Well…have been sitting here most of the aft trying to figure out how to comment on the politics of the day but they are so absurd that I really don’t know what to say…I don’t think I’ve seen so many idiot repubs in one spot and it is making my head hurt…the worst of the worst are the new set of deniers that have set their sights on the debt ceiling. Led by ole Rand Paul, one of the least intelligent people ever to be a senator, we have this group saying that defaulting on our debt doesn’t matter, that we can just pay it in little drips and drabs and everything will be fine…don’t they remember the same nonsense got us the downgrade in 2011 that cost us over a hundred billion dollars just because these asses wanted to make a point that they are a childish bunch of idiots who don’t understand how the economy works. And now, they want to do the same thing but even worse…any default here will cause the credit markets to freeze and raise the borrowing costs to the US by more hundreds of billions….and will probably crash the stock market to the tune of a thousand points or more…costing investors trillions…I just can’t believe these idiots are in charge…geez…
October 9th
Well…it was a strange day yesterday and it felt like someone had sucked all of the energy out of me….so, I tried to eat more and we’ll see if that translates into something today…slept okay but I think I’m going to try to record how many times I wake up at night…maybe a note pad and a pen…I need to know so I can actually do something about the lack of sleep…had some dreams, too that involved fishing and BMW’s crashed into ponds…yeah, I don’t understand it either….didn’t get much done yesterday..didn’t even cook so that will have to change today…the Tigers did win yesterday so that makes a game 5 Thursday along with the Wings….need new batteries for the remote….not much to do today…I do need to do the spider patrol in the bathroom and get rid of the piles of mail on the table…along with more and more resumes…soul crushing boredom….but it looks nice outside and the bike ride should raise my spirits some….more later…
The crazy runs deep in Scalia…
Well…there was an interesting article about ole Scalia in New York magazine this past week that should cement his status as the craziest MF ever to sit on the supreme court…even though he finds himself to be one of the “intellectual giants” on the court (that might not be his own words but it is how he acts when anyone disagrees with him) he is the least curious justice that has ever been…but the worst part is that he is proud of it…just like the rest of the repubs in this country. His daily reading consists of only the Wall Street Journal (one of Murdoch’s propaganda rags) and the Washington Times….another paper that is well know to be a shill for the republican party…then goes on to say he never listens to anything but right wing talk radio….building a right wing bubble that would be the envy of any of those on the right and isolating himself from any challenges to his wrong-headed ideas on many, many issues starting with Citizens United and the DOMA dissent that he wrote. But, the thing that brings his delusions into focus is his bald assertion that the devil exists and is active in daily life…and he attacked his interviewer when a look of disbelief crossed over his face…and then continued his attack saying that he was so isolated that he didn’t understand the “real” America where almost everyone believes in the devil…well…not in my America they don’t…now we have a justice of the highest court in the US being proud of the fact that he lets myth and superstition rule his life? It is just another instance of the right thinking that everyone thinks like them when it is just not true…and this is driven by the fact that the right only listens to the right and right wing radio and media so they are deluded into thinking that the country supports that nonsense….I had no respect for Scalia before…now, I’m just scared of him….and the damage he can still do to this country…geez…
Milestones and praying mantises…
Well…over the past week, there have been some milestones on the bike that I have hinted at but have just done the math and now I can really report them….first…this is the sixth year in a row I have gone at lest 2,000 miles on the bike…and with adding up the total mileage (yeah, I write that stuff down) I find that I have done over 17,000 miles on this bike, not the 16K that I thought I’d done…when I look at the globe and see where that would get me, I could have ridden to India heading west from here…and that makes it only 8K miles that I need to still do to have ridden the thing around the world…and that is kind of weird…but, cool when you think of it. The second thing is the praying mantises…I saw more than a dozen of them on the trail just sunning themselves…not sure but I think this is pretty late in the year for so many of those things to be around…but, it was neat to see….no more trail weirdness right now…
October 8th
Well…it was a long day yesterday with the Tigers losing again and then going out to celebrate G’s birthday that lasted too long…it was a nice drive home with the top down and it being 48 degrees….slept okay and had weird dreams that were mostly centered around the Miata again….and hotels, and repairs in the parking lot…I did get out to ride the bike after the rain but I really don’t like going out after 3 though…way too much traffic and no one is paying attention….almost have the bike adjusted so it will shift again after the cable replacement but there still is a little way to go….not much to do today….I do have all of the normal things but after spending cash last night at the bar, today will be a spend no money day….more later…
Let’s keep repeating “the repubs are to blame”
Well…waiting for the Tigers game to start and thought I’d put a few words down about the gov’t shutdown and the debt ceiling fight that is coming up…and let’s keep repeating this…the repubs are to blame…or, more to the point ole Boehner is to blame for this…never in the history of the country has the minority party tried to nullify duly passed laws by holding the world economy hostage with the threats to crash it…and then sitting there in their ignorance and saying that the default on our debt will have no effect…even when every economist in the world says it will cause a crisis that is only rivaled by the great depression….so, we need to keep repeating “the repubs are to blame” and then take back the house in 2014…these are some of the stupidist people I have ever seen in my life…and they just may wreck the country before that….geez…
October 7th
Well…running right on time this morning and that is even with going to the grocery store…I think I’m starting to like not having cocktails…feel pretty good this morning and I have some energy to get some things done…slept okay but tossed and turned like normal….it would be great to sleep through the night just once more before I die…that’s how frustrating it is to be up and down all night…it was an okay but veggie day yesterday…as you can see, I didn’t come back for a second one so I do need to catch up today…which may be hard since there is a Tigers playoff game on at 1 this aft and I have a bunch of stuff to do this morning….and I do have to wait our the rain to get on the bike..the guilt would be unbearable to skip two days in a row so I’m not going to do that….made homemade bread yesterday that kept falling until I just said the heck with it and baked it…I made a nice little brick but it was still fun to try….I think next time I will not punch it down but just put it in the pan and let it rise the first time then bake it…not much to do today….oh, I’ve already said what I have to do…more later…
October 6th
Well..it was an okay but very lumpy day yesterday…just couch and football for most of the day although I did get out to Logan’s to have a couple of beers with K and her sister…it was nice to get out and drive around a little…slept okay…well, not really…but I am getting used to that again..and no dreams so it was a bust all around…I am in the middle of making homemade bread and need to punch it and knead it to get it ready to bake…not much else to do today….it looks like I am going to take the day off from riding since I have to be here to do the bread and it is going to rain before I get that done…so, I’ll try to keep the guilt at bay for a while…hope it works…
The repubs hate government unless they can steal from it…
Well…in another scam that has been deployed by ALEC…the group that gave us the stand your ground laws and others….we have repub owned companies that are now stealing education money through the scam of “cyber academies” that have been popping up around the country. One of the most egregious thieves is a company called K12…I’m sure you’ve see their ads on tv, whose former teachers have just come forward to reveal the scam. Aided by laws that have been bought from repubs by ALEC, this company has charged the states where they operate hundreds of million of dollars for students that never once signed on to the so called “academy”, who never once did any homework, or answered any e-mails, etc….as you know, these “academies” are just the last, blatant attempt to destroy education here in the US…or, more to the point, to destroy the teacher’s unions as they have gone after every other union in the headlong rush to the destruction of the middle class. These hypocrites rail and rail against government unless they can steal more and more and more from the American people through these scams…we need to put a stop to it….geez…
October 5th
Well….it was an okay day yesterday…made a little cash and won at pool so that was good….and the Wings and Tigers both won last night…didn’t stay up to see the whole Tigers game since it didn’t start until almost 10…I’m glad the Wings have moved to the east so I don’t have the 10 and 10:30 games anymore….slept kind of crappy so I am a little slow today and I know I have to do three of these since I am already behind for the month…not much to do today…it looks like the rain is going to hold off for an hour or so and I need to get the ride in so I need to get going…I am going to try to smoke some fish and some pork chops today since I really don’t have much to do…go Blue!
