Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I didn’t get much done…pretty much vegged it all day under the new blanket from T…slept crappy again and I am really disappointed I’m getting back into that pattern…but, what can you do? I feel a little better today but my lungs are still inflamed from something and that is getting annoying…but, I can breathe today and I don’t feel like I’m drowning so that is a little improvement….and, the teeth are only hurting a little today so I may delay the ibuprofen until after the workout and just see how bad they will get….I think the pain is from grinding them this time so I think it may just go away….not much to do today…it is cold outside so I may just hibernate a little and clean today after sending the resumes….more later….
The FA cup…
Well….as you know, I’m a big soccer fan and I have written about it a few times here when something happens that I need to talk about. This weekend in the FA cup (the English Football Association), one of the many tournaments that the BPL and other European teams play in, there were happenings that made me grin like an idiot…not that I don’t look like that all the time. I wonder if it is wrong to root against teams that oppose your favorite? If it is, than I was really, really wrong this weekend…and really, really happy. that is because both Chelsea and Manchester City got beaten by teams from the lower leagues that are part of the contest….I guess I should explain how the leagues work there…they have tiers of leagues just like our A, AA, AAA, and the major leagues in baseball, but in this tournament they play each other…so you can have the analog of the the Tigers playing the Whitecaps in a win to move ahead tournament. But, that’s not what I wanted to talk about…just wanted to be happy that Man U’s nemesis all lost this weekend and they are still in it….yeah, I know, doesn’t mean much to you but it does to me….
I guess the 14th amendment doesn’t apply to women…
Well…haven’t been thinking at all today but a thought just popped into my head and I thought I’d do some musing on it…with all of the abortion restrictions and government interference into women’s health decisions that have been written into law by the repubs across the country, I guess the 14th amendment doesn’t apply to women. As you know, the 14th amendment deals with equal protection under the law and that no laws can be written or accepted that only apply to select set of the citizenry…but, all of the mischief that the repubs have done since Roe was decided is directly opposed this amendment…when did the repubs ever write a law that interfered with men’s health decisions? I think the next challenge to these laws need to be couched in the language of the 14th to make the courts affirm that yes, women do have the right to control their own bodies just like men do…and put this repub nonsense to rest forever…geez…
January 25th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I feel like crap again this morning…have been coughing and wheezing since last night and I’m not sure what the heck is going on…it almost felt like I was drowning last night and had to work hard to just get enough oxygen….it’s better this morning but there is still something wrong…seems like another bug…didn’t sleep well at all with the breathing problems but that can be rectified later today with a nap….had a nice dinner out with friends last night and it was good to get out and have some fun but it was hard to spend money on eating out….not much to do today…just realized I’m 4 behind for the month so that will be a goal for the day to get caught up…and do it with things that are not just fillers…that may be harder than it looks….more later…
January 24th
Well….running late today with the internet being down and then the computer giving me fits this morning…it was an okay day yesterday and I won at pool so that was cool….had a really nice lunch with T, catching up from her trip to the Bahamas and other stuff that has happened in the past 3 weeks….got a couple of presents from her that were pretty thoughtful and I am still smiling from that this morning….it’s good to have her back in town…other than that, I didn’t do much yesterday but fix the teeth and run around and today looks the same…not the teeth since they barely hurt this morning…but I have some errands to run and then out to dinner for a friends birthday at Ichiban that should be fun…then back here for a relaxing night…more later…

Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I did get a few things done so that was some small accomplishment…but the damn tooth hurts again this morning and I am getting really tired of it…need to get the taxes done so I can have them fixed soon or I’m going to go crazy…slept okay last night but I feel kind of crappy today and it’s my fault…I did talk to one of my sons last night for a while and that was cool…just a neat person and so much fun….it looks like I am just going to try to endure the morning and then out to lunch with T later…and pool today but that is about it….I hope the ibuprofen kicks in soon….more later…
This guy is running for president?
Well….I marvel at the ignorance of those on the right about the constitution they profess to revere almost every day…but, that marveling has reached a new level with the latest nonsense to come out of Mike Huckabee….the idiot from Kansas. With the tide of marriage equality rolling across the country, mostly driven by courts that find the the 14th amendment to the constitution means that equal protection applies to everyone, ole Huck came out the other day with a statement that says the way he understands the constitution, states don’t have to follow the rulings of the courts…especially federal courts and can go their own way on marriage equality. Now, this is not the first time these idiots on the right think that the states can pick and choose what federal laws or court rulings they have to follow…the answer is all of them….but, to have a supposed presidential candidate come out and say that he still believes in “nullification”, a doctrine that was outlawed by the supreme court in the 1800’s, shows that he is in no way qualified by temperment or judgement to be president in any world but the delusional one that the right lives in. I am still shaking my head at the stupidity of these folks….geez…
January 22nd
Well….it was an okay day yesterday but I didn’t get much done, again, and I need to get moving and at least clean a little…slept okay for the third day in a row with being good but I am having problems getting the tooth repair to hold so it hurts this morning….will have to figure that out later today but not now….there were dreams again last night but nothing cool with Neil Young in it so that was a little disappointing….I do have to do the grocery run today but there is not much on the list…need to save some cash to pay the car insurance bill and that will take most of what I have in the drawer so I will have to starve a little over the next month unless I can make some cash….oh, well…that really works out well with not being on the bike so I can maintain my weight a little better….haven’t gained as much as a normal winter so maybe this is the way to go about it…more later….
SOTU….
Well…with all of the hype about the state of the union yesterday, I figured I’d probably take a shot at what I think…as if I don’t every day here…I thought the speech was one of the best that I have heard Obama do…aggressive, confidant, and full of themes that dems should have been talking about in the past election…if they would have, they probably would have held the senate and gotten the turnout they needed. But, better late than never and this gives our side the roadmap we need to use to go into the 2016 elections…we need to be dems again and aggressively protect the middle class. The funny thing that I saw was the repubs sitting on their hands all night…just because Obama was saying the right things…he could have been for mom and apple pie and they would have sat there with the dour looks on their faces that they had. I think this is the start of finally distinguishing between the two parties..we can’t be repub lite and expect people to care….I can’t wait to see the political ads that are constructed using the shots from the speech…the repubs hating on popular policies with the general public…they are delusional if they think their pettiness won’t come with a cost..finally….geez…
January 21st
Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I didn’t get much done…slept okay for a second night and had some weird dreams that had T, Neil Young, Linda Rondstadt, and others in it..along with dinner for some reason…and bleeding and lost phones…yep, really quite weird but at least I had one….the tooth is still not hurting for a second day and I could get used to it….but I am sore for a second day from sleeping and I can’t figure that one out….but, it’s a good trade in my eyes and I am not going to complain….not much to do today…it did snow last night and the car is covered again but it has still been a better winter than last year and it looks like it may just continue for a while…only 6 more weeks and we may see some cracks in the cold and I can get back on the bike again…I really do miss it…more later…..
