Well…with all of the evidence that the repubs economic plans of tax cuts for business and the rich do not work to create economic growth, are you surprised that another state has weighed in and it is not pretty…for workers, that is…for the rich it’s great. The latest analysis centers on Wisconsin and the tax cuts that the idiot Walker said would magically create jobs even though they have never worked anywhere else. But, that’s not the worst part of the whole scheme….these idiots missed the projections on what the tax cuts were going to cost the state and now they are more than doubled to almost 300 million dollars a year….and these cuts were a direct transfer to the rich with people with incomes of over a million dollars a year getting almost 80% of the cuts…a direct lie from ole Scotty who said the “middle class” would benefit. Where did the money for these cuts come from….hmmm…it seems like it just matches the amount of money they cut out of the University of Wisconsin system…after all, there are no repubs who want educated people…it makes them much harder to lie to. After the wreckage of Kansas and now the unfolding one in Wisconsin…and in every other state run by repubs that are in dire fiscal states, shouldn’t we be able to bury this tax cut nonsense once and for all? Probably not…since there are so many people driven by hate in this country….and they are all on the repubs side…geez…

Tax cuts don’t create jobs…again….
Well….as the bidding goes on and states keep falling all over themselves to see how much money they can give to corporations to “create jobs”….there have been a couple of new studies that have come out that say that it doesn’t work…two repub budget directors from here in Michigan have weighed in on the Snyder tax cuts for business that were supposed to create jobs…or that ole Snyder is lying about saying they did…there have been no jobs found that can be attributed to those tax cuts…the only thing they have done is bust the budget and ensure that the roads won’t be fixed…there was also another study that I would think would be the final nail in the tax cut coffin….in New York state, they doled out over 30 million dollars to the “job creators” and guess what was the result? 76 jobs…yep, 76 jobs for 30 million dollars of taxpayers money…..when is this idiocy going to stop? geez,,,,,
The facts are in…and have been…
Well…I was going to update on the trip out to the beach today but ran across some facts on tax cuts that are given to business to bribe them to stay in a state, or to move to a state…or, like ole Snyder and his cronies did here in Michigan, just give them tax cuts just because they BELIEVE they work…never to just give more money to their donors in the never ending grift that is the repub party these days. In case you missed it that last part was snark. These two studies, one done in 2004, and another done in 2012 both came to the same conclusion, that tax cuts do nothing to create jobs and also do nothing to grow the economy in the states where this corporate welfare is doled out. So, how do they defend the continued tax cuts that decimate cities and states across the country? They have even given up that pretense…since we know that the repubs are not fact based they don’t care what the facts are…just like they knew there were WMD in Iraq and that torture is the only thing that saved the country from terrorists they just KNOW that tax cuts for business work and no amount to studies or facts can make them reconsider that belief…after all, when they are finally out of office, they want to be able to slop at the trough of free money that tax cuts for business are…geez…
Republican hypocrisy on accountability…
Well…I have been getting ill with all of the crowing our gov here in Michigan has been doing on getting his agenda enacted and the normal repub crap of tax cuts for business on the backs of the retirees here, and their constant mantra of accountability…but the infuriating thing that I have railed about before is that whenever the repubs talk about accountability, it always for the people and groups they don’t like, like teachers, and food stamp recipients, etc. What about accountability for the 2 billion dollars they took out of the people’s pockets and gave to business here? When this idiot pushed the biggest transfer of wealth to the rich in the history of the state, there was nothing in the law that said that this gift had to be justified by any “dashboard accounting” of the number of jobs that were created…just more of the “trust us” nonsense that is the core of the repubs relationship with business. When a basic accounting is done, the estimates are coming in that say that job growth has not been affected one iota by this largess to business…with the majority of the money just going into corporate profits and executive bonuses. So, retirees here in Michigan, you have given up a vacation or a new car, or paying your bills on time just so the repubs you voted for can give that tax money to the already wealthy so they can buy the fourth or fifth car or the new summer home in Harbor Springs….I wonder if they will let you visit it? Oh, that’s right, you don’t have the money for the gas to get there…geez…
More repub hypocrisy…
Well…just sitting here a few minutes ago…well…have been just sitting most of the day recovering from the all day party yesterday and I had a thought…I’m sure you’ve heard the repubs go on an on about accountability, results, and measurement when they talk about education and are always first in line to impose these things on teachers, but what about all of the money they are handing out to business with the new business tax cuts that have just passed the legislature here in Michigan? Nope, not a thing about any regulation whatsoever or even about any accountability for job creation that has been held up as the sole purpose for these cuts. After all, with taxes being raised on you and me, we are paying for these cuts and shouldn’t we be able to ask to see the results? Shouldn’t we be able to recapture these tax cuts if they don’t do anything to create jobs here? I find it funny or maybe consistent that the repubs are all about using the power of government to control individuals behavior, but business gets a free ride to claim our money for their own personal use….since we all know cutting taxes for business without strings attached just puts more money into the hands of the already rich…and has never created one job…not since Reagan…not with Bush, not with anyone…geez…
A couple of funny things…
Well…I just had to comment on the article by Rick Haglund in the GR Press this morning that supports my assertion (as do the numbers behind it) that tax cuts for business and for high income individuals do nothing to create jobs. But, as you know, I take it farther than that by following the money….that these tax cuts go directly to the bonuses of the ceos and board members and are paid by you and me by the increases in our taxes. The figures show that the tax burden for business has been falling for years in Michigan so where are the jobs? As I’ve said before, these tax cuts are ideology driven, not reality based as any economic policy should be.
The second thing I wanted to talk about this morning is the slap in the face to the repubs that came from the health insurance industry over the past couple of days. If you’ve been reading the news lately, you have seen that health insurance premiums have been skyrocketing over the past few months and the repubs have been trying to pin this cost increase on the healthcare law but the repubs had their legs cut out from under them when the industry tied the increases to increases in the cost of care instead. They went further to say that the increases would have been worse without the law. How do you feel about your buddies in the industry now repubs? So, any time you hear a repub talking about “Obamacare” and how it has increased costs, chalk it up to another lie from the liars…should we start doing a lie count everyday? Nope…the numbers would overwhelm me….
One last thing…when you hear any repubs talking about job growth and that cutting spending will create jobs…remember that the cuts they have proposed on the federal level have been projected to cost the country almost a million jobs in the first year….and that doesn’t take into account that these cuts are all politically motivated…do you see any cuts in the subsidies for business? Nope, you didn’t since they are not there….just cuts to the things that benefit the poor and middle class…can’t wait for 2012 to get here and we can send these idiots back to Fox news……geez…
The repubs idea of shared sacrifice…
Well…one of the themes that has come out of the budget nonsense here in Michigan is that of “shared sacrifice’ and is being sold that everyone needs to give a little to help our state survive. But, again, those that are being asked to sacrifice are only the workers and the retired folks here…and this increase in taxes on you and me is going to be used to give business billions in tax breaks since these idiots still believe that giving tax breaks preserves and grows jobs here in Michigan. Let’s take a look at one example that I am personally aware of here in GR where Steelcase was given huge tax breaks to keep jobs here and build state of the art manufacturing facilities…well…guess what was just announced a few weeks back? Steelcase is moving the remaining manufacturing jobs from Michigan to low wage states and Mexico. No matter what the state does, no matter how much the workers give up, it is never enough for business and the repubs that run them…they will never be happy until all of us work for minimum wage no matter what our education level or our contribution to the bottom line. I’ve never shared this from my personal work life; shared how I was treated by business that didn’t care about anything but the bonuses that the ceo’s get….in the week before I was axed…I gave that company over 5 million dollars in cost reduction that went right to the bottom line…and over my career, I was personally responsible for almost 100 million dollars of these lower costs…and they axe me because they were consciously trying to rid themselves of people over 40, my average salary of 60 K a year and 28 years of service meant absolutely nothing to them….
So, giving tax breaks to these fools is not going to ensure that jobs stay here….it will only result in you and I paying for their folly and huge executive bonuses…when will this nonsense stop? Geez….
