Well…I didn’t skip the bike ride today and probably should have…crashed the damn thing on a wet bridge going into the nature preserve….okay, I was only going about 1 mph but I did go down and have a huge bruise on my right thigh…thought I sprained my wrist but it has stopped hurting so I guess that’s okay….the bruise looks pretty cool but it does hurt to walk a little…I laughed so damn hard when it happened since I never go that slow and as fast as I normally ride, it should have happened long before this on one of the fast stretches….oh, well…I’ll be back on it tomorrow….and won’t ever ride that slow again….a crash caused by the lack of speed…bet that never happened before…
August 14th
Well…a long day yesterday and I do feel kind of crappy today…had pool with Tom and then just kept on going through the rest of the night…probably shouldn’t have done that but I’ve got the whole day to recover and I’ll just take it easy and have my coffee…might even skip the bike ride today since it is a little chilly outside…nope, can’t do that…I’ve been on the thing every day since the start of May and it really is the only thing that is keeping me sane these days…but I will wait until later….I do need the second cup of coffee and some couch time before I get going….okay, I need to read the online papers and rest a while…more later….
August 13th
Well…running really late today but I have an excuse…I did go over to 28th to get those ribs….you just can’t pass up ribs for 99 cents a pound so I bought about 10 lbs…I’ll have to try them in the next couple of days to see if they are any good but how can ribs be bad? I did have a relaxing night here last night and just vegged but I hope today will be different..I might just go out for a while for something different…haven’t been to Billy’s in a while and that might be nice..or, I may just veg here again since I’m going out to shoot pool tomorrow….choices, choices…..more later…

Well….I’ve been trying to find a topic…no, that’s not true…I got a lot of stuff done around here today and none of it had anything to do with a topic for this thing…..at least the stock market is in positive territory for a second day in a row and the bleeding has slowed some….that could be a topic but I’m not motivated to do that right now, I’m still quite tired and I may just go out and lie in the sun and listen to music for a while….yep, a slacker day for me and it looks like the rest of the weekend is going to match it…I do have pool with Tom Sunday but that is about it….I do have to go over to 28th street and get some ribs that are on sale for 99 cents a pound…I may take the weekend off if it rains…so, go rain….more later….
August 12th
Well…. a night of dreams last night and they were weird ones with monkeys, floods, and broken electronics in them….yeah, I can’t believe it either but that’s what they were….it may be a good thing that they are fading fast and I don’t remember the details….didn’t do much yesterday but clean up around here and watch a movie but I am still exhausted…hope I’m not getting the bug that T had or it may be that I have not taken a day off riding since the first part of May and I might just do that today but I think I’ll look at the weather and see if I can stack it on top of a rainy day…not much to do today…I do have some tasks to finish up around here but that is about it…..I will be back for at least one later….
Well….not really that depressed…
Well….I just can’t believe the hypocrites in the repub party and the latest talking point that was released yesterday that is taking Obama to task for taking a vacation while the economy is in danger of a double dip recession. Man, these guys have the best selective memory I have ever seen….I just want to remind you here that their darling pres, ole GW, took more vacations than any president in history and Obama is nowhere close to the time off that GW had at this time in his presidency…so repubs, get over it and get your own house in order. I do have one other question….when did Grover Norquist become the constitution? All of the repubs that have been appointed to the “super congress” that is supposed to find solutions to our economic problems have signed the no new taxes pledge that ole Norquist has forced upon them….does their oath of office include to preserve and protect Grover Norquist?
Okay that depressing post from yesterday….it’s hard at times to keep your sanity when the world appears as if it is imploding in front of your eyes but as the Who said….”we get hungover but we always survive it”….and that is what is going to happen here….we’ll all survive it…I hope….
August 11th
Well….it was definitely not just another night last night…went out to see Willie Nelson play downtown and had a ton of fun…it was almost like it used to be with a bunch of the old group together again laughing our butts off all night and I was good and came home when I should have so I feel okay today…ran into Sarah from the now closed Kava house and it was so good to see her and talk for a while….so, finally a good night to report here. Not much to do today, though…I did have to have the shifter on the bike fixed again yesterday…broke another cable and had to ride the thing back 10 miles with only two speeds…not fun….I am going to get groceries this morning and then take it easy the rest of the day….I am a little worn out from all of the fun yesterday….
Too depressed to write…
Well…after the Koch brothers bought another election in Wisconsin yesterday, I’m too depressed to write much…our democracy is doomed to be the wholly owned subsidiary of the rich here and that is too depressing to take lightly….I may come back to add to this one but the double whammy of the Dow being down another 400 points today is just getting to be too much….
August 10th
Well…another night but I was really good so I feel okay today….I did make headway here on the cleaning and I feel good about that, too….all of the cobwebs are gone from my room and I got all the clothes folded and taken care of and I hope there are no more spiders since I found about 20 of them….I am going to continue working on the place and getting rid of stuff to get ready for a move if I can find a job somewhere else…there are things to do today…C is coming into town and J got some free tickets to see Willie Nelson tonight downtown so I think I’ll be going out to do something finally….and I made a little cash so I can buy groceries tomorrow….at least I can make it through the rest of the week….more later…
Maybe it’s a sign….
Well….just had to pass this one along since I haven’t done a trail update in a while…today, while out at the end of the end of the ride, I ran across thousands of grasshoppers that coated the trail from edge to edge and that flew up into a huge brown cloud when I went through….and that cloud brought a thought to my head….what if this is a sign of the coming apocalypse? You know, plagues of locusts…from the bible….oh, well….it sounded better in my head than it did after I wrote it….
