Schuette is still an idiot…

Well…with the bankruptcy filing in the city of Detroit, I was extremely surprised to hear that our AG, Bill Schuette, has come out to say that the state will defend the public sector pensions of the retirees of the city. Must have been a really hard thing for this tea party idiot to say since he normally picks and chooses which laws to enforce and almost always lets his personal beliefs dictate what those laws are. The thing is, though, the courts always slap him down and tell him he is wrong, and that is a good thing….and, I am going to make a prediction in this case that his true colors and his hatred of unions and the middle class will shine through….here’s what I predict: he will present a half-hearted defense of these constitutionally protected pensions; making sure that he he screws it up just enough so that the courts will slap him down, again…then, he will call a press conference to say that it’s not his fault…that it is the big, bad federal government that is taking the pensions and he will then go on to rail about socialism, Obamacare, and the fascist in the White House…typical tea party talking points and he will get what he wants…more talking points on how bad unions are since they can’t protect your pensions so you shouldn’t trust them or join them….I may be giving him too much credit for having the smarts to pull this off but with their drive to eliminate any power for the middle class, I would not be surprised….geez…

Bain Capital’s brand of capitalism…

Well…interesting research in the papers today that revealed some facts about ole Mitt’s tenure at Bain…and his new stump speech claiming that, while at Bain, the company never took any “bailouts” or government assistance of any sort. Mitt, Mitt, Mitt…I really don’t understand how you guys don’t understand that there are records out there, that things can be fact checked…and this one is just a huge lie…in two instances, Bain was bailed out of debt by the government…once with the FDIC forgiving 10 million dollars that was owed…and the other when they killed a steel company and then dumped the pension liabilities on the government to the tune of 45 million dollars while the execs at Bain walked away with 10 million in bonuses…yep, that’s ole Mitt’s form of capitalism…swoop in, gut a company, and then profit from pushing the liabilities of those companies on the taxpayers. I don’t see this as any different from any other bailout that happened over the past few years…just another case of the rich taking advantage of the system to steal from you and me…geez…

The hypocrisy disease has spread to Michigan…

Well…I hope you got the chance to read some of the news coming out of Michigan today…Gov Rick Snyder unveiled one of the primary ways he proposes to balance the budget here…and guess whose backs that one is going to be carried on? While proposing the repubs cut taxes on corporations here, his new proposal raises taxes on every retired person in Michigan by raising taxes on pensions, IRA’s, and Social Security. Nope, I’m not making this up folks, the tax cuts for the rich party, who blew a gasket when Granholm proposed higher taxes as a part of the deficit solution, now propose that people that worked their whole lives to get their meager pensions subsidize business by paying more taxes. And, that is exactly what this is, you and I and the rest of us workers are being asked to build better roads, utilities, and other infrastructure for business to take advantage of while they get to retain more of the highest profits in the history of the world as they continue to send jobs overseas and ask for more, and more, and more, concessions from you and I. Where is the outcry from the right who constantly spew that taxes are too high and who sabotaged the Granholm administration for 8 years ensuring we’d end up with an untenable financial position?

I hope this bunch of hypocrites are seen for what they truly are, lying shills for business who will be taken care of by business when they leave…..to make millions from the companies they have just rewarded…geez…
