Well…it was an okay day yesterday and with it being a no cocktail night, I feel pretty good this morning…I wonder if I need to make every night a no cocktail night? That will be something to think about…didn’t sleep well…but, I will take that over feeling like crap all day…and, I am going to the youngest son’s house for the Wings game tonight so that is something to look forward to…even bought beer….and I did have a nice lunch with T that always raises my spirits…I did freeze my butt off on the bike yesterday but I am not ready to go full thermasuit yet…or even to wear gloves…I even put the top down on the car going out to lunch while I was still shivering….but I just had to…it LOOKED warm…not much to do today…the normal routine and then the Tigers play at 4…and I do have some errands to run so that will be something…more later…
Boehner owns the shutdown…by shenanigans…
Well..have been having a reading day today and one neat, little tidbit of information (another one, not the last one) jumped right out at me that says the ole Boehner owns the shutdown…he and his cronies (Ryan, Cantor, Sessions, et al) changed the rules of the house on the eve of the shutdown that took away the rights of all of the house members to bring legislation to the floor and replaced it with a new rule that said only the majority leader could bring legislation to a vote. Never mind that this has been a rule since the start of the country…with this change we now have one representative for 330 million people…and, with this change, we can see that the repubs had no intent for anything other than a shutdown. Now, we need to make them own it…that there is no role that anyone played but the establishment repubs no matter how much they are are trying to blame it on the tea partiers….these kinds of shenanigans should be prosecuted as sedition…as a person trying to bring down the government of the US…these folks should go to jail…geez…
Blame Citizens United…
Well…I am going to try to get out of this funk I’ve been in by taking on a couple of topics that I have been reading about over the past few days…and one from Think Progress that kind of distilled it…there has been more of the false equivalency that is rotting the press over the past few days that is trying to shift the blame from the repubs who own this mess since they are the ones that wanted it…and it is heartening to see that it’s just not working with the poll numbers of the repubs tanking like never in history…but, that’s not what I wanted to talk about…I want to talk about this little tidbit I read this aft about an analysis of the money spent in the last election in the wake of Citizens United that allows unlimited money from the rich to buy elections…but it is not even the elections that is the problem, it is the threat of primary opponents for the repubs that have allowed these rich people to get their way since the only thing the repubs think of is keeping their seats, not doing what is right for the country. The worst of it all is that there are only 216 people that gave over 530 million dollars for the last election…and if you think that money is not buying influence, you are crazy as the right….so, we have the supreme court to blame for the gridlock and nastiness in Washington…and they are just loving it…geez…
October 14th
Well…it was just another day yesterday with football and baseball in it…and a lot of boredom…but, I survived it to get to another Monday morning…didn’t get anything done so that adds to the malaise but I hope to do better today…not sure how….slept okay and the heat came on for another night and it looks like fall is here…not a thing I wanted to see….not much to do today…might have lunch with T but I’m not sure yet…and then the regular stuff….more later….
The wooly bear slalom…
Well…was going to write this one yesterday but the malaise that has settled here prevented that…but, I hope today is different so here goes….it has been so funny on the trail with all of the wooly bear caterpillars that have been crossing it lately…I wonder where they are all going? Oh, that’s not it….the funny thing is that I have been trying to miss them as I ride since every one that is killed means one less butterfly next summer….so, it has been a slalom as I miss them…and, I feel good that I have not run over one of them this year…it does look a little weird with me moving all over the trail; dodging things that can’t be seen…the really funny thing is that I found myself doing the same thing in the car the other day….I’m not really sure how I can see a little caterpillar at 50 yards out but I was doing it on the way out to pool…yep, I’m weird…but you know that…
October 13th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday…yeah, I say that a lot, what am I supposed to say? That the day sucked and I wanted to jump off a cliff? Nope…not that much drama…it was a good sports day but Michigan lost so that was not a good thing…but, the Wings won and they looked okay but not good…slept okay but I am still exhausted so there is something going on…might have to try staying up much later to see if that helps….didn’t really get anything accomplished yesterday except getting some stains out of the carpet and washing the towel I use under the bike to catch the crap that drips off it when it’s wet…and, it look like the lack of ambition is going to bleed over into today….but, there are no races or anything but football to watch today so maybe there will be a nap for the aft…who knows?
October 12th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I won at pool so that was good….and the drive back here was nice…the car is just running so good and it makes me smile every time I get into it….I wonder when that will end? Slept okay, I think, but I am still tired so maybe it wasn’t so good…..I have been worn out all week and I am getting really, really tired of it…get that? Tired of it….bad humor at 9 in the morning….I am looking forward to today with all of the sports going on…Michigan, the Tigers and the Wings all play today along with a race tonight so at least I won’t be bored…at least I hope not…I am making another pork shoulder today and need to get it in the oven before I get out on the bike…and that is about all I have to do today other than cleaning a little…and, I mean a little…not more than a half hour today…then, total veg for the rest of the day…going to skip the Miata club today…there is a color tour drive but they planned it to go to the south where there won’t be any colors….would rather just hang here and do my own in a couple of weeks…more later…
October 11th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I did get a few things done…finally got the bathroom cleaned and the car washed and waxed so it was not a total loss…the Tigers won and move on to the ALCS so that was cool but the Wings stunk up the place again…not sure what is going on with them….slept okay, I think, but since I didn’t chart it again, I’m not sure….it was a cocktail night so I feel a little slow today so I’m on the second cup of coffee trying to revive some before the bike ride…the heat came on for the first time last night and that is kind of depressing…don’t want the season to change yet….not much to do today…pool, since it’s Friday…but that is about it….going to take it easy this morning and just kind of ease into the day….more later…
The cliff moves back a little…
Well… it looks like the repubs are rapidly moving back from the cliff as their masters the Koch brothers, and the Heritage foundation have finally said enough of this batshit craziness they have embraced. While I applaud the results, since when should an organization that is not part of the government so blatantly be able to call the shots and control our entire government? Who elected the Kochs? That is what I see as the problem with the current state of affairs…when the Citizens United decision allows two rich brothers to control the entire government through the money that they give to candidates….what I really don’t get is whey elected officials should allow this to happen…where is their pride? I guess that this is the fruit of the astroturf tea party organizations that the Koch’s have fueled over the past few years…they have bought themselves a government and their money now displaces the votes of millions and millions of Americans…we should all be really pissed about this…and take care of the problem next year by voting these wholly owned legislators out and putting people in their place that will truly represent us…not just money…geez…
October 10th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I had a little fun going out to have a couple with G….but, I need to stop spending money so I can get through the rent in November…I did get some cleaning done yesterday for the first time in a while and I hope to keep that up today…slept okay but I did chart the the wake ups and it was surprising…up 22 times overnight and now I understand why I am so tired…there is never a time that I sleep more than an hour at a time and that is just not good..not sure what to do about it, though, so that will take some thought…and, my damn elbow is just screaming at me so that doesn’t help…not much to do today…I am going to continue cleaning and then get ready for the Tigers and the Wings tonight…broke down and am going to have cocktails tonight…so that means only tonight and Friday….I do feel better only doing two nights a week so I am going to keep that up…I am trying to decide whether to do the color tour with the Miata club Sat….starting from Hastings is not my idea of the ideal place so I may just do one of my own later in the week…more later…
