Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I had a nice lunch with T so that made it better…but it is still too damn cold outside and that is making me a little depressed…I want to get the summer tires back on the car but there may be snow this week so I guess that will have to wait….slept okay but got up early to see the first F1 race of the season since they still haven’t shut off the channel that carries it…and, Man U is on that same channel this morning so that is pretty cool, too…didn’t get anything accomplished yesterday and today looks about the same with all of the sports on…Michigan and State, racing and then the Wings later so it looks like I’ll just write today off, too…making corned beef and cabbage today for St. Patty’s day even though it’s tomorrow…I like to cook big meals on Sunday and there will be enough leftovers for tomorrow….more later…
Just some stuff…
Well…in an effort to not get any farther behind, just thought I’d come back to talk about a few things that I read today…the first one is how petty the repubs are becoming since they are losing the battle for bigotry against gays and lesbians…in South Carolina, the repub controlled legislature there voted to cut funding for a couple of public universities because they put some books about the experience of being gay on the reading lists that freshmen could choose from…yep, you heard it right, now the repubs who scream “freedom” constantly are now showing that the only acceptable freedom is what is acceptable to them and their narrow little minds that are still living in the 12th century….what’s next? Book burnings? This is why we need to get out to vote these reprehensible asses out of office to keep them from legislating their religion based hatred of anyone who is not a white christian…oh, one more thing…Bill Maher went off on a righteous rant about religion the other night on his show….just frickin hilarious….
March 15th
Well..it was an okay day yesterday and I won at pool for the second time in a row so that was cool…and I did get to put the top down out and back so that was even better…didn’t come back for another one, though, so today I’ll have to do better…I did get up early to watch F1 qualifying since I am still getting the normally blocked channel that has it on and that was cool but 6 am is pretty early…and now there is BPL soccer that I haven’t been able to see for a year…and the rest of the day is filled with sports with racing, basketball, soccer and more so I may be able to keep the mind occupied…not much to do today…might have a late lunch with T but that is about it….need to have the second cup of coffee and go back to the couch for awhile…more later….
March 14th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I made it a cocktail night last night so I feel a little low this morning…but, I think the bug is receding more so that kind of offsets the cocktails…and I had dreams last night that were pretty weird so that was a plus…the phone went dead in the middle of the night so my normal was a little skewed…it’s weird that I have become accustomed to having it even when I don’t use it…it looks like today could be a little busy with having some errands before pool today…I did win 2 bucks in the Mega drawing so that will be recycled into today’s drawing for 350 million…will give me something to look forward to…and maybe I can win a second week of pool…who knows?
United Kochs of America…
Well…I wasn’t sure union buster Bob Corker could sink any lower in the senate today…but, he did it! In negotiations for aid to the Ukraine…ole Bob is holding the package up until he gets something for his bosses…the Koch brothers…a special law that would exempt them from rules that govern tax benefits given for the Kochs to donate to their own supposedly non profit political action committees…yep, you heard it right…. ole Bob is trying to alter foreign policy just to get the Kochs millions more in exemptions from paying taxes that they owe. I do applaud both Dick Durbin and Harry Reid for calling this crap out on the floor and adding it to the outrages that the bought and paid for legislators of the United Kochs of America have done over the past few years…we need sunlight and pushback to make people understand how toxic these brothers are to our democracy…geez…

Well…I just don’t know what to say about this lying, race-baiting idiot other than wow…wow that he would even be so blatant the other day to say that the problem with poverty in the “inner cities” is the men there have never learned the “culture of work” that the rest of the country has…blowing as hard on the right wing, racist dog whistle as he can to motivate the rabid, right wing, racist base that keeps these idiots in power….and to compound this crap, he comes out today and says that he didn’t have any racist intent and then goes on to describe that there is rural poverty too…but, rural poverty is caused by the “lack of jobs” not by a lack of the “culture of work”….so, let me get this straight, in minority areas, poverty is caused by the people themselves but in white areas it is caused by a lack of jobs? What about the lack of jobs in the cities that can support people there? I am not stunned by the lack of understanding from this idiot…he has just let slip the overt racism that has been rampant in the repub party forever…but now, they show no need to conceal it since the only people who vote for them are their white base…they know no independent is going to buy their agenda of hating gays, minorities, and women so they have just given up…and their “leader” is the worst person in the world…geez…
March 13th
Well…sitting here waiting for the car to defrost and thought I’d get a short one done….still can’t believe that it is only 7 degrees this late in March…it was an okay day yesterday and I think I’m finally getting over the bug…at least there is light at the end of the tunnel…slept okay last night and feel pretty good this morning with it being a no cocktail night so maybe I’ll get a few things done today that I have been ignoring with being sick….I do have to do the grocery run today to get the corned beef and cabbage for St. Patrick’s day…not sure why I do it….I’m not religious but I am Irish, I guess…more later….
Another day…
Well…it seems that I’m still feeling a little hot and crappy today so the effort to do a political one is just not something I want to do right now….so, maybe just some more meandering until I lose the urge to write at all…I am tired, tired, tired of the damn snow…it’s the 12th of fricking March and it is going to be 3 below tonight…I think the cold is starting to sap my creativity since I am quite depressed with being off the bike for 5 months…and I am feeling so fat with gaining 10 pounds this winter that I am trying to not eat anything anymore…but, I know that makes me feel worse but what can you do? Not much, it appears…I have given up cocktails to cut the calories and I guess I’m going to try to keep it below 1,000 for the next few weeks and see if that helps…okay, that was pretty crappy meandering…but, what can you do?
March 12th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I want out to have a couple with G which I probably shouldn’t have with the bug still being here…but, I think I feel better today, not sure yet, but I think better…I did put the top down on the way home but I think that makes the 4 inches of snow we got last night even worse….I think I need to just hibernate until all of the snow piles are gone or I am going to go crazy….slept okay last night and had graduation dreams again last night that I shouldn’t be having…it was 15 years ago, after all, and I should be past that by now….not much to do today…I do have a couple of things to get done around here but that is about it…more later…
The repubs sudden concern with poverty…
Well…I have almost been laughing at the sudden concern that the repubs have been showing for poverty in the US….ignoring the fact that it is just election year pandering and lies, there is a demographic component to this new found concern that can’t be ignored. When the face of poverty in the US was the brown “other”, it was easy for the majority white party to ignore them since they were lazy and it was their own fault that they were poor…but now, with the increasingly white face that is repub caused poverty..,.caused by the policies of the repubs that want to destroy unions, the social safety net, and outsource jobs…they no longer want to ignore the problem since, even in poverty, these poor whites will continue to be their constituents…not like the minorities who are just takers who don’t deserve representation. This overt racism is so evident in all of the repub party today that it will be interesting to see the pretzels that will have to be made with their logic…may even see some heads explode…hope so…geez…
