Well…it started out a pretty cold day yesterday and I was out on the bike in full thermasuit with a wind that made everything below my neck hurt like crazy…then, I looked up and it was over 60 degrees so I missed riding in shorts and t-shirt yesterday…that is plan for today, though since it is 7 am and it is already 54 degrees…I do need to do the grocery run and wash the car but then I am going to try the ride in shorts this morning…I did have dreams last night that were centered around the 77 Chrysler again but it’s windshield was gone and it wouldn’t run right…not starting and quitting in the snow…but I couldn’t figure out what the whole thing was about…and still can’t….It was a little disappointing with the Wings losing last night and it being a no cocktail night, I was somewhat bored and forgot to put the heat back on so it was cold in here this morning…I will try to get back for another one later today but I need to go out to Cascade for a while so it may get away from me….
Let’s do a Rush watch…
Well…got this idea just a few secs ago and thought it sounded like a good idea at the time…let’s do a daily watch on ole Rush and count the advertisers who have left the show…right now, as of March 6th, the count is up to 20 and shows no signs of stopping…and, I for one, am reveling in the bully getting what’s coming to him….now I urge Clear Channel who is essentially Rush’s boss to at least suspend him…and, to Clear Channel, who thinks ole Rush is the top rated show in most of his markets, take a look at the latest metered results on listeners, not just the paper diaries that Arbitron uses…ole Rush comes in 8th in DC..far behind even NPR….maybe it’s time to send this bully back to his pill mills in Florida…okay, that’s not really fair….I’ll try to stop the personal attacks…but he does deserve it…after all, I didn’t call him a fat f*** loser…
One last thing…I think we should boycott any show that Patricia Heaton is in…during the attacks by Rush…she did the same thing on her Twitter account, although not quite as despicable as Rush’s comments, it again showed the ignorance and mean streak that the right displays every day and should not be supported….
Making the connection…
Well…just read an interesting article in the Guardian UK about the right’s fascination with Ayn Rand and her work “Atlas Shrugged” and it hit me that this fascination is one of the causes of the of the concerted attacks on women that we have seen over the past few months. In that putrid piece of trash (I really hate to call any work by any writer trash, since I understand that writing is hard work) the put upon millionaires and billionaires revolt against “government regulation” and the takers in society that are everyone but them…but what struck me the most are the scenes of rape in the book where the woman being raped comes to understand and like the attack since it is done by one of the rich and powerful that “deserve” to do whatever they want since they are rich and powerful. This nonsense is the root of the contempt that the right feels for everyone that is not them; who is not rich and connected, who must have something wrong with them because they aren’t. Never mind that most of those in the repub race for president either were born wealthy or fed at the public trough through lobbying to become wealthy; the fantasy in their heads is that they “earned” what they have….delusions that grow stronger with every passing day…geez….
March 6th
Well…it was a night out with G last night and no arguments but there was an undercurrent of uneasiness on my part that things could deteriorate at any moment and I was unsure of how I was going to react to it….I felt kind of fake at times talking of innocuous topics that had no real meaning, just going through the motions…more of what my life has become lately and I’m not sure what to do about it or if there is anything I can do about it…oh, well…I guess I’ll just keep putting one foot in front of the other and see what happens….I didn’t get to the political one yesterday, as you know, but with the repub primaries today, I may just be able to do better today….not much to do today…I think it will be a cleaning day since the spiders are back and I am tired of looking at them…and I will get back on the bike later and I hope that will be a mood raiser….more later…
I should be able to think of something..
Well…after doing almost 1500 of these things over the past two years, you would think I’d have it pretty much down by now…one of the strange things that I just noticed is that the letters on the keys of my computer are starting to wear off from use with the N and the D being the worst ones and the M not far behind…I guess you can tell that this one is not going to be the political one that you were probably expecting but there is just nothing that is cranking me up these days on that subject…how many times can you call the repubs idiots and not sound like it’s the only thing you say? You and I both know they are, but it is getting to be a little like stealing candy from a baby…anyone can do it and it’s not really special anymore. Was this ever special? Not sure…but, I am going to try to get back in the groove later this afternoon and do another one….
March 5th
Well…it was a long day yesterday and I knew I was going to feel like this today so I’m not surprised….so this one is going to be short…I did win at pool yesterday for the first time in a month but that was the only good thing that happened in sports….the Wings and Michigan State lost…oh, but Man U and Michigan won so I guess it wasn’t that bad. I’m back to feeling a little off like I was a couple of weeks ago and I’m not sure why….I think I may have to go back to no cocktails for a while…okay, need water and the couch right now…will be back later for more…
Okay…I’m back after a full morning where I just finished up the things I had to do for the day….and I do feel better after the coffee and the running around…still feel a little strange today like I’m crooked and the entire world is a little askew…oh, well…not much to do today after this morning…just going to take it easy and let the body heal….and I will come back for another one later today after I think of it…need to go out and re-read the online papers for ideas….more later…
March 4th
Well…it was just the most ordinary day yesterday but I did make a slow cooked pork loin roast that came out quite well…not sure if I’ll add wine to the next time that I make it…probably replace that with some stock instead…didn’t really do anything else so there is not much to say…I’m sure I don’t like it being March and having to warm the car up to go out and get the paper…but I really can’t bitch too much with the great winter we’ve had…and the weather is going to warm up tomorrow so I can get back on the bike…okay, need to go start the car…will be back later for more…
Okay…I’m back after the paper and coffee and without a bike ride, I do need to find a way to burn off the caffeine…so I thought I’d come back here for a few minutes while I wait for Man U to come on…it does look like tomorrow will be too cold to ride but by Thursday, it is supposed to be almost 60…so that means no thermasuit….oh, that last part is from “Snowbound” by Donald Fagen…don’t want to get more letters…man, I’ve been working on this second part since about 9 this morning so I think I’ll end here and go back to the Man U game…nope, not yet…I do have things to do today…going out to shoot pool with Tom and I think K and J are coming, too…that’s the real end…maybe more later…
Should comment about Limbaugh…
Well…with all of the uproar over the troglodyte comments that ole Rush made over the past couple of days, I thought I should comment on the nonsense but why? There is nothing that can be said for something so evil…it has been the way he has made his millions for the past 20 years so how can anyone be surprised? What really troubles me is the fact that he has millions of listeners (most of them repubs) that think exactly the same way…I wonder what they were taught in the churches that they were brought up in? But, this is normal repub behavior and again, we shouldn’t be surprised….saddened, but not surprised. geez…
March 3rd
Well…running really late this morning and this time I have an excuse…just loaded up the slow cooker with a pork loin in red wine and onion soup mix…haven’t used it in quite a while and, looking outside to see the cold, wind, and snow, thought it would be the perfect day for it. Can’t wait for the aromas to fill this place…it was a day yesterday with lunch with T brightening my mood considerably with all of the laughing and good conversation…it was the third time I’d seen her this week and I think that was some sort of a record…but, it was a cocktail night last night so I am a little slow right now…the Wings crushed Minnesota and were skating with so much energy I texted M that I thought they looked like they were angry about something….pretty cool to see…no dreams to speak of last night but that was okay…didn’t sleep for crap, though, and it is starting to get frustrating tossing and turning all night but what can you do? Not much to do today…there are some races on and maybe some soccer later but I don’t think Man U plays until tomorrow…so, I think I’ll just hunker down here for the day and read and write a bunch…you may even get more today but it is the weekend and you know my pattern…
Let’s kill the Keystone XL nonsense…
Well…in the past couple of weeks, the repubs have latched onto gas prices as being one of the weapons that they are going to use to try to defeat Obama in November and get the Keystone XL pipeline approved. One of the lies they are telling is that the pipeline will have the effect of lowering prices to consumers across the US when they know it’s not true…even the pipeline company has said in sworn testimony that Keystone will not have any effect on gas prices and may even raise them in the midwest since it will allow them to move the glut of oil from Oklahoma to refineries in Texas for export. The noted oil economist, Philip K. Verleger had this to say in today’s Washington Post:
“Overall, the pipeline will have no impact on prices consumers pay. None. The reason is that the products produced from the crude will be sold into the world market — exported — if prices fall below world levels,” he said in an email. “This means that consumers outside the Midwest will get no benefit from the line while consumers in the upper Midwest may pay more.”
This isn’t even the worst of it…in testimony to Congress for approval of the pipeline, Trans-Canada (the company that wants to build the pipeline) admitted that it will use the pipeline to manipulate prices; just giving the oil companies one more tool in their bag to keep prices artificially high and steal more from you and I. So, whenever you hear the repubs lying about the pipeline and it’s effects, just remember who owns a large piece of the republican party, and who will benefit from its building……geez….
