March 9th

Well…running late again today but, this time, I have a reason for it…made up a brine for a pork loin I’m cooking today and when I put it in the fridge, the damn bag came open spilling the brine all over the inside of my fridge…including the thyme leaves that I had in it…those tiny little things are just a huge pain to clean up and it took me almost 20 minutes to make it presentable…so now I’m back to soccer and coffee and this…slept okay last night but must have been spinning all night…found one pillow across the room and the top sheet was wadded up into a little ball at the foot of the bed….but, there were no dreams and I can’t figure that one out…it was an okay day yesterday but didn’t do much but read…not a bad day…and I did get 6 resumes out…still no response but at least there was something…not much to do today…going to just watch soccer, races, and the Wings so at least I will have something to do…along with cleaning, that is…more later…

Marco Rubio joins the list of republican idiots…

Well…the great, new hope of the repubs has begun his slow motion meltdown, after the water incident, that is by coming out the other day to say that he is in favor of letting the government shut down if Obamacare is not repealed in trade for it. Now, this is the new repub party? This guy is just not too bright if he thinks repealing a program that over 60% of Americans like is a good idea…but, it is just like the repubs….continually fighting the last battle that they lost…and acting like they won. I just want to hear them tell the millions of people that have pre-existing conditions and have insurance now through Obamacare that “you’re out of luck”; that the ideology of the right wing nuts in the repub party is more important than their health, that the profits of the insurance companies are more important that being able to not declare bankruptcy from the lifetime caps that have been removed…I can just see the ads now…”Marco Rubio takes away your healthcare just because he is a self-centered jerk…”

There seems to be something going on in this country that I never thought I’d see…that people are starting to think again, that people are saying enough to the repubs nonsense and just want the fights to stop so they can get on with their lives….or maybe I’m just reading DailyKos too much…I like hope, though…

March 8th

Well…running late on a Friday and the only reason for it is that I just don’t care…okay, that’s not entirely true but life has become this overwhelming burden that I deal with by shifting down into a lower gear and into survival mode…that said, I did sleep okay last night but I know it was the cocktails and not any peace that I have found…okay…need to elevate the mood here and stop the whining…it looks like it is going to be a nice day today with sunshine and temps in the 40’s…so that is something to enjoy…and the car is working okay so that’s a plus…yesterday was just more of the same but I am still healthy and can think a little…not much to do today…I am going to have more coffee and watch Graham Norton…but, from there, I have no plans and think I will just let the day flow as it will…more later…

The republicans are stealing again…

Well…in case you had any doubts about the sudden embracing of medicaid expansion that we’ve seen by repub governors and are trying to figure out the change of heart, don’t bother…the real reason for this sudden concern for the poor is just typical repub through and through…they have figured out that they can steal a bunch of this money for their owners in the insurance industry by asking for waivers that would allow them to turn medicaid from the government run program it is, to some kind of hybrid that would take the money, give it to the insurance companies, and then have the insurance companies cover these folks. Yep, you heard it right, the repubs, the champions of eliminating waste and fraud (yeah, right) are going to take a program that has 8% administrative costs and hand it over to insurance companies who have 20 to 30% administrative costs…for example, a program like Florida where the expansion was 3 billion dollars, would immediately hand over 600 million in costs to the insurance companies, of which at least a hundred million would go straight into the pockets of the ceo’s for their bonuses. So, instead of covering more people with the extra money and reaping the savings of scale in the medicaid program, the repubs are willing to force them into a less efficient program just to line the pockets of the insurance companies. How much worse can these guys get? We might just as well be a banana republic…the repubs are acting like we are….geez…

March 7th

Well…it was another day yesterday…not too interesting but okay…I did lose at pool again but that is okay, too…it was close but no cigar….I did sleep okay and had dreams that included big trucks, lots of snow, and parties…and T was in it, too, but I can’t remember anyone’s role….I did get the top down on the car out and back yesterday so I do have my March day in already and that takes the pressure off…I do need to do the grocery run this morning and then come back here for more resumes! That was supposed to be sarcastic…hope it came through that way….it’s just that the frustration with not hearing a thing from anyone is getting to be a bit much…I did win some tickets to see a Zep cover band next week at the Intersection and since it’s free, I’ll be going…not sure who with yet….finally something to look forward to…more later…

Can’t find any outrage..

Well…I have been sitting here for a while now trying to find a topic and work up some outrage to fuel the writing but I’m just not having any luck…that seems to be the pattern to my life lately and it is getting frustrating to keep on trying and trying and getting no results…kind of like the job search…there just seems to be this huge weight sitting on me that I can’t get out from under and even driving the car is not helping at all…so, what to do? Not sure….I’m sure cocktails are not the answer…and riding the bike used to be but the weather is just not cooperating…I used to know that if I could just hibernate, things would be okay…well…need to get ready to go shoot pool….

March 6th

Well…another bore of a day but I did get the surfaces cleaned in the kitchen so I feel okay about that…and it is nice to have a semi cleaned kitchen…slept okay last night even without cocktails so maybe I’ve turned the corner on that….but, I was still up early and think that maybe 6 hours or so is enough for me…I did read a study that people that sleep less than 7 a night have all kinds of hormonal changes that are similar to being under stress all the time and I do feel that way…but that has been my whole life so the damage is done….I should wash the car today to get the salt off and since it is already over freezing, I may be able to do it…have to find two more quarters, though, since I have no cash….not much to do today…have to keep being good since I do feel much better…and I should clean the bathroom…but, who knows….

Equal rights for all?

Well…sitting here watching a replay of the Man U match with Real Madrid getting ready for the live one this aft and this neat little tidbit was in one of the papers this morning that could pre-empt the supreme court ruling on Prop 8 from California on gay rights…or at least will be before it…here in Michigan, there is a court case challenging the constitutional amendment that keeps gays from having the same rights to marry and adopt children as the rest of us have…I am getting to the point that I consider this a human rights issue…I could just say “this doesn’t affect me” but that would be wrong..in the US we are all supposed to be equal in the eyes of the law and this amendment singles out gays and lesbians as being a “little less equal” to quote from “Animal Farm”. I feel good that all of the spurious arguments that the gay haters use to try to justify their discrimination are being exposed to the light of day for how ridiculous they are and we are finally going to have the start of real equality in all facets of life for all of our citizens. It’s about time…and, look, I think it’s going to be fun watching the haters on the right go crazy when the vote goes the way of equality…who are they going to hate next? Geez…

March 5th

Well…another just normal day but I am getting started early today so that’s something, isn’t it? Oh, the normal day was yesterday, not sure what today is going to be but I can guess that it will be more of the same…slept okay last night even with being good but I was still up at 5:30 and I should have somewhere to go…but no luck yet on the resumes…okay, not going to think about that right now…Looks like a huge storm is going to miss us to the west and I am really ready for winter to be over….but, we will get some snow here so I guess I just have to suck it up and take it…not much to do today….just the normal stuff…but I do need to clean the kitchen and make it presentable to me….more later…

Here’s an idea…

Well…with the ugly comments that were made by ole Scalia in the supreme court last week, and the general consensus that the Voting Rights act is going to be struck down by the conservative assholes on the court…an idea just popped into my head…as I sit here and think about it, it is seeming less and less like a good idea…oh, the idea is to extend the VRA to cover the entire country, not just the states that have been caught cheating to keep people from voting. I wonder where the court gets their news? In my news, the shenanigans of vote suppression and rigging is still in full force across the country so why not make it a federal crime to do this crap? Maybe if that was done, the repubs would stop spending all of their time trying to rig the vote and maybe, just maybe, they would start thinking about getting some jobs legislation going…nope, they’d just move on to more abortion legislation…what a bunch of crap…geez…

What you never want to be….
