Well…it was a long day on the trail but a nice one…and no, this is not the political one that I promised a few days back but there just is nothing going on in politics that I haven’t already commented on…and I can’t get farther behind so I need to do this one about any topic I can come up with…so you’ll get trail comments today…with it raining just before I went out, there was no one on the trail but me…no dogs, not families taking up the whole thing, and no people walking the wrong way…so that made it easy to go and I did…it is pretty neat that the trail really has some strong scents after a rain…the pine was so strong today but was mixed with other ones that you never smell…like flowers and others that I can’t place but there is normally a surprise in every mile…the last thing that was cool out there today (not for the bird) was a bird that had been run over by a bunch of cars that had flattened it into the same pose as the Archeopteryx, the first feathered dinosaur, that was discovered in China many years ago…weird, I know, but still kinda cool…
September 9th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and had a little fun going out for a couple with K…and I had weird dreams that included a new Miata that got stolen after I had it for about 15 minutes, a running gun battle, and a missing car dealership…yep, weird, I know….but slept okay and I feel okay today if just a little tired…I may even take the day off riding the bike with the rain but it looks like the storms are moving out so I may be able to get to it…but, having lunch with T today so I may not have the time…other than that, not much to do today…I should clean some but not sure if I can muster up the ambition for it…I will come back for two more today since I am running behind…
September 8th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday with getting a few things done around here and with Michigan beating ND last night…slept okay but I feel just worn out this morning…but, I still need to get on the bike in a few minutes…don’t want to but I need to…still sore everywhere but it’s not as bad as yesterday so I guess I’ll survive it…the Lions start their season today and I’m not sure if I’m looking forward to it…just disappointing for the past 50 years…not much to do today….after the bike ride, it’s just a total veg day for me…might meet up with K for a couple later but that’s it…more later….
What’s wrong with diplomacy?
Well…have been thinking about cleaning my bathroom but this looked easier so I’ll give this a try…one of the questions that I have with this whole Syria nonsense is “what’s wrong with diplomacy?” When did our entire foreign policy devolve into using military force for everything? What is wrong with talking to the world about it and trying to find a diplomatic solution? We used to do a good bit of “horse trading” to get what we want with the use of the military being the last resort…I think it would be a good idea to try that for a while and not be in such a hurry to bomb everything in sight…it’s like the old saying ” when you are a hammer, everything you see is a nail”…..so, let’s talk for a while…Syria isn’t going anywhere….geez…
September 7th
Well…this one is going to be short for now since I need to get on the bike right now before the rain moves back in…it was an okay day yesterday and I won at pool, finally, so that was cool….and I made some cash so groceries are in my future…but, I did have to go out late last night so that was not fun….and, as you can see, I am behind since I was lazy and didn’t come back for another one yesterday…so, that means I need to do two more today and I’m not sure what the topics will be…probably something on Syria…or maybe a sports on since the Michigan/ND game is on tonight and I am getting geeked up about that…more later…
September 6th
Well…running late again today and the excuse is the grocery run…but, even without that, I wouldn’t have been earlier…it was an okay day yesterday but got nothing done but the bike ride and working out…and that looks like the same for today…other than shooting pool this aft that is….slept okay but that’s not really anything to talk about so I won’t…I have been sore all over and I think it’s from going so hard on the bike…averaged almost 15mph for the entire 15 miles yesterday and today I’m going to try to do it in under an hour…that’s the only goal for this summer and without any wind today, it just might be the day to try it….I do need to take some ibuprofen before I go since the elbow is still driving me nuts….more later…
Let’s burst the bubble of saint Ronnie…
Well…I am gagging at the new repub talking point that goes something like this: Saint Ronnie would have responded more quickly to any chemical weapon attack than Obama and would not have allowed anyone to use them when he was in office….and this comes from “top republicans” in congress….what a crock of crap. Do these people not even think of history when they open their mouths? Let’s burst this bubble right now with just a small dose of history that these idiots conveniently ignore…first, during saint Ronnie’s term…the administration knew that Iraq was using chemical weapons in it’s war with Iran and even used satellite photos to tell Iraq where the Iranian troops were…hundreds of thousands killed…second, saint Ronnie stood by when Saddam turned his chemical weapons on the Kurds in Iraq that were revolting against his regime…another 100,000 dead or maimed…saint Ronnie knew and did nothing. So, to say that saint Ronnie is the template for action on the use of chemical weapons is to laugh, and laugh, and laugh….what happened on his watch is so much worse than what is happening now in Syria that the repubs need to just shut up about it…not that they will…truth doesn’t mean anything to them when they think they are scoring political points…geez…
September 5th
Well…running almost late this morning and have decided to keep one newspaper for later this morning since I want to go out and get my hair cut in a few minutes…it was an okay day yesterday and I did get a few things done so that was good but I do need to get more done today…probably won’t, though, so then I need to not feel guilty about it….slept okay so that was a plus but I would like to sleep through the night just once more before I die…not much to do today…other than the haircut, that is…I did get the car glass cleaned but it is still streaky and I can’t figure it out…probably need more ammonia…more later…
No on Syria…
Well…with all of the wrangling that is being done on whether or not to attack Syria, I think we need to remember the results of our interventions over the past 20 years or so…in no particular order, just as I think of them…starting with Iraq…after a trillion dollars and thousands of Americans dead, along with hundreds of thousands of Iraqis…we still have half failed state with hundreds of people dying every day and little prospects for it to be better…then we have Libya….one of the places that seem to have fallen off the media’s map lately…a completely failed state with gangs of terrorists killing and maiming at will since the central government doesn’t have the power to do anything about it…Afghanistan…outside of the American controlled areas, the Taliban and other warlords are still in control and are just waiting for us to leave so they can re-impose their crazy brand of Islam on the country and continue to murder women and children….do I need to go on? I think sometimes we just need to let things play out and not play world police…these folks have been killing each other for thousands of years before the US even existed and there is nothing anyone has ever been able to do to make them stop….geez…
September 4th
Well…running late again and part of it is I had to comment over at Kos first to be able to get in on C&J…it was an okay day yesterday but I am still off on what day it is…holiday Mondays do that to me…back to sleeping crappy again and it is taking a lot out of me…not sure what to do about it, though….I did get a few things done yesterday but still need to wax and clean the glass in the car…should get to that today before I have to wash it again…not much to do today…I do need to get the new printer up and running soon so that might be something for today along with grilling some ribs…more later…
