Well…as you can see, I didn’t come back for another one yesterday but that happens sometimes on a pool day…which I lost but had lots of fun so that was cool…hmmmm…just noticed I’m not as sore as normal this morning and I wonder what that is about…have gotten used to being sore everywhere almost all the time so this is welcome…hope it continues all day….even my elbows don’t hurt and the tendons in there have been been bad lately….didn’t get a lot done yesterday but wash the car but I am going to clean today…the kitchen needs a scrub down so that will be the project for the day…and I do have to pay a couple of bills but I can do that online so that will be easy….even though it’s going to be cold, it looks like I’ll be able to get out on the bike all week with the trails clean and no snow in the forecast…I think that has been helping me get back to sorts after being off it for a few days last week…I do need to clean the bike this aft, too since it is filthy and the shifter is full of crap and is sticking on the upshifts and that is annoying….maybe I’ll do that before I go out this morning…who knows? More later….
December 3rd
Well…running a little late for the new normal this morning…didn’t get up until almost 6 and even had some dreams last night and that rarely happens anymore…but, I feel pretty lousy this morning and I assume it’s from not eating enough…again…have been back on the bike the past couple of days and didn’t allow for the extra calories that takes…one of these days, I’m just going to go back to bed after I do this….I did get a few things done yesterday but I won’t do much today but wash the car…I need quarters for pool and to get the salt off it so that will need to be after I get the ride in and work out…I think I may need to tighten the belt that runs the alternator since it was squealing a little yesterday when I went out for the paper…but, with all of the rain and moisture out there, that is pretty normal when I don’t run the car much…I do need to work on the bike before I go out, too…with all of the crud in the shifter from riding in the wet, it was hanging up on the ride yesterday and that is pretty annoying….more later…
Finally got something done…
Well…you know that I have been talking about not getting anything done for quite a few days now and I’m not sure why it is…is it the depression coming back? Not sure but I know I’ve had this feeling of dread hanging over me for a couple of weeks now…but it shouldn’t be there…there really is nothing to dread in my life right now…I mean I have enough money coming in to live on…and my health is okay…could be better but I’m working on that…and I just changed my Medicare coverage to make sure that an illness won’t make be go broke…so, I wonder what it is? Yeah, I know…there doesn’t have to be a reason for depression…it just is at times and I’ve been through it enough that I should realize that….hmmmm…well…not going to dwell on that any more today…after all, I did get something done today….the bathroom is now clean and smells like flowers….not sure if I like the smell of the Pine Sol floral but I can get used to it…and, I got a bike ride in while the fog was still here this morning…damn near went down on one of the bridges on the trail…and that was walking the bike since it was way too slick to even attempt to ride across it…but, the rest of the trail was almost clear so that was cool….okay…need to make dinner here in a few so I’ll end here….no more later….
This is how far they’ll go…
Well…we all know that the repubs can only win elections by cheating since their ideas are so unpopular with over 60% of the electorate…and cheat they do, gerrymandering, voter purges, and voter ID are just a few of the methods they regularly use to stay in power…but, in North Carolina they have come up with a new one in a little watched race….it appears that the repub candidate who is ahead by a little over 900 votes, has had people affiliated with his campaign, or maybe it’s the party go door to door collecting absentee ballots and changing the votes in them to repubs or, if they have dem votes and can’t be changed, just throwing them in the trash. This cheating is so bad that the repub controlled election board voted unanimously to not certify the election results…and the kicker is that the majority of the stolen ballots were from elderly black voters who certainly wouldn’t have voted for the repub….so they get a two fer…steal an election and be a racist piece of shit….anyone involved in this scheme, including the candidate who it appears did this same thing to win the primary needs to go to jail..after all, voter fraud is so damn important to the repubs…geez…
December 2nd
Well…running about on time for a Sunday morning and almost forgot to do this again…but, I didn’t so here I am….slept okay last night but up at 4:54 again…this time I did try to sleep more and it worked…sort of…and I didn’t get out of bed until 6 or so…but that really didn’t help my feeling off today…and that has been going on for the past few days and I think it’s a cold…have been coughing and just feeling slow…I was an idiot and skipped a couple of meals thurs and fri and I think that is part of what I’m feeling now…hmmm…didn’t get a damn thing done yesterday but a bike ride and I am not going to promise anything more today…I am going to get on the bike as soon as the sun comes up since it is warm enough to go out right now and there looks like enough time to get a 12 miler in before it rains again…walked around here pretty sore yesterday after the ride and that hasn’t really subsided yet…think I’ll take something before I go out but right now I need coffee and to watch a little soccer…more later…
6,700 posts…
Well…there are times that I do look at the stats for my site here and today I hit a milestone of sorts…this morning’s post was number 6,700…yep, six thousand 700 of these things done over the past 9 years or so…yow…that’s a lot to me…I did get out on the bike today to take a look at the trails…actually just rode up to the office here to drop off the rent check but, at the last minute, I decided to go full thermasuit just in case I could get out on the trails and that now appears to be the right decision…the trails were okay but still had lots of ice on them but they were passable…with the ice though, it took way too much attention and made the ride a lot of work…it was nice to get out and the slower speed made it very relaxing and I even took time to look around some when I had to walk the bike over a couple of bridges that were snow covered and really slick….tomorrow should be better with the rain melting a lot of the remaining ice today…but it is not as warm as they predicted so it could ice up again later…hope not….
December 1st
Well…it appears I’m about on time this morning with getting up just a little before 6…forgot to try the lying in bed thing to sleep more but I will try that tomorrow…I did sleep okay last night but feel worn out today and I am waiting for the coffee to work…I did check my BP when I got up and it’s below 120 so that’s a good thing…and it was good all day yesterday, too so I guess the machine is now a toy to play with…not worried much about it…I did get out on the bike and did laps around the lot here…10 miles is such a bore when the scenery doesn’t change…but it was nice to sweat a little…going to try to get out today but the rain is coming in pretty quickly and I don’t think I want to get wet…didn’t get anything done yesterday but I am going to try to get some cleaning done today….but, who knows? The start of the month is always a little depressing and today is no different…so I am going to ease into it…need to eat more today, too since I only had one meal yesterday trying to adjust for not riding….more later…
Medicare changes…
Well…okay…you guys all know I’m pretty old since I talk about retirement and old guy stuff once in a while..but, I really do try to keep that to a minimum to not bore my younger readers…but, today I am going to talk a little about Medicare and the changes I made this morning. The biggest problem with conventional Medicare is that, if you have an extended hospital stay, you are on the hook for 20% of it no matter what the cost…and it is pretty easy to get into six figures for even just a short stay….and that means a bill for me of over 20K and I just couldn’t pay that. So, this morning, I switched over to a Medicare advantage plan that any hospital stay of any length will only cost me 4K at the most and they start paying all of the bill after 7 days in the hospital…so, that reduces my exposure to going broke quite a bit and it only costs an extra 9 bucks a month…and that include basic prescription coverage, too…that I just found out increases in cost for every month you don’t have coverage. I still may add some dental coverage in the next month but I want to think about that for a while…and I have two months to make that decision…so, that takes a load off some and I even get to keep my doctors…pretty cool…and I am going to celebrate that by doing nothing the rest of the day…and month for that matter…no more later…
Another two for the B-3 count…
Well…after talking to T the other day and her question if I remembered the song “dragging the line” by Tommy James, I got sucked into youtube again looking at videos of music that I have in my playlists that I use on the bike every day…one of those is “Dark eyed Cajun woman” by the Doobie Brothers and I had never seen that they used a Hammond B-3 organ before so I am going to add them to the B-3 count. I also saw a commercial on tv with Elton John in it that covered his career from the start until now and, though I thought he just played piano, there is one shot of him playing a B-3 so I’ll add that to the B-3 count, too….
Restoring the rule of law…
Well…with all of the fireworks that have been going off in the Mueller investigation and the emphasis on who is a crook and what crimes they committed, one really important facet of the investigation has been overlooked…that what Mueller is really doing is trying to restore the rule of law in this country that has been all but destroyed by the repubs over the past few years. As I’ve written before, the repubs have been acting like the laws of this country don’t apply to them and the constitution is just for suckers unless they can use it to attack people they don’t like…but now, with the Cohen guilty plea yesterday of lying to Congress, Mueller has signaled that all of the laws of this country are to be followed or there will be consequences…and guess who that puts right in the crosshairs of Mueller and the dem congress in January? Yep, Donnie Jr. and Jeff Sessions to name just a couple…but also almost every other trump associate who testified to support the trump lies about Russia and the campaign. So, there are going to be a lot of things to look forward to in the next month or so…meltdowns of idiot boy are going to be delicious…impeach…
