Well…another pretty wasted day yesterday but I did get a few things done so maybe it wasn’t a total loss….but my back is still stiff and that makes getting in and out of the car a little iffy…I wonder if a time will come that I can’t get in and out of it? I did make a little cash yesterday and I am going to do that again today so that is cool…so there will be groceries again this week….I did get some salmon filets marinated that I am going to bake today…think I’m going to try them in parchment paper to see how that works…and I should clean today and I might but I’m not sure about that right now…still too early to tell….need more coffee and to veg for a while first…so that is what I’m going to do….more later…
RIP John Surtees…
Well…I think it’s a pretty good bet that you will have no clue who John Surtees was…and that he died yesterday at 84….back in the 60’s when I was just getting interested in racing, there was not much coverage of it…certainly no tv, so you had to get your fix by newspapers or magazines…but that has nothing to do with this….John Surtees was the only person to ever win the motorcycle world championship and then later, the Formula 1 world championship for cars. Widely regarded as one of the most talented and nicest guys in racing…RIP John….
March 11th
Well…I need coffee….and my back is still hurting this morning…it’s tough to bend over at all without pain so I guess I won’t be doing that much today….I did win at pool yesterday so that was cool…but I didn’t get anything else done….and I’m not sure what I’ll get done today…don’t feel that hot this morning and I am having a hard time getting going…and the cold is not helping my mood..it is only 15 degrees outside and that is way too cold for March….and that will continue all week which is depressing, too….oh, well…I do have an errand to run this morning but that will be later after I have my coffee….okay….not feeling this right now so I am going to have more coffee and just veg for a while….more later…
Paul Ryan is just not too bright…
Well…the guy in charge of “fixing” health insurance in this country has no clue how insurance works…let that sink in for a minute…Paul Ryan has no clue how insurance works and now want to “fix” the system. The other day, when giving a presentation on his plan, ole Paul decried the fact that healthy people had to pay premiums that would pay for healthcare for sick people who also paid premiums…I just slapped my head when I heard that…especially since that is exactly how insurance works…everyone pays into a pool and then the risk is spread across the entire insured population….but that’s not how repubs look at anything…any shared risk is “communism” in their eyes…and I heard another one of these idiots bitch the other day why any man should have to pay into a pool that covered maternity care…that right there is the problem with the repubs…they don’t believe in community or shared goals but just their own damn selfishness…they don’t want to pay for roads in other states, they don’t want to help their fellow Americans suffering natural disasters, and they sure don’t want to have to help pay for “women’s health” and all the icky stuff that goes along with that…I just hate these people..they have destroyed the sense of community that any country needs to survive….
March 10th
Well…running early today and I’m not sure why….I’m trying out the no dish antenna this morning….have to get ready for turning off the dish at the end of the month…Mork and Mindy is on and that will make a good background noise for the morning…I did get my internet fixed yesterday…or my son fixed my internet I should say…it is weird to watch him working on the computer remotely but cool, too….my back has been hurting in new areas over the past few days and that is strange…haven’t done anything to hurt it and I hope it’s not just getting older…..I did have to go out to get groceries I forgot this morning…and they had eggs on sale for 69 cents so I had to buy them….not going to do much today…pool, but that is about it…more later……
The conflict of interest administration….
Well…if it wasn’t sickening enough that trump and his “administration” is rife with conflicts of interest and whose sole purpose seems to be to enrich trump and his cronies, we now know that his disgraced nations security adviser, Michael Flynn, was working as an agent of the Turkish government and was paid over a half million dollars during that time…now, someone with ethics…and that is no one in the trump administration, would think there is something wrong with that…allowing a foreign government to pay someone in trump’s campaign to shape our foreign policy…but trump’s modus operandi has always been “pay for play” and has changed our foreign policy to serve Putin and anyone who ponies up the big bucks….you repubs should be sick that trump is selling our government to the highest bidder…but no, nothing matters to you but tax cuts for the rich and hating on everyone else…what a corrupt bunch of assholes….
Internet problems…
Well…have been trying to get my internet company to fix the intermittent problems but on the phone with the earlier, it is OF COURSE problems with my equipment not their line coming in…so, I had my son remote access my system to try to figure out what is going on…haven’t figured out really what is going on yet but I am going to stream all day and wait for it to crap out again so he can see what is going on…kind of like a car that has an intermittent problem…the mechanics can’t figure it out until it does it while they have the car….more later….
March 9th
Well…running a little late today since I had to do the grocery run this morning…..yesterday was pretty wild with the wind gusting to 60 in the aft and I am glad I had my grill chained down since it tried to fly away 3 times and I had to go out and pick it up and put it back together…needless to say there was no bike ride yesterday and I don’t know if I’ll go out today…if it gets to 40 or better I may consider it but right now it looks like just another day of vegging….I think my neck is a little better today and I hope that continues the rest of the day…I did finally get some food around here and actually bought some fruit this week…and some veggies…got carrots buy one get one free so I now have 6 pounds of carrots that I don’t know what I’m going to do with them….think I’ll make some for lunch with some pork loin that I got cheap….I do need to talk to the internet company today since my new speed is so damn variable that I’m not getting what I paid for…supposed to get 12 mbps but last night it was all the way down to .17 so I couldn’t run anything….that will be the project for the day…more later….
International women’s day…
Well….almost forgot that today is International Women’s Day…a day to celebrate women and their accomplishments across the world and to make the world know that there is still a long way to go until women have full equality in all parts of life. I’ve never understood why the repubs of his country spend all their time trying to make sure women are second class citizens, trying to make sure they can’t control their own bodies or get equal pay for equal work….I understand the value that women have had in my life…how knowing them and trying to understand them have made me a better person….Okay, don’t want to make this one too political and I won’t…I just want to say I appreciate the women who have come into and gone out of my life over the years…I have learned a lot from you and I just want to say thank you….
Calling them stupid is too charitable….
Well…I know I did one of these with the same theme last week, but the story won’t die so I thought I’d weigh in on the new developments in “healthcare reform”. With the release of the repubs “unaffordable care act” yesterday, people are finally starting to realize that the repubs and trump are not going to make sure they have “the best health insurance” as trump so famously stated during the campaign, but they are going to gut the ACA and 30 million people are going to have to go without insurance again since it will no longer be affordable. And now, the media are talking to trump voters again, telling them how the law will affect them…that they are going to lose their insurance again….and the refrain that you hear most often from these idiots is that they “believed trump when he said he would make insurance more affordable”….now…there is no other conclusion that calling these people stupid is way too charitable…trump is a proven liar and there was so much evidence to not trust a word out of his mouth that there must be another reason they still voted for him….and against their own self interest…and I think it is ignorance, racism, and hatred that motivated these voters…after all, if they would have listened to anything but fox news, they would have known that the first thing Paul Ryan was going to do was to take away their insurance…but these idiot voters thought “Benghazi”, immigrants, and e-mails…all nothing burgers of issues were the most important thing they have ever heard and were enough for them to vote for an ignorant liar and his cronies. The problem here is that they didn’t just screw themselves, some of them have signed their own death warrants (now that is a “death panel”) since there are estimates that 15-20,000 extra people will die due to the lack of healthcare per year….and they screwed the entire country with their ignorance…and the kicker was many of these folks admitted they had never voted before but they “trusted” trump and felt a need to vote for him….I am just shaking my head about that little revelation….I guess the ignorants elected the ignorants….and we are all paying for it….
