Well…darn, I almost forgot to do this one today with cleaning all day…and I’m still not done but only have the bathroom to do so I’ll get that done in the morning…just today ole moscow mitch used the filibuster to keep the senate from passing the law that would set up the January 6 commission to investigate what happened when the right wingers attacked the capital…but the repubs sure don’t want that since all of them were involved if you look at the votes they took to dispute the election results…but the thing that burns me is that the supposed democratic senator from Arizona, Kristin Sinema couldn’t even be bothered to show up for the vote….and that made sure the filibuster couldn’t be broken….what the hell is her job? What is more important than saving our country? Now is the time to just end the filibuster and get the rest of Biden’s agenda passed…and that includes the law to nullify all of the voter suppression that the repubs have passed across the country…and tell Sinema to be the dem she is supposed to be and do her job….
May 28th
Well…running a little late today with just refusing to get out of bed until 6:30 or so…and I feel pretty slow with the damn allergies flaring like crazy today…and that is just a continuation of how bad they’ve been…something out at the beach whacked me yesterday and I couldn’t stop coughing…it was so bad I had to stop the bike and drink some water to get it to stop…I think I need to find a better allergy medicine if it’s going to be like this all the time….it was pretty funny yesterday when I saw a car from channel 13 sitting at the beach and then seeing the report from the beach on the news last night…and I never watch the local news so I’m not sure why I did yesterday….not sure if I’m going to get a ride in today with it being so cold the heat has been on all night and the wind blowing like crazy…it is supposed to be blowing from 15-25 mph all day with gusts of up to 40 so that will keep me in…but, I need to clean this place up with my son and his wife and their dog coming out to hang for a while this weekend….damn, my right elbow really hurts today as it did yesterday…so much pain that I could barely lift my water glass….squeezing anything with my right hand sets it off and it’s been years since it’s been this bad…and I don’t have a clue how I hurt it….oh, well….just getting old I guess….more later….
It’s treason….
Well…with every damn one of the repub senators set to vote against a commission to investigate the January 6 attack on our country, it is not hyperbole to say we are witnessing a continuation of that attack and that makes this vote treason for every repub senator that votes against the investigation. This from a party who spent two years and 8 separate investigations on Benghazi! and found nothing…while there have already been over 400 people charged in relation to the attack and I’m sure the reason they don’t want an investigation is that a large number of these same repubs were involved with the sedition….I want to know who Kevin McCarthy talked to that day and what he had to say to them…we know he talked to trump and we know that trump was happy watching the attack and now ole kevvie heads down to trumps tacky resort to kiss his ass almost daily? Look, what Nancy Pelosi needs to do is just appoint a special prosecutor to get to the bottom of it…just like Watergate or any other attack on this country and let the repubs stew about it…they are all dishonest assholes anyway and will only obstruct the investigation…so cut the repubs loose and tell them to go to hell….geez…
Weird weather advisories…
Well…it’s still under 50 degrees out here so I thought I’d talk about something that is a little strange living on the coast of Lake Michigan….almost every day, there is a weather advisory out here that pops up on the weather app that I use on both my phone and tablet….back in GR, you’d get severe thunderstorm watches and warnings along with the same for tornados, but they didn’t happen every day…but out here we get some new ones that I hadn’t seen before…there are always small craft advisories for the coastline when the wind blows at all…and that is every day…but a new one came up today that made me think of doing this one….we are under a gale watch out here today for the entire coast line from South Haven to Manistee….with the possibility of steady winds of 35 mph plus that will start later in the day…and they warn people to make sure their boats are tied up properly and that any items in yards such as umbrellas and patio furniture are properly secured…now, what the heck does that mean? I can understand taking an umbrella down and putting it in the garage or basement…but how do you secure the rest of the set? Do people have tie downs like small aircraft? Back in GR, when a warning came up it was pretty serious but out here it looks like they warn about everything…I guess if I had a boat it would be of use but, if you don’t, who cares about small craft advisories? Okay, this is just an observation and I guess there are lots of people with boats out here that can use the info….just not used to this new normal yet….
May 27th
Well…this was a little weird…I woke up at around 6 but instead of coming here or reading the news, I just went back to bed for an hour and a half…didn’t sleep much but I think it helped get me started for the day….we’ll see later after the coffee starts to work….still pretty worn out after doing 30 miles on the bike yesterday but I’m not too sore so I’ll take that and build on it….I do need to seed some more areas of the yard today with the rain that is coming later in the day but I’m not sure how that will work without the topsoil to hold it in place…and I don’t feel like going to depot to get more…I do need to run some errands this morning but I am going to wait until it warms up enough to put the top down on the car…I did buy some burger yesterday and I am going to have a red meat orgy this weekend with olive burgers and tacos….and I think I’m even going to have some cocktails…I really try to not eat red meat too often but damn, I just need to have some once in a while…and with meijers having it for 1.79 a pound this week, I just couldn’t pass it up….it would be nice to have a grill to cook the burgs but I am in no spending mode for the next couple of months or so trying to get my goal of 20k in the checking account again so I can relax a little bit…..and get ready for the 4 grand that is going out in August to pay my property taxes and car insurance…not much to do today….just need to run the errands and then I think I’m going to get the mower out and finish up the vacant lot across the street for Glenn….I made him late so he couldn’t finish it and I like helping with this stuff….more later…
Wildlife and other stuff….
Well…it’s the second day of quiet up here and it is odd how not thinking about that all the time has opened me up to seeing and appreciating other things that are around me…this morning, when I was on the trail through the woods, I saw a red headed woodpecker fly across the trail in front of me and land on a tree and I couldn’t believe how big it was…it must have been a foot tall and I don’t remember them being that big…on the way back down the hill from the beach, there was a deer just standing next to the trail eating someone’s lawn…it looked up as I approached but didn’t run…it just watched me and then went back to eating…that was a little weird…when I was heading out for the second ride, I saw that someone was mowing the empty lot across the street so I turned around to go back and talk to him for a while to find out why he was doing it…it turns out that the city pays people 200 bucks a year to adopt a lot and that lot is one they assigned to him…he lives in the neighborhood and was a pretty nice guy but he had an electric mower that went dead before he finished so I think I’ll finish it up for him tomorrow and do the trimming with my string trimmer…will give me something to do and I do want to help out….oh, one more thing, my daughter and her husband just bought a “summer home” in the Poconos…I’m pretty happy they are doing so well….
A trump grand jury…
Well…yeah, doing a political one this early in the morning feels a little weird to me but I ran out of news to read as I wait for C&J to be posted over at Kos so I thought I’d talk about this little nugget that brought a smile to my face yesterday…there has been a grand jury empaneled to look at the evidence that the idiot trump is a crook and deserves to be indicted…and, while that is reason to smile, you have to remember the old saw from a prosecutor from a few years back that stated that he could “get a ham sandwich indicted” since he is the only one that presents evidence to the grand jury…that said, there has been evidence for a long time, including testimony that trump has committed bank fraud for a long, long time and now Cy Vance has the tax returns to prove it. So, I sit here with my fingers crossed that the orange menace will finally have to pay for all of his criminality…wouldn’t it be nice to see the orange menace in an orange jumpsuit? That would make my day…but it will take time…probably the end of summer….
May 26th
Well…it finally rained last night but it was too late for me to see it and that was a little disappointing….still having problems sleeping again and I’m feeling it today…and I think I pulled something in my right side working on the yard yesterday since my ribs on that side hurt like crazy but it could be that I just slept on it wrong…cripes, it sucks getting old….I did get a lot of stuff done in the yard yesterday with mowing, running the string trimmer, planting grass seed, and then feeding it again…found out that with sandy soil, you have to feed the grass differently….much less feed but much more often is the best way to green it up so I tried that and we’ll see how that works…I did have a flat on the bike yesterday but the rear tire went flat when it was just sitting here so I didn’t have to ride it back flat again….still trying to figure out how the hole got in the inside of the tube when I couldn’t feel anything that would do it…I did have a nice, quiet day around here yesterday and I hope today is the same…was very relaxing and I didn’t need any antacids at all….not much to do today…just the grocery runs and then getting on the bike but I need to start planning on painting the trim on the doors that is still raw wood or primer and needs to get protected….and I need to clean some since the kitchen is a little dirty and the floor could use mopping….more later…
What the hell happened to RFK jr.?
Well….when you are the son of a consistent liberal who was assassinated and spent his life working to make it better for the regular American, how the hell do you end up hanging out with Nazis? That is exactly what happened with RFK jr. and now he is suing Daily Kos to try to get the name of the person that did the honest diary there that reported on Jr. meeting up with ultra right wing neo nazis in Germany…and we can’t ignore the first amendment issues here that the right wing consistently ignores except to bleat about it when their hate is removed from social media and they are “canceled”…not even understanding that private companies can’t violate your 1st amendment rights…that can only be done by a government entity of some sort….and here’s the thing, the right wing judge that got the case ruled that Kos has to supply the name and that ruling is being appealed….it has been reported that the entire Kennedy family is running away from this idiot and I wonder what is he getting by being a terrible nazi lover? Of course, all of this is just my opinion and that IS protected by the first amendment…but, if you were seen at a nazi rally, doesn’t that make you at least a sympathizer? I guess every family has their morons in them….
May 25th
Well…man, for being good last night, I still feel pretty crappy this morning and didn’t sleep well at all…but, I have lots to do today and I’ll need to shake that off and get at it here in a few minutes….need to get the string trimmer out and then mow the lawn and get some bare parts seeded since it is going to rain later today and last a while and that may just sprout the seed…finally…after using the weed killer, almost half of the lawn is now dead and needs seed but I am going to take it piece by piece since doing large parts without a cover of topsoil didn’t work too well…only did one ride yesterday and today looks the same with using the morning to work around here and the rain coming in by late afternoon….it looks like I’ll get to 1k miles for the year in the next couple of days but won’t get anywhere near the 6k I did last year…and that’s okay….I won’t say not much to do today because I do have lots to do and will be working all morning and then I have to use up leftovers for lunch….then on the bike for a ride and I may be able to get a little down time later in the day….more later….
