Well…it has been kind of a rough day with losing my sense of taste…well…not all of it but a lot of it and I was concerned enough to use one of my covid tests to make sure that it’s not that…it showed negative so that’s one thing I don’t have to worry about…it’s probably just my allergies that are working themselves up to be a real pain in the butt as soon as the trees bloom…ha, the little widget on the lower banner just changed to “high pollen” and I thought to myself “no shit” as I read it…did get a bike ride in indoors this morning but didn’t do two…just didn’t have the motivation to go back down there…even though I have my garden covered, I think I may lose most of it and if I do, that’s it for the year and I’ll just let it go til next year…I do have some extra plants in the kitchen that should go under the light and I’ll do that in a minute….I did get some good news today when my daughter told me she is sending me a stainless steel, roll around prep table for my kitchen since I don’t have enough counter space to use it for that…and it’s going to be here Friday…now I’ll be able to do food prep in the kitchen instead of the dining room…

Cut, cut, cut…
Well…as we approach the chaos that will be defaulting on the debts of the US by the repub led House, there is no plan by the somewhat speaker to do anything about it but to propose cuts to everything…and the place he wants to cut the most is to food assistance for the poor that will throw 41 million Americans to the wolves…but he is also trying to cut Medicaid, Medicare, and SS just to make the cuts hurt the most people…and the thing I don’t understand is why poor old white people keep voting for repubs when they constantly try to hurt or even starve them to death. As they start to realize that the repubs are really going to crash the world economy so they can get rid of every social program, economists are starting to run around with their hair on fire and have started to pressure repubs to not be stupid…but when you have repubs like MTG in the House, they can only be stupid because they are stupid….even senate repubs have stated they won’t support the plan that mccarthy has floated so why the hell is he still trying and trying to get support for it…cripes, I don’t even think he can get enough votes in the house but he is just too damn dense to realize it…this is the problem when you put morons in charge of the House…geez…
Space X launch…
Well…just a short one on the SpaceX launch of the Falcon super heavy and Starship that is happening in 36 minutes…as much as I hate elon musk, I do still like that there is progress on rockets and space ships…not sure how much it will do to lift my mood…don’t think there is anything that will help with that…oh, and it is snowing here…in the middle of frickin April…
April 17th
Well…crap…I noticed when I was out for lunch last week that I’m losing my sense of taste…can’t taste the coffee I’m having right now and couldn’t taste anything I ate yesterday…even poured hot sauce on some refried beans yesterday just to see if that would work but couldn’t taste it at all…so, I wonder what the hell caused this? It’s snowing outside and I’m glad I covered the garden but I think I’m going to just let it go…have no desire to do anything and getting it going this year has been a huge pain….I’ve had this taste thing happen before a couple of years ago where everything tasted like ash but with the mild depression I’m feeling, it’s a little overwhelming to have something else go wrong….didn’t get much done but run an errand yesterday but I have to drag myself downstairs and get a ride in today….I’ve lost the flow to my days and it’s disconcerting….I guess I can shift into survival mode but that even seems like too much work right now….not sure what I’m going to get done today but I know I need to cook something and it will be some chicken breasts that I got Friday…but I won’t be able to taste them so why bother? Maybe super spice them so a little taste will come through? Who knows? More later….
A little depressed today…
Well…as depressions go, this is a mild one but it’s still here and it sucks…with the rain out here today, I didn’t get any bike rides in and tomorrow looks like it will be indoor rides with more rain in the forecast…I did figure out how to build a tent over the garden today with a 9×12 clear drop cloth and that has to be done tomorrow afternoon since the temp at night is going to be around 30 Monday and Tuesday night….it’s already down to 42 out there right now and it’s going down to 36 tonight…crap…I am really starting to think about selling this house and trying to find one out in the country…just so damn tired of how hard I have to work to just live here with all of the calls to the police for the noise complaints and making sure that everything is locked up all the time…I mean, I can’t even leave my garage door open when I mow my lawn…and I really want to just live for a while without having PTSD from all of the thumpy assed bullshit music….one of the first neighbors I met when I bought my house moved out today and it looks like they just abandoned a 200K house…the garage door was left open and there is nothing in it anymore…I wondered why I haven’t seen them in weeks…oh, well…
The party of freedom?
Well…you would think that at least one repub would have a bout of clarity about their hypocrisy touting that they are the party of “freedom”…freedom for who? Surely not for young people trying to learn the true history of this country….surely not for half of the country who are women and are having their rights taken away by the repubs ever damn day…certainly not the Florida lawmaker who gave her phone number out on the House floor and told women and girls to call her so she can help them with abortion care and the evil desantis had her arrested…certainly not our friends in the LGBTQ community who are fleeing red states to keep from being attacked an murdered just for being who they are…and certainly not the young athletes who now have to have their genitals “inspected” before they can participate in sports in Idaho….this sure as hell is not “freedom” and it is clear by comparison to blue states that it is the repubs in red states doing all of this….taking away people’s rights and exposing them to hate is not freedom for them…I guess it is freedom for the repub haters who are passing all these fascist laws…geez…
April 16th
Well…damn, I’m not sure what is going on but another night of waking up at 4:53 and then staying in bed til about 6:30…man, I’m worn out today and don’t want to do anything…maybe today would be a good day to take off the bike…it looks like I’m going to have to cover the garden tomorrow night with it getting down to 32 so I’ll have to get that ready today…I may have problems with the bean plants this year and could be losing all of them…you know, I’m getting tired of the stress of getting the garden going this year and I may just give up on it….it would be okay if I could just plant stuff and have it grow but that’s not how it’s working out this year…crap….not too sore after all of the work yesterday but my back did need heat after I got done…sure hope the weedkiller works this time…need to get another bottle of that and some fungus dust and I may run out to get that this morning at Menards…still debating with myself whether to get a ride in before I do anything else but it is supposed to rain and I sure don’t want to get wet….not much to do today…have a gale warning for later today with with wind of over 40 as the cold front comes through and I hope we don’t have snow….not feeling the ride right now so I am going to sit here and have coffee for a bit before I make any decisions….more later…
Working too much…
Well…yeah, you can see that I haven’t found a topic for today in politics so I think I’ll do something else…had a good day so far but it was filled with work…got the two rides in this morning and was going to take the rest of the day off but then I heard someone start their mower in the neighborhood and there was no way I was going to let someone else be first to mow…so I got mine out and it started on the 3rd pull and I got that done…then I put weedkiller on the lawn too, and now I really am done for the day….it looks like rain tomorrow and Monday so I may get a day off on one of those…I will try to find one for politics but that will take a while as I read the news…more later…
April 15th
Well….damn, woke up at 4 or so freezing my butt off and I had thrown my covers all over my bedroom by tossing and turning last night…after I recovered them I stayed in bed til almost 7 so I consider that a good night…I think it was a mistake to skip the second meal yesterday and I won’t do that again today…there is a “tempts plummet” warning on my lower banner this morning and they are going to…only in the lower 40′s Monday and that sucks…but it almost 60 right now so I’ll be out for the first ride here in a minute…got a few things done yesterday and finally got the bird feeder cleaned and re-filled that I have been waiting for a warm day to do….not going to take my normal Sunday off tomorrow with it still being warm enough to ride whenever I want…think I’ll move it to Monday since it’s going to be cold…still don’t think it will be cold enough for frost but I’ll be watching that closely…need to find a plastic drop cloth just in case…not much to do today….going to get on the bike by 8 or so and then just wing it from there….there are races on today and soccer so I’ll have something to run in the background all day….more later…
Why are they fishing?
Well…when I saw how many people were fishing on Muskegon Lake today, the question that came to me is why? They have to know that fish in every waterway in Michigan is dangerous to eat with being contaminated with mercury, lead, PCB’s, and PFA’s, don’t they? The DNR here in Michigan has said that eating more than one serving of most fish here per month is dangerous to your health and I don’t think that has changed in the two years I’ve lived here…I’d love to be able to ride down to the lake and catch some fish to eat but there is no way I’d do it since a fish is more than one serving…oh, well…I guess some people don’t care about stuff like that. I did get a lot done again today with an errand where I got some boneless skinless chicken breasts for 1.69 a pound which is cheap in this market…then two rides and planted a bunch of veggie plants, then put in 22 packets of flower seeds in along the east side of the house…I moved the rest of the veggies in cups outside so I could shut the light off downstairs….think I’m going to skip dinner today…the pasta I had for lunch was enough for me so I’ll keep the pork chops for tomorrow…think I’ll marinate them here in a minute…
