Well…running late today and there really is no reason for it…been up since 6 or so but just couldn’t get motivated to do this until now…and I still don’t feel that good…stayed up until 1 and back up at 6; just not enough sleep but that can be rectified later today…have to go pick the bike up even though it’s not done…and then find someone that will really work on it…but, I am going to go get coffee first…not much else to do today…it is going to be hot all week but I’m not sure if I’m going back to the beach or not…we’ll see…more later…
The first Red Wings update…
Well…I completely forgot that today was the first day of free agency for the NHL and I thought I’d do what is probably going to be a running set up updates as the signings happen…there were a couple of developments today…not the big blockbuster that would come from signing Suter or Parise, but a couple of players that might help did sign. We’re familiar with Sammy (Mikel Samuelsson) who played for us on the last Stanley Cup team….and Jordin Tootoo from Nashville….Tootoo could add a little grit and meanness to the team but I am concerned sometimes when an abrasive player is added to our finesse team…but, the league is heading in that direction so maybe we have to keep up. One signing that I’m not so sure of is is the Swedish goalie that played for Toronto last year…and they gave this guy 1.5 million for 2 years…why not give one of the prospects in GR a chance? That’s what they are there for, after all.
Oh, the goaltender we signed is named Gustavsson….still not sure that was a good idea…especially with a 2.98 GAA and a.900 save pct from last year…
July 1st
Well…running late this morning since I wanted to get the car washed early…and I did so that is one thing off my list for the day…it was a total veg day yesterday and T thought I should be cauliflower so I was…I did have some errands to run and it was nice to get out and talk to people for a change…slept okay but don’t really remember how well so I’m not going to comment on it…not much to do today…I am looking forward to the Spain/Italy soccer match later this aft and there is a 6 hour race on that I may watch part of…but that is about it…I should clean my kitchen later but I am just not motivated to do it right now…I am going to take a shower and then take it easy for a while….

Well…I did get to the last one for the month and I’m not sure if I feel good about it or what…didn’t have as many fillers as last month so maybe my head is starting to work again…I did find it funny the other day when ole Mitt was describing what his healthcare plan was…exactly the same as Obama’s but ole Mitt has no plan to pay for it…just like the two wars, the medicare drug plan…and everything else the repubs do…so who is more responsible? It’s just more of the same magical thinking that got us into the financial mess we find ourselves in…and, the rest of the ole Mitt’s agenda is just more of the same “trust us” nonsense they have pushed in Wisconsin and even here in Michigan…and how did that work out? I am just so exasperated that people find this kind of nonsense acceptable when they have seen the extreme right wing crap come out after the elections…do you think the repubs are going to change? Nope, not when they have billions of dollars coming from the 1% and corporations that will be used to lie, cheat, and steal…geez….
June 30th
Well…it was just another day yesterday…just like all the rest and it is getting old….but, what’s the alternative? Slept okay last night but no dreams to speak of so that’s boring, too…okay…this isn’t working right now so I’m going to stop here…need to take a shower and go out for the papers and then back here for coffee…
Okay…I’m back and feeling better after coffee but the brain still is not working as I think it should…or maybe my life has just become so boring that even I’m not interested….not sure what I’m going to do today…it’s going to be hot again but I don’t mind it too much even without the air on…I do have an errand to run this morning but that’s about it…and I do have to do one more to make the goal so I do have that to look forward to…and they are capping my internet usage starting tomorrow so I’m listening to Pandora and watching Netflix all day today to get my money’s worth….then, I may just cancel Netflix since I’m not going to pay more to the cable company just to watch….more later…

Well…just poured a cocktail and thought I’d sit down to do another one before the race starts…and you know what this one’s about….just trying to make the goal for the month but I do have some things to share…I haven’t said anything about the bike lately but I broke it the other day…the tube that the seat post fits in shattered and I had to drop it off at a welding shop to see if I can get it repaired…still waiting for them to finish it but if they don’t get to it soon I’m going to try another place…I did find a new seat post today so I’ll be ready when the bike is….but, I do miss the exercise and I have had to cut my calorie intake back by almost 600…and, in a 1,500 calorie diet, that doesn’t leave much for the day and I think that is going to leave me feeling like crap for a while…but, that is doable and the car is okay so I guess things could be worse…and, after this one, I only have two to do tomorrow…there are some things I do want to comment on so I guess I should get at it….tomorrow, that is…right now it’s time to just relax for a while and watch the race…
More lawlessness from the right…
Well…I marvel at times how the repubs became known as the “law and order” party when, here in Michigan, we have a repub AG that thinks he is the only person who determines what the law means…starting with the medical marijuana law (or I should say continuing with this law) which he opposed when it was put on the ballot a few years back, Mr. Schutte has formed a pattern of lawlessness that would make a bank robber proud. His latest nonsense came after the supreme court ruling on healthcare yesterday when he said that he would not take part in implementing the law saying that we should wait until after the election in November when he feels that the repubs will win the presidency and repeal the law. First, this man has a duty to all of the citizens of Michigan….not to just the hard right that he panders to on a daily basis and those of us that don’t have insurance would like the possibility of getting it that comes from the new law. Second, when did our constitution change to read that the AG could substitute his political decisions for the will of the people? The courts here have slapped this idiot numerous times, showing that he is not the great legal mind he thinks he is but just some overly political hack using his office to push his crazy far right agenda on the people. But, this is just the latest outrage from this man…and Governor Snyder should straighten him out today…geez….
June 29th
Well….it was a long day yesterday…I guess I say that every day…but the days just seem so long…and I do feel a little crappy today with breaking the bike a couple of days ago…I guess I could get the old Schwinn up and running again but I just don’t feel like it…I hope to get it back from the welder today but I do need to find a new seat post…why is is so hard to find parts in GR? I think I’ll kind of lay low today…the car was acting up a little yesterday but I think I figured it out…at least I hope I have….I do have to go over to Meijers today so I think I’ll look for a post there….maybe check out some bike shops later…but, right now I think I’ll drink more water and hit the couch…
Just an update…
Well…as you can see from the count, I am running out of time to get caught up for this month so I guess I’ll have to cheat a little and write another one on what has been going on…I did go to the beach today and got a little color…but the car ran a little hot and I am concerned that I shouldn’t have had the radiator flushed…the tube to the overflow tank was loose so it may have not had the suction to keep the radiator filled…and it was down a little when it cooled off so I think that may be it…the last car did the same thing so I’m hoping that I’ve figured it out…I did get some color but one thing I am a little confused about is why people with children, who have the whole beach to choose from, always have to set up right next to me and then scream at the top of their voices for hours? I don’t know if I’m getting more sensitive to this kind of stuff but I find myself annoyed when I’m around kids…that’s about it…. I won’t be back for another….but three tomorrow…
I’m stunned…
Well…just got back from the beach to the stunner that the supreme court has upheld the healthcare law with the chief justice being the swing vote that joined the liberal side of the bench in a 5-4 decision. Needless to say, I am stunned by this event since all of the pundits have been saying that the individual mandate portion would be declared unconstitutional…but, I guess all of the so called experts can be wrong. I am a little relieved that the law stood since it will help me to be able to afford insurance in a couple of years…it is still scary to be aging without insurance. I think I have to go turn the news on and then come back later to add to this one….
Okay, I’m back but with little more clarity on this whole issue…no one has a clue to what it’s going to mean…some say it’s a win for Obama while others say that it gives the repubs and edge since people across the country are not enamored of it…one other thing…the repubs are showing their true colors today by holding the AG in contempt of congress for the fake reason that he won’t give them documents relating to the “fast and furious” debacle…what they are truly after is to intimidate Holder to stop pushing back against the voter supression that the repubs are using to try to steal this election…..and they have been caught on tape saying that the reason they are pushing these laws is to get Romney elected….what a bunch of thugs and liars…geez…
