Well…I’ll have to admit that I didn’t watch the SOTU speech last night…and, coming from a political junkie, that is saying something…it’s not like I didn’t want to hear it…from what I’ve read, it had some pretty good ideas in it…things like mother, apple pie, and chevrolet that no one should be able to argue with….and even a couple of pokes in ole Boehner’s eye for wasting the country’s time with 40 votes to repeal Obamacare…but, I just couldn’t get interested in it…I think it may have more to do with the mind-numbing weather we’ve had this winter…It has started to really affect my mood and every time I think about the fact that it is not going to get better any time soon, I slide a little deeper down in the trough…I wonder if it is SAD? But, as you can see, I am running behind for the month and I do need to to a few more of these today so if you think they are a waste of time, don’t read….I will try to get to a political one later…oh, there was one good story that I wanted to share….a NY congressman threatened to throw a reporter off a balcony after the reporter asked him about the investigation into the reps ethics…can you guess if he was a repub or a dem? Yep, you’ve got it…another bully repub who thinks he can do or say anything without consequence…geez…
January 29th
Well…have only been up for about a half hour and I am already bored,,,and my router is going brain dead that is starting to get irritating…have had to unplug it twice in the past two days to get it to recognize that it is supposed to be working….oh, well….at least it’s not 5 below this morning and that is something…I did have to go out and run an errand yesterday and the roads are still ridiculously slippery with the salt not working…and I am at the end of my tolerance of the cold and snow…might have to start having cocktails again just to survive it…slept okay last night but no dreams to speak of…I even skipped the SOTU speech last night which is not normal for me…I usually love that political stuff but not now, just don’t really care….not much to do today…I am going to clean some but I can feel the day is going to be an almost total loss…but I am going to try to do something….not sure what that will be yet…more later…
Dave Agema is still an idiot…
Well…if you haven’t been living in a cave over the past month or so, you have heard about the loathsome comments that the repub committeeman Dave Agema made…casting gays as murder victims and aids carriers and making the assertion that there has not been one incidence where a Muslim has done anything good for the US…these were bad enough, butt then this week, he stood in front of a repub group here in GR and doubled down on the comments, playing the normal conservative whine card that the media is trying to silence him with political correctness…yadda, yadda. Nope, Dave, you’ve got that wrong…no one is trying to silence you…especially those of us who are progressives…we just love it when you right wing idiots expose the truth of the repub party… breaking through the veneer of lies that have gotten Walker elected in Wisconsin and Snyder elected here in Michigan. One of the ironies here is that old Dave thinks that he has the right to spew his hate without consequence, but when people call him out on it, he wants those critics to be silenced so he can continue to foment hate and racism…but, Dave, it doesn’t work that way…sure, you get to be a hate filled asshole and I will defend your right to say whatever you want, but, your critics also get to call you out on your nonsense and you don’t get to play the martyr card to somehow justify your hate…keep it up, Dave, you are the best thing that has happened to we progressives here in Michigan in a long time…geez…
January 28th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I spent most of it just digging the car out of the snow…it did start this morning but it was a struggle so I will need to start it later today and let it run for a half hour or so just to get some heat in the battery since it is going to be 3 for a high today…slept okay last night and I am inching closer and closer to skipping cocktail nights all together..I feel so much better when I do…but, part of it is that I think I ate enough yesterday, too, which I have been struggling with lately…got all the way up to 1400 cals yesterday and I am going to try to do the same thing today…maybe even more but it is hard to eat so much…today looks like a total veg day with lots of cleaning in it after I work out…other than that, just need to get caught up here and I have an idea on the whiny conservatives and how they can say whatever they want but no one has the right to criticize them for it…hypocrites…more later…
The problem with religion in schools…
Well…reading a news story about how the chrisitanists in Louisiana are illegally allowing religion in their public schools, it points out just how far these supposed religious people will go to impose their brand of religion on everyone and use it as a weapon to intimidate those who have different religions. In a middle school in Louisiana, one teacher even goes so far as to teach her classes that the bible ” is 100% true”, and that “evolution is impossible” and that a buddhist student is stupid for not believing in her god. The response of the superintendent of schools there was even worse…when the parents complained of the teachers bullying of their son, this idiot suggested that the child “change his religion” since they live in the bible belt, or change schools…not a word about the illegality of this teacher’s action but just get he hell out of here if you are not a christian. This is what is wrong with these christian terrorists…they are no better than the Taliban who also want to impose their twisted interpretation of a religion at the point of a gun….but Louisiana uses the full force of the government to do it…I hope the ACLU will be successful in making these folks understand that the first amendment applies to them…geez…
Four down for the month…
Well…as you can see, I’m four down for the month and am running out of days to catch up so there is going to have to be some cheating to make the goal…so, let’s get started….the Wings are just disappointing me with the late game collapses that they have been doing all season…probably won’t make the playoffs for the first time since I was much, much younger…not getting excited about the super bowl…might watch some of it for the ads but it will be home here and not out…need to be able to flick through channels and can’t do that if I’m watching with anyone…even Man U is stinking up the place this year and maybe it is good that I haven’t been able to watch them this year…would just be angry all the time with the lack of effort…and why wouldn’t you put in effort if they are paying you millions every year? I wonder if they don’t have any pride…I’m sure I’d leave it all on the field if they were paying me all that cash….hmmmm…okay, need to go start lunch but I do have another one for early aft about religion and how it is being used as a weapon even against middle schoolers…
January 27th
Well…running late again this morning and the only reason is that I forgot to come here after doing the post over at Kos…and I got the workout in, too…it was an okay day yesterday and got a few things done but I am getting so, so tired of the damn snow…it is getting hard to even get around and tomorrow the high is going to be zero…still haven’t achieved hunker down mode so I will stop thinking of the weather…maybe this week….I do need to go out later this morning to meet up with a friend but after that, I will be hibernating the rest of the week….not much to do today…I am going to clean the kitchen since it is a mess from the last time I cooked and I just don’t like the way it looks…more later…
Another part two…
Well…it has been kind of a busy day today and I still haven’t figured out a political one to get caught up so I think I’ll just do an update or a part two again today…I did get over to close up C’s house today and the drive over was one of the most unnerving I’ve had in the Miata…the roads looked clear but with the cold, the salt wasn’t working and there was a glaze of ice and when I let off the gas, the back of the car wanted to come around from the compression in the engine…and I must have seen 30 cars in the ditch or in wrecks just over to Leonard street and back…and the trip back was out in the unplowed lane just to get some traction…and not over 50 mph all the way home….so it felt pretty good to get home and parked back here with no damage….other than that, it has been a normal Sunday and all I’ve done is laundry…and that looks like all I will do since the Wings are on and there are bobsled races on another channel….
Part two….
Well…there have been happenings in politics that have been making my job here a little easier but I didn’t get out to get the papers today with all the damn snow, so I don’t think this one is going to be about politics…I did get the car out of it’s parking spot this morning but I hate it when it snows on the weekend…the rest of the idiots here are too lazy to go out and move their cars so the guys can remove the snow so that makes only one spot that was plowed this morning that I can park my car in…and, as soon as I move it, someone will run out and move their car into it…geez…I can’t wait to find a job and buy a house…and, I will have to go out and let it run for a while later to make sure it will start in the morning…racing started today and I’m just not able to get into it…maybe I’m finally over it? Nope, no politics today unless something pops up on twitter later and I get motivated to come back…
January 25th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I lost at pool….and now I wake up to a foot of snow on the car which isn’t helping my mood at all…can’t even get out to get the papers since they haven’t plowed the lot yet…didn’t do much other than pool yesterday and it was a cocktail night that is not helping my cold at all….don’t have any ambition for today, either, so it looks like a day of cooking, races, and vegging…just poured the first cup of coffee and that doesn’t even look good to me…probably should just go back to the couch and watch some soccer until this foul mood goes away….more later…
