Working on some stuff…

Well…I know I haven’t been too topical lately and I am going to blame it on the flu and the fact that there is not a whole lot happening in politics right now…I think I’ve written this one before….there is one disgusting thing that happened this week in that ole Rudy Guiliani opened his mouth and exposed it for the sewer that it is…questioning if Obama loves the US or not…and the sky rained down with the dog whistles of racism that have marked the past 6 years from everyone on the right…not one of them disagreed with ole Rudy or even said anything that this kind of crap is out of bounds…going along with the blatant undermining of US foreign policy that is being done by Boehner…I would ask the question “why do the repubs hate the US so much?”…doing everything in their power to hurt the institution of the presidency across the world….and not caring about the damage they’re doing….that, to me, is not the love of country that the right is always going on an on about….and I think we on the left need to shout this every time you see one of these idiots talking about it…geez…

This country has gone crazy…

Well…just got the bathroom done and was reading and came across a gem that I just had to comment on…in Georgia, there is a state rep who has a list of the most important problems facing the US…guess what his top concern is? Human jellyfish hybrids…yep, this idiot, Tom Kirby thinks that the possibility of human hybrids is more important than jobs, or crumbling infrastructure, or income inequality…and he is writing a bill right now to “get out ahead” of this major threat to the US…yep, that last part is sarcasm…where the hell do they find these morons? And, who votes them into office? Man…I am shaking my head….

Arkansas goes off the rails…

Well…if you hadn’t seen the stupidity of the repubs on education lately, you just need to take a look at Arkansas and their fight to change the AP (advance placement) history courses there. Most AP courses across the country are built by experts in history that know what colleges and universities across the country want their applicants to know and are filled with something the the repubs just can’t understand…truth…and the fact the the US has not been and never will be perfect but the only way to get better and understand where we come from is to study this truth. That doesn’t matter to the repubs, though…they propose to destroy the truth of history and replace it with the study of the ten commandments, three Reagan speeches…and other nonsense that will automatically preclude every Arkansas student from meeting the requirement to even get in to college….but, they don’t give a damn…ignorant voters are the only thing keeping them in office and they just want more of them…I pity the poor kids of Arkansas…geez…

Republicans are still stupid…

Well…just a couple of thoughts that I wanted to get down here this aft and not get further behind….you know, repubs are still really stupid….first, you have this fight over immigration with them trying to tie reversing Obama’s immigration policies by tying them to funding for the DHS and acting like a bunch of pouting little brats when the dems don’t roll over and allow it….those immigration policies are nothing different than Saint Ronnie of Reagan did when he was in office and the repubs thought they were great back then…wonder what the difference is? Yeah, we all know the just hate the black guy in the White House…..what was the second stupid thing? Oh, I guess it’s just that they keep doing the same thing and expecting different results…did they really think that even if they passed this crap that Obama was just going to say…”oh, okay, if you say so, I’ll sign it”? Oh, the second thing is ole Boehner’s invite of Bibi…and now 63% of the country said it was a stupid thing to do…so, John, don’t take my word for it, listen to the damn country for a change…geez..

The supreme court isn’t one….

Well…I have had this little tidbit rattling around in my head for a little while yet and thought I’d take a stab at it before it rattles out one of my ears…with all of the bad,  bad decisions that this court has made, it is no longer a court…but it is the judicial arm of the repub party whose only goal is to further the aims of the right in this country. Starting with Bush v. Gore, where the case should have been sent back to the House where all election disputes are supposed to be resolved according to the constitution….this court took the case with the ruling that said this was a one time thing and could never be a precedent to be cited in any other case (something that had never happened in the history of the country) this court has been radically doing the right’s bidding. Then we have Citizen’s United that made corporations people in complete disregard with a hundred years of precedent and guaranteed the seven figure speaking fees for the justices when they retired…while ruining our political process and allowing the billionaires on the right to buy elections ( as they just did in 2014). Then there is Hobby Lobby, a decision that allowed employers the right to impose their religious beliefs on their employees and which gave the right one of the items that was high on their wish list….to impose Christianity on everyone in this country. In just these three instances, we can see that this supreme court is no longer the impartial arbiter of law they are supposed to be, but the judicial arm of the right using it’s power to advance the right’s aims to the detriment of the country…they need to go…geez…

The real death panel….

Well…during the repub fight against the ACA, one of their go to phrases was the law included “death panels” which would condemn people to death by restricting what type of care people would get under the law…ignoring the fact that that most elderly folks are covered under Medicare and it would have nothing to do with them….but, with a new study that came out today, the real death panel is going to be the supreme court if they rule against subsidies for people who buy their insurance through the federal exchanges…and condemn an extra 10,000 people to death per year since they won’t be able to afford unsubsidized insurance. This total can then be added to the estimated 17,000 people a year that die since the Medicaid expansion was made optional by the court and the governors of repub states decided not to expand the program. So, the only thing you need to remember is there truly is a death panel here in the US, and it is called the supreme court…geez…

More on vaccines….

Well…I guess the repubs haven’t gotten to their monthly quota of stupid yet so they all have to weigh in on the vaccines “controversy” that they have manufactured all by themselves…and I want to start with just a month or so ago to show how crazy these folks are…of course you remember the Ebola scare where there was one case in the US and everyone on the right was just freaking about about it…and one of the memes that they were pushing was that it was Obama’s fault that there was no vaccine for Ebola that everyone could get to be safe…fast forward to today and you have all of the repub idiots out there saying it should be a parents choice whether or not they vaccinate their kids…never mind the fact that millions and millions of lives have been saved by vaccines since they were invented…under the guise of freedom, these idiots are willing to have their children die from readily preventable diseases since, according to their great minds like Rand Paul, vaccines can cause “severe mental problems” even though there has never been case of this that they can refer anyone to…they just “know” it’s a fact.  Then, today, we have another great light from the right…some senator from Tennessee or some other backwater of science deniers, go on and on that the current measles outbreak is caused by “illegal immigrants” coming over the border since none of them are vaccinated…but he missed the fact that all of the central American countries including Mexico have vaccination rates that are much higher than the US. So, I guess what all of this means is the repubs are still the party of the stupid; denying science to pander to the stupid in their party and putting many people in danger for it…geez…

Is the stupid in the water in Texas?

Well…as you know, I read a lot every day and I come across some really stupid stuff…and a lot of it is from Texas where it appears that the stupid is in the water like flouride. This latest one happened a couple of days ago where a grade school principle suspended an 8 year old for bringing a ring to school and saying it was the magic ring from “Lord of the Rings” and he could make one of his classmates invisible with the ring….the idiot principal of the school said that saying he could turn someone invisible was a “threat” so she suspended this 8 year old…for having an imagination, I guess. The worst thing is this same kid was suspended a couple of months ago for bringing his copy of “The Big Book of Knowledge”, a popular children’s book to school…and the reason for that suspension? The book has a picture of a pregnant woman in it…yep, in Texas the stupid runs so deep that kids get suspended for having a picture book with them….where do they think babies come from? Probably by magic…just like the rest of their thinking on everything….geez…

Here’s the sick thing with ACA repeal…

Well….not sure if you’ve been following the King v. Burwell case that is in front of the supreme court…you know, the onethat the repubs think will undo the ACA because of 5 words that they want to interpret that healthcare subsidies are only available to those on state run exchanges even though every lawmaker that worked on the law says is not the correct interpretation…they intended that all people on the exchanges, both federal and state would get subsidies for their healthcare costs. Here’s the sick thing about this whole case…if the repubs are successful in gutting the law, the fallout will be on people who live in repub dominated states who petulantly refused to set up state exchanges just because they hate Obama and don’t give a damn about anyone but the rich…and the real irony is that most of the people who will no longer be able to afford insurance will be the ones that elected the repubs….I would say they get what they deserve but no one deserves to be without health insurance…and I should know…I have been without it for 13 years now and not a day goes by that I don’t think about what could happen if I get sick…will have no choice but to pull the plug and just die….something the repubs think is how healthcare should work….and I hate them for it…

Pravda of Indiana…..

Well…reading the news today was a little boring until I came upon this little nugget of weirdness out of Indiana…the governor there has decided to create his own “state run media”  so that small newspapers there will be able to get the “news” from the government without sending poor reporters to do that job….it’s goal, stated by the governor is to create pre-packaged “news” stories about what’s happening in the government and to break “news” exclusively on this new website/press release machine without having to have all that messy interaction with the media. I wonder if these idiots have ever read history or anything about the constitution and a “free press”? This whole thing seems to be modeled on the Soviet Union’s “state run” media which was basically the propaganda arm of the state…even more so than fox news is for the repubs on a national level. So, they can’t afford to fix their schools, or their roads, of feed their poor, but they have plenty of cash to pay a bunch of “journalists” to create propaganda that will no doubt say how wonderful things are in Indiana and how great the governor is and how terrible the “libruls” are….I cringe at the tone deafness and stupidity of these folks…geez…

Oh…there was one quote that I forgot to share by a commenter over at Kos…”George Orwell, the author of 1984, is spinning in his grave screaming “1984 is supposed to be a cautionary tale…not a how to manual”…pretty funny….
