More Wisconsin shenanigans…

Well…getting ready to go out and shoot pool so I thought I’d better get the second one for today out now since I won’t be motivated to do it later…and, this one will be short so take a minute to take a look…just wanted to comment on the new set of shenanigans that are going on with our old buddy Scott Walker in front of the recall election that is taking place in the early part of June…since the official federal government figures (that everyone uses and trusts as a yardstick to the true growth in jobs) came in not to his liking…and shows that ole Scott’s policies are not working to create jobs, in fact, Wisconsin rates almost last in job creation of all of the states in the past year. So, what does he do? Not what any sane person would do like change what he is doing…nope, ole Scott does what they used to do in the old Soviet Union and make up new facts that better fit his narrative as a “job creator”….and then, he trots out his trolls to try to sell the fact that job growth is okay and then blames the lack of jobs on the “uncertainty” caused by the recall and the unions. Isn’t anyone else getting tired of the repubs not taking responsibility when their failed, crazy policies don’t work? It was like Grover Norquist on Bill Maher’s show last night…where he disparaged stimulus policies as being “Keynesian” and basically said that the repubs had a new type of economics that work much better. What a load of crap….geez…

One more thing about jobs…

Well….I was going to append this one to the last one but the more I thought about it, the more I felt that it deserved its own even though this one will be short…..does anyone else smell a rat with the precipitous drop in new private sector jobs last month? I think there was just too much good news coming out of the labor market, which would undoubtedly help Obama in the general election…so what do the friends of the repubs do that run most of the business in the US? They take one for the team and stop hiring to support the repub line that the economy still stinks and Obama should not be reelected. I normally don’t really support conspiracy theories, but the repubs are well known for rewarding businesses that give them money and support the party line (think Halliburton) and I would not put it past them that they are using all of the coercion and reward that they can to win the election…and those in business that will benefit the most from a repub president are all too happy to comply by hurting the economy and the middle class for their personal gain…geez…

Let’s burst one republican talking point….

Well…this is going to be a short one while I wait for the laundry to finish so I can get out on the bike before lunch….there was an interesting little article about a poll taken over the past week that asked small business owners what their largest impediment to growth and adding jobs was…and, guess what? It wasn’t the old repub screed about too much regulation…in fact a majority of those polled felt that good regulation helps level the playing field for them…something I have been saying since I started this thing almost two years ago…but, the surprise of the poll was that, by a large majority, these small business owners said that lack of demand was the biggest barrier to them growing their companies…and where do we get demand? By increases in the disposable income of consumers that is driven by sharing the stellar growth in productivity that big business has hoarded for the top 1%….and more stimulus from the government….so, the next time you hear a repub cry about too much regulation in the economy…just shout “nonsense” at them and let’s call out these “truths” that are anything but…geez…

I predicted this one….

Well…a few days ago, I expressed my hope that one of the outcomes of the Iowa repub nonsense would be that both Perry and Bachmann would just go home and we would never have to hear from them again…and I predicted that poor showings would have that result. I am happy to report here that ole Rick is heading back to Texas to “think” about his campaign…I don’t know what he is going to think about…can he even think? Or, will his donors and cronies do the thinking for him while he styles his hair? Then, ole Micheel has a news conference scheduled for this afternoon for a “major announcement” on the direction of her campaign…but the only direction I see for her is to head due north back where she came from….maybe we can hope that she will retire and go back to “un-gaying” gays in Minnesota. What a couple of know-nothing losers that even the delusional repubs have rejected as being unqualified…now, if we could just do the same for ole Newt and Santorum, the IQ of the entire party would rise about 50 points.

One last thing, I’m going to keep hammering on Mitt for the lies on job creation that he keeps spouting on the trail…the latest is that he “created” over 100K jobs while at Bain Capital…but he never nets that with the hundreds of thousands of jobs that he killed while stealing the assets of the companies that Bain purchased..so folks…you can tell when ole Mitt is lying about his jobs record…it’s when he opens his mouth…geez…

The republicans are even ignoring business…

Well…this is going to be a shorty since I’m over my quota for the month and really don’t have a lot to say today…but, I did want to get to one thing…all of the repub candidates jobs plan consist of more and more of the same…tax cuts for business and the rich hoping that the largess heaped upon them will “trickle down” and create jobs; never mind that tax cuts have never created one job when there is no demand for the goods or services that job will create. Even business leaders are saying that it is not the tax burden that is holding back the economy but it is the lack of demand that comes from the falling real wages of everyone but the rich….on this point, there is plenty of blame to go around and the question I have for these same business leaders is “why would you expect rising demand when you keep cutting the real wages and benefits of your workers by outsourcing and not sharing the rise in productivity with your workers?” The real problem here is who goes first? People won’t start to spend again until they are comfortable that their rising wages will make it feasible to buy things again and business won’t raise wages or hire until demand is rising. So, as always, we’re stuck in a “Catch 22″ without any visionary person or company that will make the leap of faith necessary to break the gridlock…and on it goes….

More trickle down nonsense…

Well…was just sitting here looking at the F-1 website and a thought came to me…they do that sometimes, as you can see from me being 5 ahead for the month. What spurred the thought was the return of the discredited notion of “trickle down” economics that posits that if you give more and more tax cuts to the rich and corporations, that money will trickle down to the middle class through an increased number of jobs. The question I have to ask is “how is this different from increased tax revenue going to the government to create jobs?” At least when the money goes to the government and it is spent for infrastructure repair and development, the people have some say through their elected officials on where and how the money is spent and which jobs are created. Infrastructure jobs can’t be sent overseas like what has happened with the tax cuts to corporations and the huge wave of outsourcing that followed the tax cuts. I’d rather trust the government to do this kind of thing…corporations have shown that they will use tax cuts not to create jobs, but to enrich the 1% who have already stolen most of the country from the rest of us..geez…

Where are the jobs?

Well…this is going to be a short one about one of the topics that is near and dear to my heart…the lack of jobs or anyone doing anything to grow them….I will admit that Obama and his administration have been trying to do something, but where is the repub controlled congress? They have controlled the house for almost a year and have not put forth one new proposal that will get the economy going again and create jobs…they have just trotted out the same old tax cuts, tax cuts, tax cuts, that have never created one job…not in all of the cuts by the Bushies, or any of the cuts that have been done by Obama. So, that is the question we should be asking whenever a politician opens his or her mouth…what are you doing to create jobs? And remember that in the 2012 election…the repubs started leaning on Obama and blaming him for the lack of jobs about two weeks into his administration…now we should do the same to them…they’ve had a year in power filled with nothing but nonsense…geez…

Mitch McConnell is an even bigger idiot than I thought…

Well….ole Mitch was in fine form this morning addressing the Senate in anticipation of Obama’s speech on jobs tonight, raising the bar on pure partisanship to an entirely new level…he didn’t even wait to hear the speech to start to criticize everything about what may be said…trying to preempt the president when he is trying to get us out of the repub caused jobs mess. His main point was that he didn’t even want to hear anything more about additional stimulus and he even rolled out the old bromide that doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the definition of idiocy….doesn’t McConnell get irony? What have he and his repub know nothings repeatedly done since 2000? Cut, Cut, and cut taxes when they did nothing to stimulate the economy or add jobs….remember this, the tax cuts did not add one job…not one job. And ole Mitch had the audacity to stand there and basically call Obama an idiot. Look in the mirror, Mitch, and you will see the biggest idiot in government today….geez….

One last thing…by the accounts of the majority of economists, the stimulus package saved almost 3 million jobs that would have been lost without it…is that the repubs definition of failure? Gimme that kind of failure anytime….

Back to the idiot Rick Perry…

Well….have a couple of things that I want to talk about and, as I said, Rick Perry is going to be fun…first, I still marvel at the way the repubs keep chanting “get government out of the way”, but in Texas, over 500 million dollars of “government money” has been handed out to Perry’s cronies that are his biggest campaign contributors; a “pay for play system” that says that if you are not ready to give millions to Perry’s political campaign, stay out of Texas because you won’t get any government contracts. Politicians used to go to jail for that kind of stuff and now it is held up as a miracle? Now, we have the idiot stand up and calling Obama the greatest job killer in the history of the country….never bothering to do the math that more jobs were lost in the last year of ole GW’s term than there has been in Obama’s term…so how are you going to blame that on Obama? That companies were cutting jobs in anticipation of Obama getting elected? Just more nonsense from another Texan who was born on third base and thinks he hit a triple….geez….

Rick Perry is going to be fun…

Well…two days on the campaign trail and we have the first of what I expect to be many gaffes coming from our latest Texas tragedy, Rick Perry. This idiot came out a a couple of days ago with one of the most telling statements of the strategy of the repubs to keep the economy in the tank until the 2012 elections when he said that if the Fed did anything to help the economy in an election year it would be akin to treason and that Bernanke would not be treated well if he came to Texas. So, Rick, because there is an election over a year away, we should do nothing to help people get back to work and ease their financial distress because it may help Obama get elected? We can see that the repubs are no longer even lying about caring about anyone but the rich and powerful that buy them elections and that Rick Perry is just another underachiever who thinks that the minimum wage jobs that he has created in Texas is a template for the rest of the country in the repubs race to turn the US into another Mexico or China…geez….

Oh, one last thing…where are the jobs gov Snyder?
