Well…what a crappy start to the morning…forgot to get the coffee ready and set the timer last night so I had to do it this morning while I was sleepwalking trying to wake up…and I’m running late too, with not getting up til after 6:30 and having a fitful night of sleep with no dreams at all…and my butter is rancid after I bought a baguette yesterday so I have to go out and get more right after I write this one and that is something I just don’t want to do feeling so crappy…oh, well…I may get another tray of 99 cent pork chops too, just to have some in the freezer…I did get two mice in the traps yesterday and I didn’t feel bad at all for getting them…they had been making a mess in my garage and chewing holes in everything so they had to go…and I re-set the traps overnight to make sure I got all of them…man, my forearms were sore yesterday after abusing them putting the awning back up and I could barely move them last night but they seem better today….miracle ibuprofen….I need to take some time off now that I have the outside of the house finished….just worn out and need some time to recharge so I think that will be the plan today…I haven’t taken a day off in forever so I think I’ll start my weekend early and just ride the bike and veg today…I do have to mow the lawn but that will be all for today….more later…
Another reason to get rid of the electoral College…
Well…if there already weren’t enough reasons to get rid of the racist electoral college that has given the past three repub *presidents the office when they got less votes than their competitor, the latest is the little known and never used clause that says that the governor of any state can seat his own slate of electors and ignore the votes of the people. And trump and his cronies have seized on that clause and are setting up the process to bribe governors of swing states where trump loses to do just that…so all of the repub bleating about “voter fraud” that is bad, bad, bad unless repubs do it…but we knew that, didn’t we? I really do hope trump tries it…there will be rioting in the street from all voters who suddenly find that their votes didn’t count at all with trump stealing the election. So, when we win…and we are going to win, the electoral college has got to go and we need to make the popular vote what elects presidents…it is the only fair way to support “one person, one vote” that is at the heart of our society…what’s left of it….geez…don’t these guys ever get tired of cheating?
September 23rd
Well…I guess that night of sleep was okay….but only slept until 5:30 and then just gave up and got up…and I am still pretty tired from the busy day yesterday….so, I think I’m going to only do one ride today and not have any other plans…I should clean both fridges since I haven’t done that in a while and the upstairs one has a little smell to it that I can’t figure out so I think I use a bleach solution to clean that one….I am going to do the grocery run this morning and it is still warm enough to put the top down so I am going to take advantage of it….the damn mouse that has been eating my grass seed in the garage chewed right through the mortar that I use to plug up the hole he had dug under the garage door so I had to re mortar it and then set some traps to kill the little sucker if he does it again…hate to do that but I won’t have him eating the seed I need to fix the lawn….the lawn is growing in out front and is starting to look pretty good but I think I’ll need to re-seed some spots that didn’t come in before it gets colder….but not today….okay, yeah, maybe today…it’s pretty hard to just take it easy when there are things to do…..not much to do today…just going to admire my work for one day and do an easy ride this morning…after doing the grocery run…man, it’s going to be weird not going out until later…but I think I’ve earned an easy morning….more later…
Got the awning up…
Well…I was going to wait to put the last awning back up til tomorrow but, you know me, I can’t stand to have work hanging over me when I can do it now…the paint was dry enough so I hoisted it up and struggled to get it back in place…trying to hold the 40 pound awning up with one hand while starting a screw with the other is quite a challenge and the screw that I was planning on hanging it on while I did that pulled out and let the damn thing bang me on the head…took a nice little divot out of my scalp since I forgot to wear my hat while I was working….but, I got it up…finally and it now has 5 screws holding it when it only had three before….just have a little repair work to do on the paint since I scraped it a little putting it up but that’s easy enough…and that finishes the paint on the outside of the house that I am going to do…7 hours on one damn awning is a lot of time…and I can’t even celebrate with a cocktail tonight since I’m taking the week off…damn…oh, well….

Well…yeah, I’m running really late today but I have an excuse…did two bike rides and spent 6 hours painting the last awning today…what a pain with all of the detail…oh, the pretty cool thing…after RBG’s death Friday night, the dems have raised over 135 million dollars from small donors across this country to put toward defeating the cheating, hypocrite repubs who have vowed to fill RGB’s seat before the election. One of the names being mentioned is a woman who thinks that being a lawyer and a judge is just a means to and end…to do god’s will here on Earth…can you guess how she’ll vote on a woman’s right to choose? Let’s make this really, really clear…to everyone who has health insurance because of Obamacare, it is gone after this seat on the SC is stolen…to every woman who thinks the government has no right to control what you do with your body…that is gone after this seat is stolen….to everyone who thinks that legalized religious discrimination is wrong…that will be allowed after this seat is stolen…to everyone who thinks that voting rights are important to this democracy…they’re gone too after this seat is stolen. So, at this point, the only thing we can do is get out and vote these assholes out…and then spend the next 4 years undoing all the damage they’ve done….vote, vote, vote….it’s all we have left…
September 22nd
Well…that was a little odd….was good for last night for the first time in a while and that made sleep a little broken but I tried to not get up until after 6 and was successful…so I think I’ll keep that up all week and see how that feels…feel okay this morning so that alone may be worth it…not too sore this morning even with doing 30 miles yesterday and painting the underside of the last awning but I will be sore tomorrow with doing the rest of the awning this morning after the first ride….I may take a day or so off working after I put the awning back up tomorrow…need to find a house and that will be my sole job from now on until I find one…along with getting to 5K miles on the bike…had some damn animal digging into the garage next to the door so I had to mix up some mortar and plug the hole…couldn’t figure out where all the rocks and dirt were coming from but I think I have it fixed…and I patched a small divot in the front sidewalk with the leftover mix that I have been meaning to get to for a while now…damn amazon split my order and that’s why part of it got here so soon…they just sent the chain lube and not the rear cassette that I ordered…luckily, lubing the chain has stopped it from skipping so I think I can limp the bike for two more weeks…not much to do today…just the rides and the awning but that is going to take hours with all of the detail work that needs to be done on it and I will be sore tomorrow….more later….
Pack the courts…
Well…the shortsighted asshole who runs the repub party, Mitch McConnell, is going to jam through another SC justice before the election to replace RBG…never mind that the hypocrite in chief running the senate had a “rule” that said that you can’t approve a new justice in the last year of a president’s term…but we all know that only applies to dem presidents….so I say let him…and then we need to get out to vote to ensure that we take back the WH and senate…then play some damn hardball for a change…and that would mean expanding the SC to 15 justices and appointing liberal justices to all 6 of the new seats…after all, moscow mitch has been tearing the rules of the senate up to jam through unqualified judges for the past 4 years and we need to grow a spine in response. The number of SC justices is set by law, not by the constitution and all we would have to do is pass a new law saying that there are now 15…but, let’s not stop there…if the repubs want to break every convention to get their right wing asshole judges installed to go against the will of the people…especially on Roe v. Wade where 70% of the American people want it left alone…then we need to respond in kind and expand every damn court and blunt the damage that the repubs have done. Then, we need a real investigation of Brett Kavanaugh and impeach the lying sexual assaulter and get him off the court….we need to let the repubs know that if they jam through this RBG replacement, there will be hell to pay….but we need the entire government in our hands to make them pay…so, get out and vote…
September 21st
Well…damn, my allergies have gotten really bad to the point that I feel like crap and my eyes are so itchy I just want to scratch them out…have been coughing and sneezing like crazy too…just damn miserable…so, sleep was pretty rotten last night and I have a headache today…okay, enough bitching…I had an okay day yesterday but didn’t get much done other than ride the bike but I will have to do better today…need to head out to depot to get some spray paint to do the inside of the awning today so I can paint the outside tomorrow and get it back up this week…and that will about do it for what I’m going to do on the outside of the house other than some caulking and cleaning…the grass seed I put in the front yard has started to sprout but I think I’ll have to re-seed some spots that didn’t come in but it looks quite a bit better and the back yard grew in with just feeding it so I’m not going to do much there but clean it up…..had a brand new pain on the bike yesterday…or one that I haven’t had in a long time…my right hip was howling in pain when I got off the bike and I’m not sure what the heck I did to it to make it do that…doesn’t hurt right now but damn, I could barely get off the bike when I got back here and then limped around here all day….hope it was a one time thing….more later…
A new record…
Well…I finally made it! Got to 4,585 miles today for a new personal record on the bike….only 415 more miles to get to the 5K goal for the year. That is more than twice the mileage that they rode in the Tour de France this year…yeah, I know…they do the 2155 miles in 3 weeks and it took me 9 1/2 months but still…that’s a lot of miles and to continue to pile them on at my age is some sort of an accomplishment…what sort, I don’t know but it’s something….so, I’m taking the rest of the day off to watch some football and soccer…
The furnace works…
Well…that takes a load off…the furnace just kicked on and is running fine..stinks with 5 months of dust on the burners, though but I’ll take that to know I don’t have to pay someone 150 bucks to come out and fix it…or to replace it..don’t need to spend 5 grand for a new one….yay!
