Well…yeah…it is weird for me to be here this early on a Sunday morning but I got up early and it’s still too early to go out for the paper so I thought I’d come here and do this while I wait…I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a weather forecast so far off as the winter storm warning from yesterday…not that I’m complaining that we didn’t get smothered in ice and snow but damn, I actually was worried and did some prep for losing my power for a day or so and just got a dusting of snow and a little ice so I’m sitting here in the warm with a quiet furnace and will have a stress free Sunday….didn’t sleep too well last night and that damn cold is still hanging on so I think I’ll make this a veg day and just watch some sports….I did have a couple of cocktails last night but two days in a row is enough and I’ll get back to being good tonight…I kind of like getting up and feeling good…or as good as an old guy can feel…I may even be able to get back out on the bike this week since there are going to be a couple of days in the 40′s before the cold comes back for the rest of the winter…will take a look at the trails tomorrow but with the rain, the flooding will be back and I may just have to do a street ride…not much to do today…going out for the paper in a minute and soccer starts in a while but I am going to ease into it with more coffee first….might even have to run the french press for more today…we’ll see….more later….

That was a waste…
Well…do you have any ice where you are? If this is the worst ice storm in 20 years, I’ll take it any time….the roads here are clear and there is a little ice on the trees but that is about it…so I guess the prep, what little I did, was a waste of time…but the forecaster are now saying “wait for it”….the bad stuff is going to start at 8 tonight and we are going to have snow/sleet to the tune of 3/5 inches overnight…but, I just looked at the radar and I just don’t see it unless it just pops up out of nowhere…which it can do here in Michigan so we’ll see….but the inch to inch and a half of ice is just not going to happen so I think my power will be just fine…I did get annoyed with the noise coming from the furnace blower so I did work on that today so I don’t feel too bad about being lazy…went the completely opposite direction with the belt adjustment and left it loose along with leaving the adjustment screw loose as well and it is almost quiet now…at least the banging is gone which is just so counter intuitive that I am still thinking about it…but, I’ll take it…still feel like I have a damn cold, though….
Ice storm prep…
Well…with the dire warnings that this is going to be the worst ice storm in the history of the world and we’re all going to die, I decided to do a little prep just in case I lose my power for a few days…have been charging everything that needs a charge…have both of my spare batteries, my phone, and my mp3 player all charged up along with my car starter that I can plug the car adapter into and charge everything for days if I need to…or I can charge stuff with the car if it goes on for a long time…have a full tank of gas in the car and I just realized that I can warm up in the car if it gets too cold in here…and I just found three boxes of 6 inch “emergency” candles downstairs…and yep, they are actually labeled home emergency candles…so I have 15 of those along with others and that should last me for a while…I do have 8 flashlights that will light up an entire room, too…and enough batteries to do a change in each one of them so I think I’m covered there, too…and I got my sleeping bag out of the basement and laid it out in my bedroom to air it out even though it was just recently washed and that should keep me warm enough to sleep…after all, it kept me warm when I slept in the sub in Muskegon with my cub scouts and that was unheated in the middle of Feb….I think the water will stay on and that’s the biggest thing for roughing it with no power…and I think the water heater will even work since it is self contained and is not connected to electricity….by coincidence, I just washed my riding clothes, too, and they keep me warm riding in the mid 20′s so I think things will be okay…one good thing is that I won’t have to do any work around here until the power comes back on….I’ll keep updating until I lose my internet…
January 11th
Well…sitting here waiting for the power to go out and thought I’d better get one of these done before it happens….haven’t had an ice storm since I moved in here so I’m not sure how fragile the power supply is yet but I guess I’ll find out later today and into tomorrow….I sure hope it only last a day or so…going to get my warm clothes ready just in case and make sure my backup batteries for the phone are charged….if it’s a long outage, I may have to buy a generator for the next one….oh, well….slept really crappy last night and I think it might be from having cocktails last night and I don’t think I’ll do that anymore…just is no fun so what’s the point? I did get out for a long bike ride yesterday but it will be the last one for the winter it appears…with all the rain, the trail will be flooded for weeks…I may be able to get out and ride the streets but I washed the bike to get it ready to put on the trainer and don’t want to get it dirty again…didn’t get much done yesterday but with no bike ride today, I really should get some work done today…but, I’m going to start the day with more coffee and some soccer first….more later…
10 years and 300 million dollars…
Well…just wanted to do a short on on news that just came out this morning…after 8 different Benghazi “investigations’ and the latest investigation of Hillary and the Clinton Foundation, guess what the repubs found for wasting 10 years and 300 million dollars of your and my money? Nothing, not a damn thing, no bribes of foreign governments, no obstruction of justice, no self dealing from their charitable foundation, no fines for any wrongdoing….and just last night the asshole in chief led the “lock her up” chant at one of his hate rallies…did you notice all of the things I listed that she didn’t do? Yeah…all things that the idiot trump has done to break the law over the past three years and no one has done a damn thing about it…he is a damn criminal and yet you and I keep paying for him to go out and stir up hate every damn day….do you think this exoneration of Hillary will get any media play at all? Nope….but it should be front page in inch high type on every damn paper that bought into the right wing propaganda smears and gave the election to idiot boy….who is going to step up and tell the truth? No one I guess…

Well….what a sick piece of shit trump is…and so are all of the repubs who support him….buried in an article in the Murdoch owned Wall Street Journal today we now know why trump ordered the attack on Soleimani now…it was to help keep repubs onboard with acquitting him in the senate trial…in the same article it was reported that right wing hawk senators were were pressing him to attack Iran so of course the idiot trump is going to think about nothing but himself and do what they want…but, how damn sick is that? Murder someone just to keep repub senators from convicting and removing you from office? Over the past twenty years we have seen that repubs have absolutely no ethics or morals, but to press for murder in exchange for protection? This is a new low in this country where now murder is okay if it fits your political needs and there is only one party that would even consider this evil shit…and it sure as hell isn’t the dems….every damn one of them should be hauled to the Hague for war crimes….
January 10th
Well….that was a little weird night of sleep…got up for the first time at a little after 12 and then every couple of hours after that but I still feel okay this morning…that might have something to do with being good for 5 days in a row…or it might be that I have really been trying to eat enough, too….or the bug may finally be leaving…who knows? I do know that I have this strange energy this morning and I am going to ride that wave to get a bunch of stuff done…need to get out to get some food then I’m going to wash the car and the bike just in case it needs to go downstairs on the trainer…but, I’m going to try to get a ride in today before that…or what’s the point of washing it just to get it filthy again on the trail? I am feeling a little guilty about not getting much done lately but I have just not had any energy at all and just doing this every day has been wearing me out…I think I just need to get at it and not think about it…and I’ll try to do that today…but I do need to watch a little of the car auction this afternoon since they are selling the original “Bullitt” Mustang today and am a little curious about how much it is going to bring in it’s unrestored condition…not much to do today…well… that’s not true…I do have a lot to do and it is going to be a test of how well I’m really feeling…oh, my youngest sister turns 61 today and I look at that with a little bemusement…damn, we’re all getting old…more later…
Smorgasbord….
Well…just can’t get motivated to do a long one on a single topic so I think I’ll give you a smorgasbord on a few short ones instead…I just love it that Nancy has just told everyone that she’ll send over the articles of impeachment when she is damn good and ready…and then added soon…and that means not until she gets what she wants for the American people…a trial that is fair to them and gets to the truth…and, of course, trump’s drones in the senate went ballistic since they have already said that they will vote him innocent and don’t need no stinkin evidence to do it….just go a laugh when the NY state Bar Assn just asked the House to investigate bill Barr for his unethical behavior since he has been in office…which includes lying to congress and the American people…and conspiring with trump in extorting Ukraine for personal political gain…so we could have a AG who has been disbarred in the next couple of months…could only happen in a repub administration….did you see the news conference that the Adderal addled idiot gave yesterday? Cripes…he sure looked like someone who has been on a coke binge for a week and spoke like it too…like he didn’t know what to do with his tongue and the damn sniffing, sniffing, sniffing means he had just snorted something before he went out….I wonder who his dealer is? And who in the WH is crushing the Adderal up for him and getting it ready? Okay…that’s enough for now…I may come back for another one later if I feel like it but who knows?
January 9th
Well…running quite late today with not getting up til almost 6:30 and having to take a look at the news before I came here…slept okay last night and don’t feel bad this morning with being good again last night…still have that low grade soreness everywhere but that’s pretty normal now so I shouldn’t bitch about that….didn’t get on the bike yesterday with it being so damn cold and I think that may have helped my back a little since it doesn’t hurt much this morning….and it looks like a long wait to get out today but it needs to happen before the rain starts…it’s supposed to rain about an inch over the next few days so I will be dodging raindrops for the next few days…and that will keep the trail from draining so I guess I’ll just have to get used it being flooded until spring…I can ride on the street if it gets bad I guess….I did get out to shoot pool yesterday and that was fun and it was nice to get out of here for a while…I do have to try to find things to do that will get me out of here for a while at least once a week just to make sure I don’t get too comfortable with just hanging out here….I know it’s winter and I do normally hibernate quite a bit but not talking to anyone for a week is kind of isolating and I’m sure it’s not good for me….not much to do today…I do have an errand to run this morning and the bike ride but I really do need to get back to work around here, too….have shades to hang in the last room and it need to be repaired and painted so I can start using it…not sure what for but I know it’s not going to be storage….more later….
This is what Nancy should do…
Well…with Moscow Mich McConnell stating yesterday that he intends to hold the impeachment trial without getting the articles or any evidence from the House, and not calling any witnesses or asking for any documents, it is even more clear that he intends the trial to be just another part of the coverup of trump’s criminality…and the pundits out there are saying that ole Mitch has checkmated Nancy Pelosi and there is nothing she can do about it. All I have to say is wait just a damn minute…I have thought about this the past few days and that just isn’t true…MoscowMitch may be able to hold a sham trial in the senate but that doesn’t keep Nancy from re-opening the impeachment inquiry and subpoenaing Bolton, Mulvaney, and Pompeo and then just waiting to have their appearances ordered by the court…..and this will drag on until this fall just before the election and keep it in front of voters until then. As time goes on, the repubs keep inventing new restrictions on the impeachment, saying that the House only gets one chance and since they have finished the impeachment, that’s it…they can’t go back and do anything else…but that’s not true…Nancy runs the House and can do whatever she wants, especially in the face of Mitch’s conspiring with trump. The statement she should put out would go something like this: Since Mitch McConnell has made it clear that he will not hold a trial that supports the right of the American people to know what the president and his cronies have done, but to help coverup the president’s wrongdoing, he has left the House no choice but to re-open the impeachment inquiry to make sure the American people finally get the truth about trump’s extortion of a foreign government for personal political gain. Never in the history of this country has a Senate Majority leader ignored his oath to the Constitution and blocked the calling of witnesses or the requst of documents in an impeachment trial so we in the House will do our duty to our country and the American people by re-opening the impeachment in Donald Trump. Now, that is what she could do…the question is will she? She really should….
