Well….with the results trickling in, it appears that the dems had a pretty good night last night with taking back control of the House and Whitmer winning the governor’s race here in Michigan, I should be dancing but I’m not sure why I still feel a sense of unease about the election…part of that is the fact the the repubs gained a couple of senate seats even though the dems got 10 million more votes across the country. That is a direct result of the repubs rigging the election and that will continue until we take back the senate in 2020…an election I may not even see. Yep, kind of depressed this morning and I don’t know why…I should be dancing at the fact that Scott Walker lost in Wisconsin…I should be dancing that Dana Rohrbacher, Putin’s buddy in the house, lost and will be gone….I should be dancing that the notorious vote suppressor and racist Kris Kobach lost in Kansas…and I should be dancing that all three proposals passed here in Michigan and the 2020 re-districting will be fair and out of reach of the repub gerrymanders that have allowed them to win this state with much less of the vote than the dems got in every election since 2010. I think part of my sadness this morning is that many right wing repub assholes still got elected even though they are under indictment or investigation for things that any dem would have resigned over but the repubs treat as a badge of honor….oh, well…at least there will be no more repub nonsense here in Michigan and look forward to taking both the state senate and house when the fair maps are used in 2020…then the state can move forward again…I can hope anyway…

Scott Walker needs to lose today…
Well…just a shorty on a news article that just came across my phone…one of the idiot Scott Walker’s biggest arguments for his re election is that he lured Foxconn (the Chinese electronics manufacturer) to Wisconsin and they were going to create over 15,000 jobs for the 4.1 billion dollars in state subsidies they were given by idiot boy. Almost immediately after Walker made that commitment, as Foxconn always does, the project started to change along with the number of jobs that Foxconn promised…and over the course of the year since Walker signed the check, the jobs projected have continued to shrink…it’s now down to “around” 5,000 jobs and the integrated engineering center that Foxconn promised to build as part of the project has morphed into renting a couple of buildings to house a tiny engineering staff. The kicker in the whole thing? Foxconn has just applied to the feds to be allowed to bring in the entire engineering staff from China since they can’t “find” any qualified engineers in the US…and by “find” that means any engineers that are willing to work for the slave wages that Foxconn is willing to pay. How does that 4.1 billion subsidy look now Wisconsinites? How does that 250,000 dollar subsidy for every job look now? Walker has been able to con everyone in Wisconsin for years that he and his repub cronies are the only ones who can create jobs but, at 250,000 per job, a monkey could create these jobs…and it is not clear if any jobs will ever be created there since Foxconn has a long history of promising the moon and then delivering nothing as they slink away with the subsidy cash. Today, Wisconsin, you have the chance to send Walker packing…don’t screw it up…geez…
Get out and vote…
Well…today’s the day I have been both looking forward to and dreading for months…it’s election day here in the US and it could be the most important election in the history of this country…and that is not hyperbole…if you want to stop the country’s slide into fascism and put and end to the damage the repubs have done over the past two years….get out and vote…if you want to stop the idiot trump’s agenda…that is to say the agenda of the 1%, get out and vote….if you want to start to fix the damage that the repubs have done to Michigan, get out and vote….if you want to hold politicians accountable, get out and vote…oh, did I day get out and vote? Today is the day we can re instate the rule of law in this country but only if you vote…and vote for dems up and down the ticket….so get the hell out and vote…l will be at around 10…and I have cocktails to either celebrate starting the political repair process or to mourn the death of the US….
Might be the last election one…
Okay…have been following the election a little closer that I should be but, with a chance to end the repub nightmare both in Michigan and across the country, it is really important to know what is going on. Here in Michigan, the polling is showing some good news for those of us who are tired of the repub scams and just want the chance for our state to work for everyone, not just corporations and the rich. All three proposals are ahead with more than double digit leads that I’m hoping will hold for two more days…but I am a little concerned that the DeVos’s are pouring huge amounts of money into defeating the redistricting and making it easier to vote proposals (numbers 2 and 3) that would make their money irrelevant, or make it less relevant and prevent them from buying the government like they have since at least 2010. The ads they are running are just full of lies and decry that it could cost the state 10 million dollars every 10 years to run the commission that would draw the new district lines…but, my response is that it is a cheap price to ensure that no political party can hijack our state again and implement policies like right to work that only a small sliver of the residents want. The governor’s race is still looking good for us with Whitmer up around 8 points or so in the latest aggregate of the polls done late last week and that looks good for us to get rid of Schuette permanently…any time we can make another trump lover go away it is a good day…and another good sign is that Schuette has cancelled ad buys this past week…ensuring that he at least walks away with cash when he loses….there is a possibility of picking up some seats both in the Michigan house and senate but there is not much polling out there to comment on so I won’t…let’s just say that with a dem governor, there will be a brake on any more repub shennanigans and we should be able survive until 2020 when we will take back the entire government here with the implementation of Prop2…it can’t come too soon….
Vote for Debbie…
Well…There is just one race left that I wanted to talk about before the election Tuesday and that is the one senate seat that is up for a vote…now, there is really no choice to be made here….the only person to vote for is Debbie Stabenow, who has devoted her entire life to serving the people of Michigan…both in the Michigan legislature and for the past two terms as one of our US senators. I have worked with Debbie in the past when I was a parent lobbyist for the Kentwood schools during the Prop A fight and found her to be dedicated to what is best for the people of Michigan, not for the rich or corporations like her challenger has already admitted is his focus. So, let’s not elect another trump clone to do more damage than has already been done and let’s send a good senator back to continue the great work she has done for all of the citizens of Michigan.
The proposals…
Well…as I said yesterday, with my medical procedure taking me out of commission Sunday and Monday, I am going to try to get to all of the politics that I would normally deal with on the day before the election. So, let’s start with the proposals on the ballot here in Michigan…oh, and these proposals are citizen led and deal with the fact that the repub cheaters that control the state don’t care what the people want…they just care about their donors and the rich so the people of the state took these important issues into their own hands and got the hundreds of thousands of signatures that put them on the ballot. Proposal one deals with making marijuana for personal, recreational use legal in the state…taxed and regulated like alcohol and the tax money will go towards many programs that the repubs have decimated in recent years. I have to agree that this one should be passed for no other reason than the damage the prohibition has done to the state and it’s residents…locking up thousands of people (and very disproportionately people of color) for possessing a plant that has been demonized for political purposed since it was first made illegal in the 30’s. Proposal 2 would create an independent committee to draw the state’s legislative districts, taking the control out of the hands of politicians (the repubs) who always cheat since they can’t win elections if they don’t. This control that the repubs used in last redistricting to cement their control of Michigan even when dems got more than 10% more votes than the repubs in the last election. So, this one is a yes if you think fair elections are necessary for a fair society. Really the only thing you need to know about prop 2 is that the DeVos family is spending millions to defeat it since they will no longer be able to buy the legislature if the districts are fair. Proposal 3 also deals with voting rights and makes it easier for people to register and vote…another thing that the repubs are against since they only want white repubs to vote and have done their best to make sure it stays that way even though the state is much more diverse than their power base here in West Michigan. So, a yes vote on every proposal will make this a much more fair state and get rid of the failed war on drugs….so do it, get out and vote!
No market for American soybeans…
Well…I am stifling the urge to laugh at all of the farmers in red states and blue who voted for an ignorant moron for president and who are now seeing their livelihoods destroyed by his stupid tariffs. I know I’ve written about this before, but the carnage in the soybean markets just gets worse and worse with huge piles of beans spreading across the plains since there is no market for them anymore with China, India, and other huge markets now closed to us by the retaliatory tariffs place by countries who were attacked by the idiot trump. Even if our farmers can find anyone to buy their soybeans, there are selling at a loss of over 2 dollars a bushel and have put many, many farmers on the brink of bankruptcy…but, as I’ve said before, when these farmers are interviewed, they still back idiot boy 100%…which, to me, is the purest embodiment of the repub voters who have continually voted against their own economic interests just to support the racists and liars who infest the party today. There has been an outcry on the left during the election season to try to use the tariffs to convince the people affected to vote for the dems who will protect them from idiot boy, but if losing their farms and their life’s work hasn’t changed their minds, why would a dem who they hate be able to do it? I say let them sink…after all, they are the party of “personal responsibility” and need to be held responsible for inflicting trump on the rest of us…impeach…
Let’s talk about Michigan…
Well…with the colonoscopy rapidly approaching Monday, and the prep that is going to put me out of commission both Sunday and Monday, I thought I’d talk about some local Michigan election issues before that…to start, get the hell out to vote Tuesday if you haven’t already….that’s the start and I don’t care if you vote for dems (okay, yeah I do) or for the cheaters on the other side, just take an hour out of your busy day and vote. Let’s start with the race for governor here in Michigan where we have Gretchen Whitmer, the dem, up against the waste of space Bill Schuette, the repub….now, if you remember a few years back when the repubs were trying to insert themselves into every woman’s health care decisions by restricting abortion care…again…and Gretchen got thrown out of the state senate by the repubs who control it for saying “vagina” on the floor of the senate…that should be enough to vote for a feisty woman who cares about fairness and truth in government…but, there are so many other reasons to vote for her that I won’t list them here but will just say that she is a true progressive who will take this state forward, not back to the 1800’s like Schuette wants and has tried to do as AG. Now, let’s remember the millions of your tax dollars that Schuette spent to try to keep our LGBT friends from getting the equality they have a right to…that they are guaranteed in the constitution…but to Schuette and his troglodyte cronies, they are less than second class citizens who need to be hated and attacked. Only one other thing you need to know about Schuette, other than he’s a trump loving right wing asshole…and that is he didn’t care when Snyder and his incompetents were poisoning the people of Flint to try to save a little money….resisting all calls for an investigation into the decisions when it is the AG’s responsibility to protect the citizens of this state from malfeasance of the government….so, it’s a pretty clear choice of who would be better for you and I and this state…vote for Gretchen and let’s put the dark days of repub control behind us…for good…
Trump gets dumber every day…
Well…if you didn’t think that the idiot trump was the dumbest damn person in the entire country, you just had to hear of his latest “plan” to carry out his hatred against brown people by eliminating birthright citizenship for people he doesn’t like. Now, he has shown his utter lack of understanding of how anything works so damn many times that I am getting tired of writing about it but I just had to talk about this one since it is the pinnacle of ignorance…just this morning, idiot boy said he is going to end birthright citizenship by issuing an executive order to repeal the 14th amendment…now, just writing that made me laugh since it is so absurd and so the essence of that ignorant fool….every schoolkid who has gotten past the fifth grade understands that it takes 2/3 of the members of the house and senate or by a constitutional convention called by 2/3 of state legislatures and then would need to be voted on to repeal it…it can’t be repealed by the whim of an idiot president and his crony enablers…look, we all know what this latest trial balloon is, just a distraction to motivate idiot boy’s racist base to get out to vote next week….since that worked so well in 2016, he’s doing it again….what a moron….followed by morons…impeach….
trump’s not invited…
Well…sitting here waiting for the sun to come up so I can get out on the bike and I just read an article that made this question pop into my head: “How bad of a person do you have to be to have an entire state tell you to stay the hell away?” This is exactly what happened this morning when the Mayor of Pittsburgh told trump in no uncertain terms that he is not welcome at any of the memorial ceremonies for the 11 people murdered by a trump follower over the weekend….and this follows being told to stay away from Barbara Bush’s and John McCain’s funerals, something that has not happened to a *president in the history of this country. Is this telling you something idiot boy? Your bullshit is wearing mighty thin with everyone in this damn country other than the trump zombies that show up at your taxpayer funded “rallies” which are nothing more than proto nazi ego fluffing at it’s worst….so, keep deluding yourself that you’re popular, that you are not the worst, most evil person to walk the face of this country…the mid terms are coming in a week and with any luck you and your bullshit will end….there is still an orange jumpsuit waiting for you when you leave office…and this time, unlike GW Bush, you will pay for your crimes…impeach…
