July 26th

Well…I think I’m getting old…just feel tired this morning and the brain is not working too well…it’s not the SF but it may have had a contributing effect…so, this one is going to be short so I can get in the shower and head for coffee….more later….

Didn’t write enough this morning to make this a part two…so I thought I’s add it to this one…not a lot to do today except out with G later this evening and, in a pleasant surprise, having lunch with T again this week either Wed or Fri…that will be fun. Yeah, I know, my writing is not very good today…but it feels the same way in my head..kind of disjointed and sticky…no flow at all…so, I’ll have lunch and come back later to try again…that one will have to be a part two, I guess…

July 25th

Well…it’s 9:18 and again, I have everything done that I wanted to do today…except write this which I’m doing now and then it will be 9:25 and I’ll really have everything done. Not much going on today…last night’s Dr. Who on BBC America was a good one with none of the contrived cliffhangers that usually grace season finales. What else about today….oh, will probably have a limited SF but with K in Chicago, it looks like just C and I but that is okay…probably go to Vinnie’s and play some Keno and drink cheap beer. that’s about it for now…I did work up some outrage yesterday if you look down to the next one…going to try to do that again today but I’m not sure how successful I’ll be…we’ll see….

Corporate responsibility….yeah, right…

Well…I hope you’ve heard of this new scheme by corporations and led by the US Chamber of Commerce that is going to “push back” against any new corporate regulations by the use of lawsuits against government agencies such as the EPA or the MSHA as Massey Energy CEO Don Blankenship has vowed. Do you remember who Don is? He is the CEO that presides over the most egregious violator of mine safety rules….violations that resulted in the deaths of 29 miners in one of his mines. He thinks that the government should let business self-police themselves and cloaks his opposition to any regulation as being necessary to his “pursuit of happiness” that is guaranteed in the constitution.

I am dumfounded by his and other CEO’s, like Tony Hayward of BP’s, attitude toward the damage that they do to the country; then play the role of the aggrieved, like the big bad government is not playing fair. The Chamber of Commerce went so far as to put out a press release saying the government should have paid for the Gulf oil spill, not BP, while talking out of the other side of their mouths and bitching about government spending and the deficits. Oh, I guess it’s okay for the government to bail out BP but not to approve the extension of unemployment benefits; it’s okay for the Chamber to lobby against the extension through their repub cronies? Out of the third side of their mouths they lobbied for the passage of the 800 billion dollar bailout. Why? Because the benefits went to the members of the Chamber. Corporate leaders have shown that they have no sense of responsibility to anyone but themselves…we’ve allowed them to self police for the last 8 years…how did that work out for you?..Come on people, we need to push back against these corporate crooks…e-mail your congresspeople and tell them that you want a level playing field…and without corporate regulation it will never be level…

c’mon tea partiers….you should want to take back your country from the corporations…not Obama…geez….

July 24th part two….

Well…don’t you just love it when you have a clean fridge? Yep…finally did do something that I said I was going to…I guess it was all of that coffee I had watching the F1 stuff this morning…got out on the bike and even rode over to the veg stand to get some more home-grown tomatoes…you know, the ones that taste like tomatoes. Probably won’t do much the rest of the day, will probably even wait until tomorrow to post anything else since this is a no newspaper day; I have to take at least one day off or my head will explode with all of the heat that is in the news today. But, who knows, I could see something on TV that might make me want to comment…

July 24th

Well…took it easy last night and feel pretty good this morning…have already been out to the grocery store again and now I’m having coffee and watching F1 qualifying. I AM going to get on some cleaning today starting with the fridge since there is no room to put anything new in it….it’s strange how you collect half empty bottles and other stuff over time…and the spills are starting to gross me out so that will be done today. Not much else to report but there will be more later today since I have no other plans…and the rain is going to be around for a while so no bike until later…but I am looking forward to going out. More later…

A little note of thanks….

This is something that I have been thinking about for a while now…Just wanted to say thanks to those of you who have visited this little slice of my mind, some of you even come back every day and I hope that there are times that it is worth your while…that I can get the conversation started on the things that I think are important and that are important to you. I know that the daily writing has given me more discipline and I have something to look forward to everyday; something that is quite rare when you are Overqualified and Unemployed. I promise that I’ll try hard not to waste your time; but if you’ve read this at all, you know that I’m not successful all of the time…but if I’ve made you laugh or think just a couple of times, that will be enough for me.

So, to my readers I say thank you, and I sincerely hope you’ll keep coming back if just so see how far off the rails I’ve gone….

Ole GW being resurrected?

Well…I guess the new rage among the repub liars is to look back on the Bush years with fondness…ignoring the statistical fact that the entire 8 years was a bust for everyone but the rich. They have even begun to blame the recession on Obama…since it started when it looked like he was going to be elected. Yep, I’m not kidding you…I think it was Boehner who started this new line of craziness but then, as always happens, the right-wing smear machine picks it up and runs with it. To those who continue to vote for these idiots I have one question “were you better off at the start of GW’s terms or the end?” A simple question that has a simple answer…if you’re not in the top 5%, you were worse off…..

I know we have selective memory here in the US so that is why I have to keep repeating all the time what a bust those 8 years were…and now people want to go back there? Why? To be spied on? To have more trumped up wars that the repubs vowed Iraqi oil would pay for? To allow business to steal what is left of the country from you and me? I think the tea partiers have the wrong target when they want to “take back our country”…it should be from the alliance of the repubs and business. Geez….

Do we really want this stuff again?

Well…I’m sure you know and I continue to point out how the repubs are so gung-ho for business to be unregulated; especially the financial industry…going so far as to call for the new regulations signed into law this week to be repealed before they even take effect. I don’t think the new regs go far enough…as evidenced by the revelations that all of the banks and insurance companies that were bailed out by you and me had continued to pay immoral bonuses to their employees…as a reward for what this time? Doing such a good job of trashing the economy? One of the firms is on track this year to pay out a record 30 BILLION dollars in those bonuses all the while saying it is too risky to lend to small business so they continue to do nothing but take, take, take and further concentrating money and power in the hands of the few. How can the repubs think this is a good idea? And, how can people that are being hurt by these shenanigans continue to support these guys and vote for them?

I know it sounds like I’m repeating myself but someone has to keep saying the emperor has no clothes….I think a tax rate of 80% on these bonuses is in order or make them non tax deductible….lets make it harder for these guys to steal, not easier….geez…

had to pass this along….

Well…the world has officially gone crazy…read in the news this morning that there is a brewery on Scotland that is making beer that sells for $765 a bottle but that is not the best part…they only made 9 bottles and the bottles come wrapped in dead animals. Yep…dead squirrels, weasels, and rabbits that have the bottles sewn inside and you pour through their mouths. I’ve been on this earth a long time but I think this is one of the weirdest things I have ever seen…more later…

July 23rd

Well…another night out with G last night but I don’t feel nearly as crappy as I thought I would so maybe today I’ll get to some topics that you want to read…I do have a comment on the ongoing efforts by the repubs to scrub ole GW’s image and blame all of the lingering effects of his policies on Obama. So that one will be later this morning after I get groceries and coffee…I think I may have to stop going out for a while….two days in a row and I am quite run down both mentally and physically. No plans for the weekend yet and that may be a good thing…I can use the rest…more later…

What you never want to be….
