Well…kind of bombshell today when the crazy bastard Jim DeMint decided to resign his seat in the senate to take charge of the Heritage foundation…a right wing “think tank” that is one of the echo chambers funded by the crazy billionaires in the repub party. Now, if you are a progressive like me, this is a great bit of news since ole Jim was the biggest backer of “legitimate rape” Todd Akin, and gave him almost 100k for his election run. But, this is not the only bit of craziness that ole Jim has exhibited in his time int he senate…this idiot once promised to put holds on any bill introduced in the senate unless it was cleared and approved with his office first….and on and on…he even criticized Boehners stupid plan for debt reduction for not being far enough to the right…what a maroon.
Okay…now the bad news…our wonderful governor here in Michigan has broken his promise to the people of Michigan by changing his mind and supporting right-to-work legislation that is the darling of the owner class and a direct attack on the middle class. All I have to say to him is actions have consequences…and the amendment that didn’t pass last time that would have protected workers right to organize is going to win in a landslide in the next election. Why do all of the repubs need to participate in the race to the bottom for our middle class…thankfully, in two more years these clowns will be gone and we can begin to repair the damage that has been done to workers here…geez…
Well…not sure if there is anything that would be a big topic for the day so I think I’ll do some small ones and see what happens…I found the surveys that have been done on the aftermath of the Papa John’s healthcare debacle quite interesting…in addition to the huge sales drop they have seen, the public’s attitude towards PJ’s and the idiot owner have crashed and burned, too…and the promotion that they have now to give away 2 million free pizzas, assuming a 3 dollar cost per pizza, would be enough to provide health insurance for everyone that works there…you can see the priority that this moron has…and it is sad since his underpaid workers are who has made the company all the money over the years…the second thing I found funny was that Fox news has put the use of ole Karl Rove and Dick Morris on hold since they have proven that they are not the geniuses that they promote themselves as being…now, if we could get the same standard applied to the rest of the talking idiots over there we might be getting somewhere….hmmm…what else? Not much right now…but I may come back for more later…I did have one I wanted to talk about but I forgot what it was…
Oh…just found out that Dave Brubeck died….ever since the first time I heard “Take Five” I’ve felt that it was what jazz should be…I think I’ll go out and find a copy on the web…l
Well…a weird thought just popped into my head…what if the intransigence of the repubs is rooted in the fact that they just don’t have the capacity to think? What if they are just not bright enough to understand the complexity of this country and that is why they stick to their doctrinaire nonsense? It is certainly easier to stand up and say that you’re “flabbergasted” then it is to put forward a serious plan…I think they just got into this “put Obama out of office” crap and used that as a replacement for governing and they don’t have the intelligence to replace it….I can’t wait for the country to go over the cliff and stomp on these idiots once and for all…they and their ideas don’t deserve any respect and I applaud Obama for finally calling “bullshit” on them…geez…
Well…I have been amazed over the past few days with the behavior of the repubs in congress and their response to the Obama plan to start to tame the deficit…I am particularly amazed that these guys are still so unserious that they offered the Romney plan that had no details or numbers in it other than some general numbers that it looks like they pulled out of their asses. Repubs, you lost the frickin election and if you think you have any leverage, you are certifiably crazy. Who the hell are you representing? When the majority (over 60%) of the American people looked at your plans and said HELL NO….you must be delusional that you think that anyone other than your rich masters want what you are selling. Let’s get this perfectly clear..tax cuts for the rich DO NOT LEAD to jobs….every economist, except the one the repubs listen to, Arthur Laffer, tells you the same thing and yet you want to keep doing it expecting different result…this is the definition of mental illness…and some of the repubs in the house even came out today and said that they wanted to let payroll taxes rise on the working class saying “they have to feel some pain”…I kid you not…they want to protect the rich from any “pain” in the form of higher tax rates, but they are willing to push that pain onto workers…these folks do not deserve to have anyone take them seriously…I hope the White House see it the same way…geez…
Well…I am laughing my butt off about ole Boehner’s statement the other day that he was “flabbergasted” about the WH’s offer on the budget negotiations…and he couldn’t understand how Obama could be so tough….John, there was an election, you guys lost…and Obama is doing exactly what he campaigned on and what the American people approved….and what do we get in response from mr. flabber? We get a re-run of the Ryan budget that has been rejected twice now by the American people….and 65% of Americans want taxes raised on the rich…can’t these people move into the real world? I hope they keep it up….the only reason they still have the House is that they fixed the election in many districts….so, the order of the day is attack from our side…keep just going on putting our ideas to the American people who love them…no negotiations with these thugs…not now, not ever…geez…
Well…have been reading a lot about the proposals that have been floated over the past few years about how to “save” social security since it is not going to be too long before I’m going to be that age…so, it has a real meaning to me. One of the things that the repubs are lying about again is the need to raise the retirement age since people are living longer…and, as always, they are just bad at math or are deliberately misleading people about the changes in life expectancy…which one do you think? I’ll go for the deliberate lies…I will admit that life expectancy has risen over the past 50 years, but you have to look into the numbers to see why…and the major reason is that less children are dying young from preventable diseases so the average goes up…not hard math to understand but it appears they don’t understand it. But, the second part of this puzzle is that the people that are living longer are concentrated in the upper classes…people who have had easier lives and good health care their entire lives…these people actually do live longer, but those that have done physical labor their entire lives don’t…so, raising the retirement age for these folks puts them at an age where they will probably die within a few years of retiring…just what the repubs have said jokingly is the solution to SS’s problems…don’t let them get away with this lie…geez…
Well…I do need to get this one in to get to the quota for the month so I thought I’d just noodle around a little and see what happens…I can’t believe how stupid the repubs have been in this whole deficit fight…last year, they wouldn’t take a deal that gave them 10 bucks of cuts for every buck of revenue increase because they really thought, in their deluded little minds, that they were going to win the presidency and the senate and then be able to do their slash and burn on medicare and Social security while given even bigger tax cuts to the rich. Guess what repubs? You lost and the dems ran on raising taxes on the rich and preserving the social programs…so why the heck are you surprised that this is what the dems are doing? Are you just stupid? You lost, and now you roll out the rejected Ryan budget as your one and only attempt to avoid the fiscal slope? I just hope you keep it up…keep showing the American people you don’t give a damn about them while we salivate about the prospects of 2014…what a bunch of idiots…geez…
Well…listening to all of the talk, talk, talk that is going on about the budget negotiations, I have a piece of advice for both sides but for the dems in particular. Stop using loaded words when you talk about the negotiations….watching the news last night all I heard from the commentators on the left and in the middle was that the repubs were going to “cave” or “buckle” on tax increases on the wealthy to start to work on the deficit…and I think that these kinds of words mean something and are making any such deal even harder. I think it goes back to the Japanese concept of “face”, and it would be a good idea for the dems to think about how they can work to help the repubs save face in these negotiations and stop rubbing the fact that they got smacked in the last election in their faces. Of course, I would propose that this would only go so far as the repubs actually governing for the entire country and not their rich bosses….if they can come to the table with facts and be adults, I think it would be good for those of us on the left to help them…and go back to governing the country, not just fighting all the time…
Well…I really do need to comment on an article that was in the Daly Kos this morning about the utter glee that the Christian right is taking in the new “kill the gays” bills that are being passed through the legislature in Uganda. A little history is in order first…as the people of the US become more tolerant and understanding of gays and lesbians here, and the christian right sees they are losing the battle for discrimination against them, these ugly folks have taken their poison overseas; most notably to Africa. Groups like the Family Research Council, headed by the noted homophobe Tony Perkins have been instrumental in using the donations to their organizations here in the states to spread the plague of discrimination, going so far as to “advise” African countries on how to write laws that criminalize being gay…and yesterday, commenting on the law said “it is a worthy modern example” of the laws he would like to see restored here in the US. Another one of these so-called christians, Bryan Fischer, of the American Family Association tweeted this in response to the legalization of murder of gays…”Homosexuality is now against the law in Uganda, just as it was for 200 years on America, it can be done”, implying that he thinks that killing gays is the right thing to do in the US as well. If you had any question about how the modern republican party thinks about gays and lesbians, you just need to look at these two guys…who sponsor the “values voters” summit that all of the repubs attend and pledge their allegiance to. What kind of a value is it to support killing another human being because of who they are? It is breathtaking to hear the unvarnished truth of the type of folks that are the core of the modern repub party….even being an atheist, I can see that these guys are not christians…they are not even human beings…geez…
Well…it seems to me that the repubs never learn…even with the smackdown they got in this last election, they are still up to their right wing nonsense here in Michigan…with the new bill that has been introduced in the legislature here that would grant a tax credit to fetuses…never mind they took away the tax credits to actual children, these idiots just want to continue to try to take away the rights of women to make their own health decisions…thinly veiled attempts to eliminate abortion here in Michigan by making it unaffordable…all I have to say is keep it up…the people started to see through your nonsense in the last election and this will make it even easier for us to take back the state house…the days of the right wing repub party are numbered and I can’t be more happy to see a return to respect for everyone that lives here and to legislate for all of us…not just the loonies on the right..geez…l
