Well…it was a long day yesterday with waiting for the snowmageddon to happen…that didn’t….we did get 6-7 inches of snow but for Michigan that is not a big number…already have the car cleared off and I’m waiting for it to heat up so I don’t have to scrape the windshield….the bug has bitten back today and I am coughing with my head plugged up so I think I’ll just take it easy today and just watch a couple of movies…it didn’t help that it was a cocktail night last night but the Wings won so that makes it a little better…need to shower and go out for the papers…more later…
It time for us to become the party of no…
Well…I listen and listen to the folks that we re-elected and I only have one bit of advice for them..we need to become the party of no for a change…every time the repubs suggest that we cut benefits for the poor and seniors to subsidize the rich…we need to say no. Every time the repubs protect tax breaks for corporations and want to pay for them by raising taxes on the middle class we need to say no. Every time the repubs say that increased revenue from the rich can’t be on the table we have to say no. After all, the top tax rates were lowered under ole GW to cause the deficit mess we are in…why can’t they be raised to help pay the bills? Let’s not accept the crap the repubs are peddling that it is the dems fault because of “runaway spending”…as usual, they are wrong about that, too…spending as a percentage of gdp is far under the same measure for any repub administration since Eisenhower….one last thing I have to say for the dems that were elected to push the protection of the safety net and raise taxes on the rich…”just frickin do it”…the political climate has changed and you are the right side of the issues…grow a frickin backbone and do your damn job…geez…
February 7th
Well…getting an early start today since I was good last night and have a little energy this morning…I did win at pool yesterday so that was okay but it is still crappy to be broke…but, I am going to the grocery store this morning to lay in supplies for the snowmageddon that is supposed to happen later today…if it does, I’ll just hunker down here and wait it out with the slow cooker pork tenderloin and fresh baked bread that I just took out of the freezer….I may be getting over the bug that I’ve had for the past week but I’m not sure of that yet….if the snow does happen, I’ll just clean around here all day and then look forward to having a cocktail night and some tv later…more later…

Well…have been thinking all day trying to get some ideas and they just aren’t coming…I did laugh about ole Eric Cantor’s great policy speech yesterday…and the fact that it is just more of the same shows that the repubs have run out of ideas…at least ones that anyone wants to hear anymore…and then you have ole Karl Rove out there raising money again…not sure what for other than to line his own pockets since this great political brain has only won one election for the people he has supported…and that was ole GW’s second term that was won with the smallest margin in history…I do find it heartening that someone in congress is starting to question this whole killing everyone that the president thinks should be killed with drones…this needs to be stopped or at least have some congressional oversight….hmmmm..what else? I am sitting here waiting for the snowmageddon that all of the news outlets are screaming about…possibility of 8-12 inches of snow over the next day so I do need to go out for supplies in the morning…okay…met the quota for the day so I’m not going to bore you any more…
February 6th
Well…not running as late as normal and part of it is that I was good last night…so how I feel today is all bug, all the time and I am exhausted..but, I do feel better than yesterday so maybe I’ll be better tomorrow…said that yesterday, though, didn’t I? I did sleep okay…I think…but I am still struggling with the conundrum of eating…if I eat enough to not feel tired, I gain weight like crazy without being able to ride the bike…and I refuse to go back to running and the pain that comes with it….so, I guess I sit out the next three weeks and just live with it…life is no fun on a thousand calories a day….not much to do today…leftovers in the fridge so no cooking today so I guess I’ll clean and get out more resumes….ick…
They’ve got some ‘splainin to do…
Well…the “lipstick on a pig” project continues over on the right with a chorus of the big thinkers over there just positive that their only problem is that they didn’t ‘splain themselves good enough during the last election…nope it’s not their ongoing war on women’s rights…their clear hatred of anyone that is not white like them…or that they are just not too bright…nope, it’s just that they think the American people are so stupid that they just need to shout their crazy assed ideas louder and then they will get it and vote for them. Never mind the hatred they are showing for our democracy by trying to rig elections in every way so that they will stay in power even if they don’t get more votes…and never mind that the House repubs are not even going to let a vote come up on the Violence Against Women Act because it may protect some women that they don’t like…oh, hell, they don’t like any women unless they are barefoot and pregnant….how do you make this terrible message that more than half of America will stay unprotected, second class citizens just because their archaic, nonsensical religious beliefs tell them so, palatable to the progressives of us out here that see the utter, shameless power grab for what it is. Why do the repubs always need to control everyone they don’t like? I, for one, have had enough of this nonsense…but, I will say keep it up…we’ll take the house back in two years and they will be done permanently…geez…
February 5th
Well….it was just another day of trying to get over this bug but I do feel a little better today so maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel….and maybe it won’t be a train coming at me….had to start the car and leave it running for a while since it is an ice block and it is only 4 degrees outside…my lungs are killing me and the coughing is starting to get old…okay, that’s out of order…but I’m not going to edit….not much to do today….might have a couple with G later and clean the kitchen before that but if the energy levels don’t come up soon there won’t be much of anything…so, I need to make coffee and shower before I go out for the papers…
The “drill baby drill” crowd is wrong…again…
Well…it has been a day of thinking, recovering, and reading and that led me to an article on ThinkProgress today that should shut the whole “oil prices are high because Obama won’t let them drill” crowd up once an for all. The article compares the amount of drilling and production in the US to the consumer price of gasoline and found what I have been saying for a long time…that none of this extra production, or the building of the Keystone pipeline is going to have any effect on the prices we pay since they are disconnected from the market forces that the repubs just love. The study shows that we used less oil last year than we did in 2001…that’s lower demand for the economically challenged out there….and oil production went up almost 14%…that’s higher supply for exactly the same reasons. Okay…so the great, unregulated marketplace that the repubs think is the cure all for everything including dandruff….takes lower demand, couples it with higher supply, and what this market gives us is higher prices…doesn’t anyone else think this is nuts? Let’s throw one more little piece into this puzzle…the oil companies profits are the highest they have ever been…something that should not happen if there was a truly open marketplace…so, what does that say to you? That the oil companies and the traders that they own are rigging the market to maximize profit…essentially taxing every American to the tune of $2,900 dollars each….the only thing that degrading our environment so the oil can be extracted is doing is adding to the already obscene profits that the oil companies make…so let’s continue to give them tax breaks and subsidize this thievery…just like the repubs continue to do…geez…
February 4th
Well…running really late today and I’ll blame it on the superbowl…it’s as good as anything, I guess, and that means I feel like crap today…but most of it is the damn bug I’ve been fighting for the past week….my lungs are starting to get quite bad but I guess I’ll live through it…slept okay last night…the weird power outage at the game was compounded by the same thing happening at the Man U match Sat….I wonder if it’s aliens or something like that…that was a joke…my tin foil hat is at the cleaners…not much to do today…I do have to do the bathroom and then clean up the kitchen some and cook, too….I will be back for another one later if I can come up with a topic…

Well…as you know, I am amazed that Jennifer Rubin still has a job at the Washington Post and she showed again today why she shouldn’t. With every column being nothing but regurgitation of repub talking points, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised when she spouts the latest one…that Obama’s recovery in the economy is not what he promised. Okay…let me get this straight…the right does everything they can to make sure that a fact based response to the downturn will be unsuccessful by their relentless carping on the deficit and making sure that the stimulus was too small, and now you have ole Jennifer bitching that the recovery isn’t better? The only thing I have to say to that is: get the hell out of the way and let serious, non-fanatic, people do their jobs instead of cheering for America to fail. Just like Rush and the rest of the idiots on the right…just shut the hell up and let the adults run the government…geez…
