Well….if you were here yesterday, you read my post on the fact that G.E. didn’t pay any income taxes on the over 5 billion dollars of profit they made in the US, or on the 15.1 billion dollars they made worldwide last year. But, that’s not the real problem here…well, it is but what happened after that news was announced shows the isidiousness of corporate control of almost everything in our country. Did you see any of this news on NBC? Nope, not a peep, and guess why…NBC is owned by G.E. Their excuse was that it was just not newsworthy enough to put on the nightly news; while we had their newsreader going on about the new words that were being added to the Oxford dictionary? This type of behavior really points to the fact that corporations are out of control here in the US and that needs to be changed. I’ll be back to add to this one later but lunch is ready and I don’t want to overcook the chicken…
March 30th
Well…a pretty nice day yesterday but I don’t remember who won at pool…I think it was Tom but I’m not sure…the car started for a whole day and I think it may be fixed so that takes a load off…okay, I feel pretty crappy right now…it just hit me so it must be a calorie deficit from yesterday…only had a burger for lunch and that was it….not more than 800 cals or so for the day and that’s not enough. So, I’m making a whole chicken today and am going to make up for yesterday by eating a ton today…going to be out on the bike, too, so I should feel better in the aft. Not much to do today….going to take it kind of easy until the Wings game later and just get some resumes out…..I’m sure I’ll have topics for later….
Forget the b.s on corporate taxation….
Well…to hear the repubs talk, the reason there are no jobs being created here in the US is the “fact” that corporate taxes are too high and this taxation is driving companies overseas. Really? they are still saying this after the news that came out about G.E. yesterday? In case you didn’t hear, one of our largest corporations, General Electric, paid no taxes last year…yep, you’ve got it, the company that is being held up as the shining example of success here figured out a way to not pay any taxes…but more than that they figured out how to steal 3.2 billion dollars of your and my money in the form of a tax refund…and that figures to a negative 60% tax rate. Where is your overtaxation now repubs? The second fact that these tax cutters don’t want you to know is that over 60% of American corporations paid little or no taxes last year. When was the last time you or I paid little or no taxes? These guys should be ashamed of taking advantage of the infrastructure that you and I pay for to make obscene profits and then twisting the knife by taking food out of the mouths of our poor. How many people could be fed with the 3.2 billion dollars that G.E. didn’t deserve? Geez….

Well…this is going to be a shorty since it is just a short thought on my part…it came from a quote from our gov Rick Snyder that I read in the papers a couple of days ago, when asked if he is concerned that his approval ratings and the polling on his agenda is moving steadily downward, this moron (or republican…today the terms are pretty much interchangeable) said that the only thing that counted was the result of the election that put he and his repub co-conspirators into office….he just doesn’t care that 66 percent of the people of Michigan do not like or want the direction he has taken with raising taxes on individuals and giving more tax breaks to business, along with the undemocratic laws that have been passed by his legislature that will allow him to remove elected officials and replace them with his cronies. I think the people are finally waking up to the shenanigans of this new crop of repubs and their anti middle class agenda once it was revealed for what it is…stealing more from the working class to give to the richest…governor, you are supposed to govern for all of the people of Michigan…not just your country club buddies…geez…
March 29th
Well….a long, busy day yesterday that ended in going out with G for more than a couple…had a lot of fun, though, and I think it will take until it’s time to go out to shoot pool to feel better…and then, right back at it. I did get attacked by a heat seeking goose on the bike again….damn thing whacked me in the head and wrenched my neck…it still hurts this morning and I am trying really hard not to try to extract vengeance on the stupid bird…and then I remember it’s just a stupid bird that is just doing what it is programmed to do. I am looking forward to seeing that the car is fixed this morning…it does start a lot better so far, but I won’t be really confident until over a week….not much to do today…going to try to get back in my normal routine and get out to Kava today, and then work out and cook lunch….I should have topics for later since Obama talked and whenever that happens, the righties foam at the mouth and reveal their stupidity…

Well…I know I’m late, and I also know that most of you read this after you get back from lunch…and I’ve tried to write to the statistics of my site and make sure there is one here for you then…today has just been crazy with too many things happening for me to keep the schedule…I did get the car back already and I hope thy have fixed it…they better have for 300 bucks.
Now to get to the topic….I’ve been seeing really heartening developments when I look at the recent polls on what the repubs have been doing in Wisconsin, Ohio, and other states, including my own great state of Michigan….the only way these guys got elected was to lie and conceal what they were truly going to do and now that it has been revealed, all of the independents that voted for them are gone…and even some of the repubs are bailing on these idiots because some repubs still have a sense of fairness and I say to them, come on over, the waters fine on the thinking side…can’t wait for 2012….

Well…the damn car took a crap on me again this morning….quit at the Family Fare this morning and I had to walk back here and wait for Tom to come and tow it to get it running…got it going and took it to the shop….starter is bad and will cost 300 bucks to have repaired….about a hundred under what I expected but I think I’ve come to the point that I really have to start looking for a new car…and a job…I do have one for a little later…about the tide that is turning against the repubs in popular opinion now that they have revealed their radical right-wing agenda in Wisconsin and other places…
March 28th
Well…not a bad night of sleep last night…I was in bed for 8 hours anyway and might have gotten a good 6 hours….so I feel okay today but still a little fuzzy but that should pass in a couple of hours…the weekend was quite boring since I am still short on cash and not sure I have fixed the car yet. I wonder how long the thing will have to start before I become confident with it again? Maybe today, I hope…I am tired of parking it on hills…GR is not the hilliest place in the world…now, if I lived in San Fran, I would never have to fix it. Not much to do today….the normal stuff, I hope, so I can get back into some political commentary, and maybe out with G later…haven’t seen her in a couple of weeks and that might be fun. Watching a Woody Allen movie right now so I’ll stop and get back to it…more later…
Just a little more….
Well….It’s been another slow day here at the homestead but I did get started on getting the winter clothes put away and taking care of some stuff that I have been ignoring for a while…I can’t believe it, but on April 3rd I will have been doing this for a full year and I appreciate the discipline that it has forced on me to get at least one of these out every day…the average is almost 2 per day since I’ve gone over 750…oh, just did the math..it’s over 2 per day so I feel better now. It’s funny how just having a little money in the bank can change your mood so much….I now have enough cash to get through June but I have to keep looking for work…if I could just get a little more money coming in, I may be able to take the whole summer off again, play some golf and spend some time at the beach. But first, I do have to spend a little cash on the car…it needs a headlight, rear brakes, and some brake line replaced before I’ll be comfortable trying to get it through another summer…will probably need another roll of duct tape, too….but I do want a Miata at some point since I’m running out of time to enjoy a convertible sports car. Maybe this year…..that’s enough for now…I’ll be back with pithy commentary tomorrow since I’ll be restoring my normal routine which seems to be necessary for me to let the brain go and write…
March 27th
Well…had to get this one out early today to give you a car update….don’t want to say so just yet but I may have fixed it…it has started every time since I replaced the switch Friday aft…but the one caveat is that it had resumed starting before I put the switch in…it was the best damn feeling having the thing turn over when I went out for the newspaper a few minutes ago. I did have a nice day yesterday….went out to have a couple with K and I’m a little confused that she is so concerned that I am alone right now…but I have resigned myself to living the rest of my life alone….no, resigned is not the right word…that denotes some sadness in my situation and I’m certainly not sad…I’m uniquely suited to being alone and I welcome the long silences that come with it…it’s one of the things I’ve always said, that I just love coming back here after being out and knowing there will be no one here…selfish maybe, but not sad. Not much to do today…..going to read the paper and continue on with a movie I started on Netflix when I got up….I’ll try to write more later but you know how that works on the weekend…
Oh, one thing I haven’t shared….got an e-mail saying that I can have free access to the NY Times for the rest of the year after their paywall goes up tomorrow….yay…I was really going to miss it….
