Trying to get caught up….

Well…still in hibernation mode so I thought I’d come back to do another of these to get the backlog down some….but, I’m not sure what to write about….the wind is blowing so hard and loud that I thought they were plowing the lot…and the poor Miata is sitting out there in the cold looking pretty forlorn…I am looking forward to the congress being back and the stupidity on the right starting again…and it has with another dishing expedition from a couple of right winger congresscritters..they now want all of the notes, memos, etc. having to do with the hypothetical trillion dollar coin that had been proposed to get around the debt ceiling hostage taking by the repubs….more money spent, more time wasted for nothing…but that is what the repubs do…they don’t give a damn about millions of unemployed not getting their benefits…but, they will spend millions for nothing….or to try to score political points…okay, that’s enough for now….more later…

One more for today…

Well…have been trying to instill some discipline in myself over the past few days so I am going to try to keep up by doing at least one more of these today…one funny thing I wanted to comment on was some right wing tea party idiot out in Utah who has said he will be on a hunger strike until they rescind the court rulings that have made marriage equality the law of the land. The only thing I have to say is good luck with that…I wonder if we could encourage all the tea partiers to do the same thing all across the country…we could make them martyrs to their cause…and get rid of them at the same time…after all, these folks have more in common with the Taliban than the rest of the US. And, this is how stupid this idiot is…he wants to use the completely unconstitutional method of nullification where states don’t have to follow any federal laws they don’t like…even though this nonsense is forbidden by the very constitution they say they revere and want followed to the letter. I just shake my head when these idiots pop their heads up and point out their ignorance and stupidity….geez…

Noodling, noodling…

Well…have been reading a bunch of news all day but nothing is leaping out at me to comment on…I did read a little blurb about a repub who is running in the primary for US senate seat from one of the New England states and it was just refreshing…or maybe I should say astonishing what this idiot thinks is a plus for his campaign…he was convicted of beating his then wife, and then appealed the conviction all the way to the state supreme court since he didn’t believe that they should take anything a woman says in domestic violence situations as evidence….and then went on to denigrate the legal system and everyone else who dared to hold him responsible for his actions…and, this is what he thinks is his best trait: that he will do what he thinks is right no matter what anyone else thinks…and he just can’t get it that this not representing people but just being another stubborn, tea party ass who will just add to the dysfunction in congress. Just another instance where the repubs don’t believe that laws apply to them at all…but are really quick to impose government on anyone they don’t agree with…say, like all women…geez…

Just some stuff….

Well..just remembered that I need to do two of these today but almost forgot….have been doing prep for the interview all day and am just about done…so, I thought I’d comment on a new article from the NY Times that basically says that everything that the Obama administration has said about Benghazi was true….not in the fever dreams of the right, of course, but all of the eyewitnesses who were interviewed said the same thing,,,that it was not an al Queada attack…it was a bunch of pissed off Libyans who were attacking because of blasphemy to Islam of some such nonsense….but, ole Issa just couldn’t believe it and went on the sunday shows saying it was still all lies…yadda, yadda…yeah, so we’re going to believe an arsonist, high school dropout and not the NY Times? Not me…Issa is just a waste of space that is wasting our money, too…geez…

Maybe some good news…

Well… have been looking for a topic without much luck so I guess I’ll just try to do a couple of shorties to get back in the groove…one thing I did read today is a heartening new set of polls that show, even in red states, that the repubs are being blamed for not renewing the unemployment benefits that expire on the 28th. And, it’s not even close….all of the polls put the approval rate in the mid to upper 60’s…not something that the repub idiots should ignore…after all, who are they supposed to be representing? If the people in these districts want partisanship put aside to help their fellow citizens, shouldn’t the repubs listen? Yeah, I know, the only thing they listen to is money and their masters don’t want the extension approved…geez…

Utah falls…

Well…as you can see, I am running behind for the month and I am trying not to do any fillers just to hit the numbers…but, I do have a shorty about something that happened in Utah this afternoon…today, a federal district court judge ruled that the ban on marriage equality is unconstitutional even though it is part of Utah’s constitution…the cool thing was that he based his ruling on the US constitution and the equal protection clause…this, in itself, is new for the court rulings up to this date….all of them until now have been state court rulings like the one in NM earlier in the week…so, this means that the rest of the states, like Michigan, who have enshrined discrimination into their constitutions, are now on notice that this crap will not last since the US constitution supersedes state ones….

Rick Scott shows what a true republican is…

Well…have been reading all morning trying to find topics to get caught up on these and ran across a story that is the true distillation of republicanism playing out in Florida…with the tax cuts for the rich decimating the budget there, the gov, Rick Scott, has indiscriminately slashed the budgets of all departments of the government…with huge cuts to child and family services that Scott said is necessary to “grow jobs” in Florida. But the unintended consequence, or maybe it is intended, is that over the past few months, 40 children have died because there are just no longer enough case workers to go around and highly at risk children were returned to dangerous home situations. I’m not sure what else to say about it…but, it point outs the callousness and disdain that the poor get from republicans since they are “takers” in their eyes…geez…

Need to pick on Walker again…

Well…I am feeling considerably better now that I have my Walkman working again and I have played 5 songs without the battery going dead..so, I thought I pick on one of my favorite targets again and his dismal record of job creation that has been mirrored in every other state that is run by the repubs…the latest data from the BLS shows that Wisconsin’s job creation rate under Walker is less than half the national average and trails dem run states by as much as 50%…yep, Walker, the poster boy for the repub agenda of right to work for less, less taxes for corporations, and union busting has basically trashed Wisconsin’s economy by that nonsense…just as Snyder has done here in Michigan…where the only job growth has been in the auto industry and whose assistance by the federal government was opposed by every repub here in this state. I can’t stress this enough…the states are laboratories for repub ideas and by the objective numbers in every measure, they fall far short of progressive policies that serve to protect the middle class and reign in the egregious income inequality that the repub policies are designed to make worse while they enrich the 1%. I will be really interested to see how this idiot spins these numbers…oh, that’s right, they go by gut feel, not no stinkin numbers…geez…

Obamacare polls…

Well…after the bottom was reached in the polling on Obamacare a few weeks back, and after the website was fixed to where most users are now able to use it, the numbers have come back to where it has an almost even favorable/unfavorable rating…but that doesn’t stop the right from continuing to lie about the program and say that a great majority of the people in the US don’t like the law…one thing that I have to keep stressing to people is to go deeper into the numbers…while it is true that the numbers are even right now, there has always been 15-20 points of those in the disapproval column that disapprove because the law is not single payer and does not cut the insurance companies out completely. So, if you add even the low side of 15% back to the approval side of 46%, you get a good majority of people who approve of the law, although some of them hold their noses while doing it since it is better than the previous system. It is clear that the majority of people in the US, other than the tea party idiots, want the system changed and want it to be given a chance while improving the law as flaws surface…as things have been done since this country started…at least until the right wing infection of the repub party…geez…

A win for us and the 4th amendment..

Well…have been trying to figure out what to write today..there are plenty of topics but none of them have been grabbing me…but, this one just came across my Twitter feed and it is a cheerable moment for me and should be for everyone in the US…and across the world…just this aft, a federal judge has ruled that the gross capturing of all of our phone records by the NSA is unconstitutional…saying that it violates the 4th amendment and that “James Madison would be spinning in his grave…”.
Finally, a judge that has said enough to all this nonsense…anyone who has ever read the constitution knows that the 4th is very simple…you can’t search peoples lives without probable cause that a crime has been committed….and just using the phone is not illegal so the leap to collecting every phone record has to be against the law. Period. The only bad thing is that he stayed his decision until the appeal is completed…but, with how the decision was worded, this judge feels that the plaintiffs will prevail in any appeal…he should have made it immediate…would have saved billions of dollars…a good piece of deficit reduction….geez…
