Well…have had this one rattling around in my head for a couple of days now and I’m still not sure if I can get it out and make any sense…it started with the latest gambit of the bigots on the right where they are playing the persecution card now that they have been called out on their bigotry towards gays…saying that they are just following their religion so that gives them a pass to be racists and bigots…that may be so within their religion but it doesn’t give them license to push their bigotry on the whole country. That is what they have been doing for years with DOMA, prop 8 in Cali, and the constitutional amendment here in Michigan that bans gay marriage. I, for one, am just damn sick and tired of having religion in the public sphere at all…why should my life and the lives of anyone be affected by silly assed writings done by a bunch of superstitious goatherders over 2,000 years ago….especially since all of them were cribbed from earlier writings…some from over 1500 years before Jesus was supposedly born. I have just one thing to say…if you want to live by the Bible or the teachings of the flying spaghetti monster, go ahead…just leave me out of it and stop trying to jam this crap down the throats of us who think…geez…

Well…it was a long day yesterday but the weird thing is I didn’t get anything done…no, that’s not true…I did get the trunk of the car cleaned up and painted the brackets that hold the battery down along with repairing the vent tube that had split…slept like crap and I was really hoping that the cocktails would make it better…no luck…I am getting really tired of the fact that there has been no spring so far…it was just damn cold working on the car yesterday…not much to do today..was supposed to have lunch with T but that got canceled so it will be just pool today…and that’s okay, really…more later…
I’m done with Obama…
Well…I am sitting here really, really pissed at Obama with the nonsense in his budget that cuts both SS and Medicare…two programs that have absolutely nothing to do with the deficit and which are solvent for the next twenty years…and I am not one of those supporters of his who think this is some “11 dimensional chess” where he is going to be able to get the tax increases the country needs and still not have to make cuts to the programs that seniors and the middle class depend on. I think he is just enthralled by his own legacy where he would be hailed for some stupid “grand bargain” that he could get from the repubs…I think he is just delusional if he thinks he will ever get any compromise from those idiots and why should he even try? When the rich keep getting richer by stealing more and more from the workers that make them successful…where ceo’s pay has gone up by almost 100% in the last three years while they plead poverty and cut benefits…and Obama sits there and does nothing about it…I guess the hope of the middle class now rest with Bernie Sanders and Senator Warren….we’ve all been abandoned by Obama…you guys keep up the good fight…geez…
April 11th
Well…it was another day yesterday and I had fun going out to have a couple with G but have to stop that since I’m broke again…slept okay last night but had weird dreams that I don’t really remember already…probably should have done this about 20 minutes ago so I would have remembered it…oh, well…feel okay this morning but I am just tired of waiting for spring to come…haven’t even been able to get motivated to go out on the bike since I don’t want to go back to thermasuit and gloves…but, it looks like I’ll have to today…have been getting into the curling world championships and Canada is playing Scotland right now which is kind of cool….not much to do today…do need to do the grocery run and get some baking soda since the trunk has a little rust from the battery and I need to get that taken care of before it gets past the surface rust….will have to wait until it gets warmer to paint but at least I can neutralize the acid…more later…
Didn’t meander yesterday…so I will today…
Well…there have been some political things happen over the past few days but just don’t feel like doing one of those today….just want to do some meandering and see where it goes…I still can’t believe that the top on the Miata doesn’t leak even with all of the rain we’ve had over the past few days…my last convert, a Fiat 124 Spyder, leaked almost constantly and you could never get it sealed to keep the wind out…and the Miata is so much better of a car…Still no bites on the resumes this year so far and I am just so disappointed by that…and being broke is still a pain in the butt…the grill that I got for free is working like a champ and I have been grilling almost every day…have some rainbow trout to go on tomorrow and need to make a marinade for them this aft…it looks like the Red Wings aren’t going to make the playoffs this year for the first time in 21 years and that is really disappointing…but, the Tigers are hitting their stride so that will be fun to watch this summer…might be going out to have a couple with G this aft but who knows? Hmmmm…what else? One cool thing that I have found as a Miata owner is the Miata.net site where other owners hang out…without taking the car apart, I feel like I know it so much better just reading others posts…..and it gives me something to do….that’s it….

Well….I need this rain to end…I am getting cranky just sitting here after working out and not being able to ride the bike…and, where the heck is spring? It is supposed to snow again later this week and I am tired of it…oh, well…not much I can do about it…it was an okay day yesterday but I just couldn’t get motivated to cook anything so I am feeling the effects today…it’s nice to be losing the winter weight but I have no energy and that is really a pain…I do have to try to get some things done around here today but the gloom is draining all of my motivation…maybe I’ll feel like it later…and I will get to another one today…just need to think about what it could be…
I’m glad there is room for Alison Krause…
Well…have been watching a concert on tv with Alison Krause and Union Station and the thought came to me that I am glad there is still room in the music business for a group like that…with all of the new country crap that I hear all the time, some clean and clear bluegrass is like a palette cleanser….and to hear them do “Of Constant Sorrow” made me laugh out loud…the joy that comes through from these talented people; the simplicity of the music and Alison’s easy voice just made me feel better and isn’t that what music is supposed to be about? Well…sometimes, anyway,….just some thoughts….
Meandering around…
Well…I have been trying to get a political one out here for a few days and have not had much luck…one thing I did want to comment on is a trend I see..or at least I hope I see..that the repubs have taken control of many states but, as they implement their radical reverse Robin Hood nonsense to reward their rich donors, destroy womens rights, and keep on hating the gays…people are starting to see then for what they are and it is not pretty…and most people are seeing that the “vision” of the repubs is not the vision they want. We just have to look at gun control and the obstructionism that the repubs are using to serve their masters in the NRA…over 90% of the people of this country want some form of background checks before a gun can be purchased and yet the repubs will not let that pass….exactly who are they representing? Here in Michigan we had CEO bonuses paid for by taxing the pensions of retirees and finally people are starting to try to do something about it….I really do hope that we can keep the groundswell going against this nonsense and just maybe we’ll have a country that we can be proud of again, one where everyone has the same rights and can freely exercise them…I have to hold on to that hope….

Well…running late again today and I blame it on basketball…and I am a little disappointed that Michigan lost…and I do feel a little crappy after the g and t’s but I knew that was going to happen so I’m not surprised….it was an okay day yesterday but I didn’t do much…skipped the bike ride even since the wind was blowing almost 40 at times and that is just too much…have to stop being so lazy and get some stuff done around here today…the leaning tower of papers is looking quite ominous reaching over my head as it does….so that will be one thing I will get done today….I did get out to Target to buy some new t-shirts that I desperately needed…and got 5 of them for 20 bucks…100% cotton Champions so that was pretty cool…not much to do today…if it ever warms up, I will get a bike ride in later…but that is about it…more later…
More fallout from Citizens United…
Well…you’ve heard me rail about the stupid CU decision by the SC many times here, and while the effect of unlimited money has not swayed national elections, if we take a look a little lower down into state elections, we can see where the real mischief is being done. Here in Michigan, you have the DeVoses who have bought themselves a legislature and with it their own pet right to work for less laws, and huge tax cuts for business while everyone else pays more…and the bit by bit dismantling of the public school system. In North Carolina…one man and the companies he is connected to gave over 80% of the money that was used to buy repubs seats in the legislature, and with those seats come laws that want to establish christianity as the state religion, right to work for less being enshrined in their constitution, more abortion restrictions along with the continued discrimination against anyone who is not a white, male, religious bigot. This is where we need to concentrate our efforts if we want to get back to a country that doesn’t spend it’s time and money taking away rights or preventing people from gaining those rights they are already entitled to….this crap just can’t be allowed to stand…geez…
