Well….it’s a good thing that, finally, the media is starting to catch up with the story of how connected to the Koch brothers Herman Cain is…and if you like what Scott Walker did in Wisconsin (the first governor from Kochland) you will just love what ole Herman has in store for all of us. Isn’t it enough that almost all of his campaign staff has worked for the Koch brothers or one of their front companies over the years and whose strings are still being pulled by the Koch’s? Or should we instead just look at his performance on “Meet the Press” this past Sunday? This man is an idiot, another repub who thinks that just repeating things makes them true, and who truly believes that just because something is simple (like his 999 tax plan) it has to be correct. I marveled when he said that the new 9% national sales tax couldn’t be added to the state sales taxes we already have….so now the repubs don’t believe in math? We already have enough stupidity in Washington, let’s not add to it…geez…

A terrible, terrible Sunday….
Well…I have been thinking about this since the race yesterday where Danny Wheldon was killed…and I can’t shake the feelings that the world is a little darker today without Danny in it….I always enjoyed watching him race and seeing his huge smile when he won Indy….to have him leave behind a young family just makes it that much worse…as I said earlier it brought back feelings I had in 1966 when the first driver a 13 year old kid had ever idolized was killed in an unimportant F2 race in Hockenheim, Germany. Jimmy Clark, “The Flying Scotsman” died when a tire came apart and his car went off into the forest that lined the track. I don’t know what else to say except rest in peace, Danny….
October 17th
Well…not a very good day yesterday…one of the drivers in the Indycar series was killed in the race that I was watching from Las Vegas and it took me back to 1966…I’ll talk about that in one later today…needless to say, that cast a pall over the rest of the day…not much to do today…feeling a little low from yesterday’s events so I am going to end early here and come back later for more….
Okay…got the bike ride in and it was brutal out there again today…I did get number 179 in the books but it looks like I won’t get to 183 if it rains like forecast for Wed…..I just noticed that this is number 1200 in the series…that’s a lot when you think about it…

October 16th
Well….not so good of a day for us here in Michigan yesterday…the Tigers got beaten to a pulp and U of M lost to State…so I guess some people here will be happy…at least the Wings won in OT so that was a plus…it seems like I’m always running late on Sunday and I never know the reason for it…waiting for the rain to stop so I can get out on the bike and make it 178 days…the wind is calm today so it may even be pleasant to go out….not much to do today….not even going to cook today, just use up the leftovers from a couple of days ago, but I do need to watch the Lions to see if they are a good team or not….that should be fun and then there is the F-1 race later…I’ll try to come back later for another one and a song lyric…it will probably be a Pink Floyd since that’s what I listen to on Sundays…more later…
Just bored….
Well…I wonder why it is that even great days can be a letdown…I’m sure it has to do with the anticipation of greatness and when Michigan stunk up the joint at noon the air just came out of it…and I’m bored right now so that is why I’m back here for a little while. I don’t know if I can recapture the excitement for the Tigers game and that is a disappointment. This dish has been giving me fits all day with at lest 4 resets and if it does it again tonight I think I’ll take a hammer to it…oh, don’t have a hammer so I guess I’ll have to improvise…the pizza came out great so that was a plus and helped a little…but the leftover chicken for dinner was just so boring, too…hmmm…I notice a theme here….I hope the wind calms down by tomorrow…don’t know if I can take being out with it blowing 30 again…I was going to do a political one today but the outrage meter is on empty and I really don’t want to fake it….so I guess I’ll go and get the fixins ready a cocktail or two…I did have to put the heat on today and now my furnace has this weird hiccup when it shuts down like it wants to start again; firing up the blower for two seconds and then shutting off….at least I don’t have to pay to have it fixed….just hope it doesn’t kill me in the middle of the night….or do I?
October 15th
Well….another night, more tv, and if that sounds boring, it is…I’m running late today since I was up at 5 or so and then did get back to sleep….it is going to be a sports day today….Man U is on right now and then I have to go out to get the papers at the half to have my coffee and wait for the wind to die down so I can get the bike ride in before the Michigan and State game. Then tonight, there are the Tigers, the Wings, and a race on so I think I’ll have a good excuse to do almost nothing…I am going to make a homemade pizza for the game this aft and I am looking forward to that…I will try to come back later for another one…and the song lyric..
Okay…I’m back after one of the most brutal rides that I can remember…had to pedal hard to even go downhill into the wind and I’m sure I’m going to pay for that tomorrow…paying for it right now since the legs are already hurting and that never happens…oh, well…I’m glad I got it done before the game and that makes it 177…only 6 more to go….

Manny misses the point…again…
Well…I really do have to thank Manny Lopez of the Detroit News today for his column that excoriates the “Occupy” protesters as people just looking for a handout and wanting to do nothing for it. He seems to think that people who have lost their jobs or homes or who are so heaped with student loans should just shut up and go home. He seems to think that people like me (and there are a lot of us) who have done everything right…gotten an education, worked hard,l paid our bills and taxes, and now find ourselves shut out of a feeble economy because what the banks and corporations have done should just stay home and go slowly broke while executive compensation rises 28% in one year.
Not gonna happen, Manny. You’ve got this thing so wrong, again, that I still can’t understand why you still have a job. This movement is about and for the people who no longer have a shot at the American dream, who no longer can compete with the overwhelming voice of corporate money in politics, and out of desperation have begun to use the only tool left to them…peaceful resistance. And, let’s be perfectly clear…the protesters don’t want anything for free, they just want good jobs and the chance to raise families in a world that is more fair than it is now. Is that too much to ask? to Manny and his repub cronies, it is…geez…
October 14th
Well…up early this morning…just couldn’t get back to sleep so I thought I’d just get up and get the day going…well, not going but idling…no dreams to speak of so that was a little of a disappointment..I did have a nice day with finally getting to see T for a while and having a couple…and the Tigers won along with the Wings so how could it get better? Not much to do today…really, not much to do today…I can’t think of anything other than riding the bike if it stops raining…more later…

The repubs punch the tea party in the face…
Well…if there was any doubt that the repubs have been cynically using the tea party to consolidate their traditional power, the punch in the face on the trade bills should put that doubt to rest. In the last couple of days, the repub controlled house and the senate repubs all voted against the wishes of the tea party and approved trade agreements with Columbia, South Korea, and others that was one of the key reasons for the tea party’s existence. How do you feel now tea party? It’s what I have said here many times that these folks in the tea party were just being used by the billionaires and business to get a compliant congress that would give them whatever they want…no matter that these agreement will cost many, many, jobs here and most of them will be from people that make up the tea party. With these agreements, the real power behind the tea party has been exposed for what it is…just the rich, powerful and business stealing more and more from the rest of us…geez…
October 13th
Well…another disappointing night with the Tigers losing another one…but I was good so I feel pretty good today..it was boring being good, though but I do understand the need for it…sleep was okay with just a couple of dreams with Russian spies and lots of snow in them but nothing complete or complex to report. It looks like it may be a little difficult to get the ride in today since it’s going to start raining in a couple of hours and I do have the grocery run to get in before I go….so it may be I end at 174 days in a row…only 9 short so I don’t feel that bad about it…not much to do today…might meet up with T for a couple later but that’s about it…I will be back later with more political stuff since there are some things happening that I need to comment on….
Okay…needed a little addendum to this morning’s…just got back from the bike ride so that is 175 days in a row…only 8 more…
