Well…it’s cold and snowing outside so climate change can’t be real…I’ve actually read that in the media today and when I hear it, I wonder why people would say it…are they so ignorant they don’t understand the science behind it? You don’t make profit from it unless you’re an oil company so why would the ordinary person go out of their way to deny it’s happening? Is it they fell for the right wing propaganda? Look, scientists have been shouting that CC was happening for almost 50 years now and their predictions have been proven to be way too conservative…the climate is getting worse faster than they predicted and that results in the warmest year in 100,000 years happening in 2023…and the next 10 have happened since 2008…so yes, we are warming the planet and we are quickly approaching the point of no return as we do noting about it…as an aside, the best state to be in to survive this emergency is Michigan since we are far enough away from the oceans to not have to worry about strengthening hurricanes or sea level rise and we have the great lakes for a water supply…it is predicted that we are going to have 30-100 million people in this country as climate refugees in the next 50 years who are trying to find some place safe to live as the coasts become uninhabitable due to flooding…but year…climate change is a hoax….morons…

This isn’t normal…
Well…look, I’m an old guy and I have never seen what is happening with the climate in the entire world…I mean half of the world is on fire…Lahina is gone…a 20,000 population city in Canada is evacuated along with one that has a population of 130,000…evacuated because the fires are so intense that they can’t be stopped….the island of Tenerife is on fire and they are going to evacuate the whole damn island…and new fires are popping up every day with how warming has dried out the world…and now for the first time in 90 years, a hurricane is going to hit California Sunday as a category 4 storm that is going to dump 22 inches of rain in the desert and on Los Angeles….and that is going to cause billions in damage…and yet the climate deniers keep saying the excess CO2 in the air has nothing to do with it even though Arizona has had 37 days in a row over 110 degrees and no rain in that time and the highest level of CO2 in the air in the past 100,000 years…so yes, climate change is real and it is baking the planet…and it is not going to get better until we stop burning gas and oil…we need a war like push to de-carbonize the entire planet and go with renewables…they are cheaper anyway so let’s do it…geez…
Climate change is really real…
Well…I don’t understand how anyone can still think that climate change is not real…and it not just weather…weather changes all time is what the deniers say…but that does not explain how Phoenix has had 37 days in a row of over 110 degree highs…the arctic has even had hundred degree temps this summer…in South America, it’s the middle of winter and 9,000 feet up in the Peruvian Andes it is over 100 degrees…temperatures that have never happened before…and this heat is melting the snow cover that people downstream depend on for water to survive in the summer…now that IS climate change, folks…these temperatures are higher than in Paris this summer that has caused heat emergencies all summer….we need to stop subsidizing the oil and gas companies and have a government program that will put solar cells on every house in this country…not low cost but free…I know that sounds socialist but the good things in this country comes from socialism…think roads, schools, and infrastructure….our taxes pay for that stuff and it can do the same for renewable energy…geez…
The two hottest days ever recorded…
Well…I wonder what the climate deniers are going to say about this? Monday and Tuesday of this week were the the two hottest days since records have been kept…and climate scientists have physical records in the trees and ground that it is the hottest two days in the past 140,000 years…with the highest concentration of co2 since that time, too…so what is the repub response to getting to the tipping point where whole ecologies are going to die? To try to outlaw doing anything about it and giving more subsidies to the oil giants to keep dumping more and more garbage into the air….if we just took the money we give to the oil companies every year and invested it in renewables, we could start digging ourselves out of the hole the fossil fuel industry has dug for the planet. People are dying all over the planet and no one wants to do anything about…I fear for my grandchildren and the world they are going to have to live in…geez…

Well…forgot about this little bit of news that was reported last week but I did want to talk a little about it…just last week, the owner of the clothing company Patagonia put the whole company in a trust so that all the profits, almost 100 million dollars a year, go toward fixing the climate crises that are ravaging the entire world…I mean how many times in your lifetime has there been a typhoon hitting Alaska like one did this week? And it’s nearly the end of September and it’s 84 degrees here in Muskegon? There really wasn’t any detail in the article on what the money will be used for but giving up a 2 billion dollar corporation is pretty damn cool and every penny that can be used to stop burning fossil fuel has to help…maybe I can get a grant to go solar here? That would be cool….
This is scary…
Well…just read a pretty scary article about the drought that has been widespread across the west where the rivers are essentially drying up with the lack of snow and rainfall and if conditions stay this way for much longer, places that depend on these rivers like Phoenix will become unlivable…and this is not something that is going to happen in the far future, but in the next decade or so. But that’s not the scary part, since droughts usually end at some point, water conservation and changes in lifestyle can get you through until the rains and snow come back….but this new study paints a much more dire picture, that climate change is causing the aridification of most of the west and the deserts that were once confined to the southwest are going to spread north to Colorado and that these changes are going to be permanent, making much of the west uninhabitable at the population density it now supports. and we have one party in this country that doesn’t even believe that any of this is happening, even though they can readily see that the Colorado river behind the Hoover dam is down almost 150 feet and towns that were flooded when the lake was filled are re-appearing since the water is so low. Soon, there won’t even be enough water to generate electricity from the dam and that will impact Las Vegas…but, they still do nothing…even repub reps from the states that are drying out still don’t care and are still blocking doing anything about it….one study says that with new information and data on the amount of heating it may already be too late to fix it even if we stop burning fossil fuels right now….but still the repubs will do nothing as the country burns…
Stupid people…climate is not weather…
Well…there are a bunch of memes going round out there about the polar vortex cold we’ve been having in the midwest over the past week or so and a lot of them show Lake Michigan freezing in one frame and then scenes from “the Day After Tomorrow” disaster film where the oceans freeze in the other…and they invariable try to use the cold weather as proof that climate change isn’t happening…and this crap is an ignorant right wing staple that starts with the idiot trump and winds it’s way through fox news and into the quite stupid trump followers. Hey, stupid people…weather is not climate…they are not the same thing and if you think climate change is not happening, give someone in Australia a call…and ask them about how hot it is this winter down under…..every damn record for high temps has been broken this winter all across Australia and most people there understand that this is not just weather that will change, as ours is here…when it is going to be 50 degrees with thunderstorms Monday…but it is long term, human caused climate change that will make a lot of Australia uninhabitable. Yes, it has been cold here…but any one weather event is just that…weather…which can be affected by climate change but no one that understands science would ever base conclusions on a sample size of one…something the science deniers on the right always do…just dumber than a box of rocks…geez…
Geez…trump is stupid…
Well…with the cold weather that is hitting the midwest, of course the stupident has to bleat out that it’s the coldest weather in history (it’s not) and then goes on to say that we could sure use some global warming right now…geez trump is stupid…and trying to score points with the idiot climate change deniers by his smug assed tweet. Okay, I’ll explain this one more time…as the arctic warms, from human action and burning fossil fuels, it disrupts the jet stream which then allows the polar vortex to split, this time into three parts that then results in cold air that would normally stay at the poles crashing down into the lower latitudes….the warming of the arctic has de-stabilized the weather patterns, making for large swings in temperatures…after this bitter cold, it is going to be 40 and raining Sunday…just showing how unstable the climate has become. But, as we know…the idiot trump only gets his “news” from fox and there must have been a denier or two on there this morning and trump just had to weigh in like a 5 year old…nope, a 5 year old in kindergarten knows more than trump….he is the most stupid person on the face of the Earth…impeach…
Grading on the curve…
Well…not sure how much I’ll be here over the next few days with getting ready to head out to Baltimore tomorrow and then on the move until I get home Sunday…but, I am taking my computer with me so I’ll try to come here for at least a short one every day.. But, first…I want to comment on the idiot in chief’s comments on the abject failures of his administration to deal with the hurricanes that hit the US last year…but, in the addled mind of idiot boy, he rated himself an A+ for his personal involvement and how well he did to help people that were hit by them…going so far as to say that, in secret, people are saying that it couldn’t have been handled any better…and people are going to find out soon how wonderful a job he did….hmmm…does that sound familiar? “Heck of a job, Brownie” is what ole GW had to say to his failure of a FEMA director and his response to Katrina where thousands died because of their ineptitude. Can you say “grading on a curve”…it’s an A+ that at least 3,000 and as many as 5,000 Puerto Ricans died on his watch due to the indifference that trump and his minions showed to the “brown” people that every damn one of his administration hates? And now we have another huge hurricane bearing down on the country and the only work being done is to steal money from FEMA to build more places to lock up immigrants? I really hope that this hurricane is not as bad as the forecast but maybe people need a shock that climate change is real and is resulting in more and stronger storms…and there are two more backed up right behind Florence and 4 more in the Pacific heading toward Hawaii…and folks, there has never been 7 storms at a time…ever in the history of records…so I wonder what could be causing it? Impeach…
Just a note…
Well…just wanted to note that I am going to lose my internet this afternoon so the second post of the day may be a little late….or I could do it now…okay…I’ll do it now….I don’t think I’ve ever seen 4 hurricanes at a time in the Atlantic and Gulf in my lifetime…and one like Irma…with the water in the Caribbean being warmer than ever on record, there is just so much fuel for these hurricanes that this is what the scientists have been saying was going to happen…that extreme weather is going to become more and more prevalent…and with the two other hurricanes following nearly the same track as Irma, we may see three category 5 hurricanes hitting the US in the span of two weeks…something that has never happened before…I just have this to say to the climate science deniers out there…you are idiots and there are consequences to your idiocy and denial…and it’s name is Harvey…and Irma….and Jose….and Katia….and the next one…geez….
