Well….it has been a hot one and I didn’t get the bike fixed yet…broken welder and all that but should have it back by the weekend…there have been some developments that I did want to comment on…first…I am laughing to watch the repubs twist and turn and try to take political advantage of the ACA ruling…but, there are new polls that show the almost 60% of the people want to move on to try to fix the rest of the countries problems…not go back to re-legislate and litigate the health care battle. So, keep it up repubs, your opposition will work well with your base but the rest of the country is moving on and is going to leave you behind in November. Oh, other polls out today show that Obama is taking the lead in many of the swing states and among independents…so, again repubs, keep it up, whatever you are doing is working for us…I have glimmers of hope that the 1% may not be able to buy this election after all….yay!
One last thing…I just about gagged when tea party darling rep Joe Walsh started whining that his opponent…the veteran Tammy Duckworth, who lost both of her legs to an RPG in Iraq, talks about her war record saying that it’s unseemly that she trots out her injuries when she talks about her experiences….get over it Joe…she served, you didn’t and she gets to talk about her sacrifice any time she wants….last I saw, you still had all of your limbs….
Well…running late again today and again, I’m not sure why…it was an okay day yesterday and I did have a little fun meeting up with G for a couple..and the ride home at 11 with the top down was fun…that’s what having a convertible is all about…but, my allergies are in full kill mode this morning and I think it will be a day to take something for it…I’m pretty sure I don’t like all these 90+ degree days and I can’t remember the last time it was so warm for so long…looks like a couple of days of 100’s even this week…not sure why I feel so crappy today…must be the allergies…I do need to get ready to go out for coffee….not much to do today….it is pool day and Tom is going to try to weld the bike….I may have to start looking for an new one if this doesn’t work….
Well….as you know, I broke the bike last week and have been waiting for it to be welded…so, today I talk to the guy and he promises that he’ll do it today but raises his price for making 2 inches of welds to 75 bucks from the 25 bucks he quoted…so, after talking to Tom and having him offer to weld it, I went and picked the bike up since I wasn’t going to pay 75 bucks for a 10 minute job….after I got back here, the idiot from the welding shop called me and started bitching at me and told me he was the only one if GR that could do the weld and WHEN I brought it back to him the price would be double to 150 bucks…and, of course, I told him I would junk the bike before I’d ever let him touch it….what an ass….but, that was the only thing that has happened to me today…
Well…running late today and there really is no reason for it…been up since 6 or so but just couldn’t get motivated to do this until now…and I still don’t feel that good…stayed up until 1 and back up at 6; just not enough sleep but that can be rectified later today…have to go pick the bike up even though it’s not done…and then find someone that will really work on it…but, I am going to go get coffee first…not much else to do today…it is going to be hot all week but I’m not sure if I’m going back to the beach or not…we’ll see…more later…
Well…I completely forgot that today was the first day of free agency for the NHL and I thought I’d do what is probably going to be a running set up updates as the signings happen…there were a couple of developments today…not the big blockbuster that would come from signing Suter or Parise, but a couple of players that might help did sign. We’re familiar with Sammy (Mikel Samuelsson) who played for us on the last Stanley Cup team….and Jordin Tootoo from Nashville….Tootoo could add a little grit and meanness to the team but I am concerned sometimes when an abrasive player is added to our finesse team…but, the league is heading in that direction so maybe we have to keep up. One signing that I’m not so sure of is is the Swedish goalie that played for Toronto last year…and they gave this guy 1.5 million for 2 years…why not give one of the prospects in GR a chance? That’s what they are there for, after all.
Oh, the goaltender we signed is named Gustavsson….still not sure that was a good idea…especially with a 2.98 GAA and a.900 save pct from last year…
Well…running late this morning since I wanted to get the car washed early…and I did so that is one thing off my list for the day…it was a total veg day yesterday and T thought I should be cauliflower so I was…I did have some errands to run and it was nice to get out and talk to people for a change…slept okay but don’t really remember how well so I’m not going to comment on it…not much to do today…I am looking forward to the Spain/Italy soccer match later this aft and there is a 6 hour race on that I may watch part of…but that is about it…I should clean my kitchen later but I am just not motivated to do it right now…I am going to take a shower and then take it easy for a while….
Well…I did get to the last one for the month and I’m not sure if I feel good about it or what…didn’t have as many fillers as last month so maybe my head is starting to work again…I did find it funny the other day when ole Mitt was describing what his healthcare plan was…exactly the same as Obama’s but ole Mitt has no plan to pay for it…just like the two wars, the medicare drug plan…and everything else the repubs do…so who is more responsible? It’s just more of the same magical thinking that got us into the financial mess we find ourselves in…and, the rest of the ole Mitt’s agenda is just more of the same “trust us” nonsense they have pushed in Wisconsin and even here in Michigan…and how did that work out? I am just so exasperated that people find this kind of nonsense acceptable when they have seen the extreme right wing crap come out after the elections…do you think the repubs are going to change? Nope, not when they have billions of dollars coming from the 1% and corporations that will be used to lie, cheat, and steal…geez….
Well…it was just another day yesterday…just like all the rest and it is getting old….but, what’s the alternative? Slept okay last night but no dreams to speak of so that’s boring, too…okay…this isn’t working right now so I’m going to stop here…need to take a shower and go out for the papers and then back here for coffee…
Okay…I’m back and feeling better after coffee but the brain still is not working as I think it should…or maybe my life has just become so boring that even I’m not interested….not sure what I’m going to do today…it’s going to be hot again but I don’t mind it too much even without the air on…I do have an errand to run this morning but that’s about it…and I do have to do one more to make the goal so I do have that to look forward to…and they are capping my internet usage starting tomorrow so I’m listening to Pandora and watching Netflix all day today to get my money’s worth….then, I may just cancel Netflix since I’m not going to pay more to the cable company just to watch….more later…
Well…just poured a cocktail and thought I’d sit down to do another one before the race starts…and you know what this one’s about….just trying to make the goal for the month but I do have some things to share…I haven’t said anything about the bike lately but I broke it the other day…the tube that the seat post fits in shattered and I had to drop it off at a welding shop to see if I can get it repaired…still waiting for them to finish it but if they don’t get to it soon I’m going to try another place…I did find a new seat post today so I’ll be ready when the bike is….but, I do miss the exercise and I have had to cut my calorie intake back by almost 600…and, in a 1,500 calorie diet, that doesn’t leave much for the day and I think that is going to leave me feeling like crap for a while…but, that is doable and the car is okay so I guess things could be worse…and, after this one, I only have two to do tomorrow…there are some things I do want to comment on so I guess I should get at it….tomorrow, that is…right now it’s time to just relax for a while and watch the race…
Well…I marvel at times how the repubs became known as the “law and order” party when, here in Michigan, we have a repub AG that thinks he is the only person who determines what the law means…starting with the medical marijuana law (or I should say continuing with this law) which he opposed when it was put on the ballot a few years back, Mr. Schutte has formed a pattern of lawlessness that would make a bank robber proud. His latest nonsense came after the supreme court ruling on healthcare yesterday when he said that he would not take part in implementing the law saying that we should wait until after the election in November when he feels that the repubs will win the presidency and repeal the law. First, this man has a duty to all of the citizens of Michigan….not to just the hard right that he panders to on a daily basis and those of us that don’t have insurance would like the possibility of getting it that comes from the new law. Second, when did our constitution change to read that the AG could substitute his political decisions for the will of the people? The courts here have slapped this idiot numerous times, showing that he is not the great legal mind he thinks he is but just some overly political hack using his office to push his crazy far right agenda on the people. But, this is just the latest outrage from this man…and Governor Snyder should straighten him out today…geez….
