 miles on this bike since I bought it! I won’t do the tired cliches of how far that is in comparison…but it is a long way and I feel pretty good about it….only two short now….
