Well…to some people, this is a joyous Star Wars day, but to me, even more than 50 years later, it is a day of sorrow for the 4 students that were killed at Kent State University for exercising their 1st amendment rights to protest the Vietnam war….and Neil Young’s “Ohio” rings in my ears every year on this day…”what if you knew her, and found her dead on the ground?” Okay, this is supposed to be about my life…and this is part of my life as a 16 year old kid at the time…this might be a day of introspection for me…but I need to get to it…had an okay day yesterday but didn’t get enough done for me….kind of have this day roughed out with needing to go pay a bill and trying to get another 6 pairs of socks, mowing the lawn, and then getting two rides in….I stayed with the one meal plan yesterday and I think I’m feeling it right now…just so damn worn out and my right thumb has been hurting every time I move it…I really, really hate getting old….it is finally going to warm up a bit today and it is not too soon for that….it’s only 38 out there and I hope spring is finally going to come….not much to do today…have to sit here til 9 or so and I haven’t even had my first cup of coffee yet…so I better get one poured….more later…
It’s been a day…
Well…I don’t know why I keep myself so busy every day but I do…today started out with the grocery run to three stores…and I even got some new socks at Menards of all places and I like them a lot…they are made by dockers and are a lot taller than normal crew socks and have so much elastic in them they feel like compression socks…got 6 pairs for 5.54 and I may just go back tomorrow and get another bundle…then I got the first ride in, had lunch, did the second ride and now it’s 3 and I am taking some time off as I wait for the care packages that are coming from my daughter via UPS…and tomorrow is going to be pretty busy, too with I hope two outdoor rides and mowing the lawn…it’s finally going to warm up to near 60 and that will be welcome after all the cold weather and rain…it’s still only 50 out here right now so I’m just going to let this day go and not do any outdoor work…still staying with one meal today since I had a big chunk of lasagna for lunch and I don’t think I’ll be hungry at all the rest of the day…
It’s just refreshing…
Well…I really do need to thank the people behind the ballot initiative that took plotting of the voting districts out of the hands of politicians so the repubs couldn’t gerrymander and cheat to keep control of the government here in Michigan…now, if I’m honest, the dems did it, too but not anywhere to the extent of the repubs…and the follow on for that was, with fair districts, the dems took control of all parts of Michigan government for the first time in 40 years…and the result of that is we have a government that works for the people again…not for the crazy right wing assholes that were running it before…you know the ones, who would have made 50+% of the people in Michigan second class citizens by taking away the control of their bodies…and do you know why there haven’t been any anti trans legislation here? Because the dems control the government…in fact, they have expanded discrimination protection to all LGBTQ people in this state…and have passed sensible gun control legislation that mandates background checks for all gun sales…it is just refreshing that we now have a government that is not run by a small group of right wing assholes….let’s keep it up, Michigan…
May 3rd
Well…up at 4:50 this morning but stayed in bed til almost 7 but I feel like I’ve been up for days…and I’m thinking that maybe staying under 1K calories for the past few days is not such a good idea…had an okay day yesterday but didn’t get much done…I was going to try to get on the bike before the grocery run but I just couldn’t muster up the energy for it…so that means an indoor ride when I get back and then maybe an outdoor one later but the high today is only going to be 52 and I don’t want to put the thermasuit on again….at least it looks like no rain today and it’s going to be in the low 70’s over the weekend…I hope…the packages my daughter is sending are supposed to be here this afternoon and I am looking forward to it…I’ve been called stylish wearing those hand me downs and they are pretty nice….I’ll be ready to replant the garden as soon as the weather breaks and that could be over the weekend….not much to do today…don’t have to cook since I have leftover lasagna for two more days, then I’m going to make sausage tacos and I have some pork chops that I found at Meijers yesterday for 1.49 a pound….almost too much food so I won’t buy any protein today…I really should clean some today but with how I feel right now, that’s not going to happen….more later…
Got a few things done…
Well…I won’t say it was a busy day today but I did get two rides in, ran an errand, and did laundry so that’s not nothing but I didn’t accomplish a lot…at least don’t feel like I did…oh, I did go out and fill the bird feeder…does that count as something? I think I’m going down to one meal a day from now on since I feel like I’m gaining weight again so now I’ll be under 1K calories per day now…at least the weather is going to break on Thursday and get to 60 or so…will need to mow the lawn Thurs, too, and I got the gas for that today….something weird is happening with my bills…got on the Capital One app yesterday to pay my bill and they say I don’t owe anything…I know I put the 225 buck copay for the MRI on it but maybe it was after the deadline and it will come up next month…and my gas account shows that I overpaid by 51 bucks so I don’t owe anything there either..how the hell can that be? I pay what they say I owe every month and there is no way I paid 51 bucks more than I owe…strange…I will keep checking until it’s due to make sure I don’t miss the payment….I am going to wait another week to replant the garden but it looks like the freeze is over for this spring and I could do it over the weekend…going to just dump all of the 11 cent a pack seeds in the south end of the garden where ones I put in earlier are coming up…have radishes to put in along with cukes and parsley but I am going to make a diagram of what is where so I’ll know what is where…now it’s time to get the grocery list done for tomorrow…getting two more big packages of clothes from my daughter tomorrow and I’m a little excited about that…might even be able to get one outdoor ride in…

Well…I wonder if it’s me or if it’s there’s not as much happening in the news that is causing me to continue to have a hard time finding political topics to talk about here? I could talk about how Alito is whining his crybaby head off because nobody like him…hey sammie, why wouldn’t everybody like someone who took rights away from 50% of the population and has taken bribes to rule for the money men that is ruining this country…who wouldn’t want to protect that? Or I could talk about the latest scandal about how you and your repub buddies on the court have been given lavish Italian vacations under the guise that you criminals would be “teaching” a course at one of the universities there that you never show up for….or how Kavanaugh’s debt and house was paid for by someone the he never reported or the fact that the “investigation” into his background wasn’t even done at all…whoever was running the FBI at the time just said they did it….and there were 5,000 tips about his crimes that were just buried…is that what should be protected, sammie? I have had enough of these thin skinned whiners crying because everyone doesn’t love them…what a bunch of crap…
May 2nd
Well…damn, it was a struggle to get out of bed this morning and I thought it was around 8 when I crawled out but it was only 6:40…and I am worn out again….it’s 7:16 and I just poured the first cup of coffee and it’s only 37 outside…just read that there is a snowstorm coming for the upper mitten today and that is just about perfect for how there has been no spring this year….I am just so damn tired of the cold…it’s frickin May and I’m still wearing the winter clothes in here….aarrgh….okay, I’ll stop whining now…had an okay day yesterday but didn’t get anything done but riding the bike and watching the birds empty the feeder….the Bluejays were all over it and that’s started again today…I could hear them when I was lying in bed trying to wake up….and guess what we have out here today? Yep, another gale warning and the wind is already howling….gusts of up to 50 today…I think I need to write down all the things I need to do today so I’ll remember them…so that means an errand to do this morning with getting gas for the mower and the car and some groceries, too…think I’ll do that after the first ride….but right now I just need more coffee….more later…
A lazy day…
Well…it’s been a lazy day for me with only doing the two bike rides and cooking but not much else….the lasagna came out great and I really like it with sausage and not hamburger…and at 1.49 a pound it’s a third of the price of burger….I think I’ll be going out to get the ingredients for soft tacos tomorrow since I have to pick up gas for the lawnmower to mow Thursday and I need to pick up the antibiotics I need for prep for the second biopsy in a couple of weeks…it is only 37 degrees out here right now and it’s raining and snowing and that is depressing…and we have two more days of that coming…but then it warms up to almost 70 for the weekend so there will be lots of 45 mile days in the next few weeks to make up for the week off the bike after the biopsy…and I will be planting some tomatoes, peppers, and beans later this week or into the weekend…. and then taking the rest of the seeds I have left and just pouring them in the garden to see what comes up…have some dill and arrugula to go in there…but right now, I’m going to go down and water the plants in the cups…
What the hell is wrong with these people?
Well…you’ve heard me rant about the media and how it both sides every issue even when there is only one right side to it…and now they’ve started that crap back up again when dealing with Joe Biden’s accomplishments over the past two plus years…going so far as to push the idea that because Joe didn’t get all of his promises done, people are so disappointed that they are going to vote for the idiot trump in the 2024 election…yeah, no, that’s not going to happen to anyone who has a brain…Joe has accomplished more for regular people than any president in my lifetime and I’m old…and the media is still trying to report on the horse race between two people instead of any policies that the candidates put forth…and that’s where they need to change since no one wants the repubs policies at all except for the rich and corporations…on every other issue people like what Joe has done and is proposing but very few people know how much he’s done since the media can’t be bothered to report on it…and I think Joe could do a better job of selling his accomplishments than he has done…he has the “bully pulpit” of the presidency to use to do that so get after it, Joe…geez…
May 1st
Well…it’s May 1st and it’s only 36 degrees and that really sucks…and it’s only getting to 41 today but there is a warm up is coming later in the week so I can make it til then….didn’t get a lot done yesterday and took the day off the bike so I will need to do two rides indoors this morning but I don’t want to…I’m tired of having discipline but it’s me so I’ll get to it here in a bit…it’s raining right now and it looks to keep that up for the whole day…it’s even snowing out there some…going to stay in here today where it kinda warm….I did make the lasagna yesterday that will need to be baked for lunch and I should go out and get the ingredients to make some sausage tacos and I might but that could wait til Wed when I do the normal grocery run…I’ll have lasagna to eat til then and I have other things in the freezer that can be used….feel pretty worn out today so it’s hard to get going and I even have pain in my side that I have no clue how I got…it’s another one of those sleep pains that pop up….I did wake up at around 4 this morning and got out of bed at 7:12 which is the address of the house I grew up in….weird….not much to do today…just need to get the ride in before noon since the nascar race was postponed to today…and I think I’ll take a nap to it….more later…
