Well…those wonderful, fiscally responsible repubs that are running our state flushed $800,000 of our dollars down the toilet over the past few months drug testing welfare recipients ostensibly to prevent them from spending welfare money on drugs. But, guess what? In all that testing not one person tested positive…and that explodes the repub myth that all welfare recipients are low life drug users…but, that’s not what testing is about anyway…it is just another way for the repubs to punish the poor since being poor, in the repub mind, is their fault and they are beneath contempt….I hope this starts to put an end to this nonsense once and for all…we all should let our reps know that this crap is unacceptable…won’t make any difference to the repubs but we should try…geez…
A good day for women…
Well…it is a good day for women’s rights today with the supreme court decision striking down a particularly onerous anti abortion law in Texas. In a total repudiation of so called “TRAP” laws that try to eliminate a woman’s right to choose by putting severe restrictions on the providers, the court ruled that the laws requiring doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital and that the clinics need to be mini hospitals were unconstitutional and placed an “undue burden” on women seeking abortions. So, that means that the 13 repub controlled states that have passed these laws will no longer be able to enforce this intrusion into the private decisions that a woman can make about her own health….and I hope will give these asses pause when they try to think up even more creative ways to deny women their rights. Yeah….I know, there is no stopping the repubs as they take away women’s rights, voting rights, and anyone else’s rights that they don’t personally agree with….but, I’ll take this decision today….

Well…it was an okay day yesterday but the bug kept me laid low for the day and today looks much the same…still feel pretty crappy and the cough is still here so I don’t think I’ll be too ambitious today…I did talk to K yesterday and she said that her whole family had this bug last week so I don’t have to think about what it is…slept okay last night but I am so tired of feeling sweaty…I know I bitch about the cold in the spring but we could use a little relief right now…and I wish I felt good enough to go to the beach…maybe tomorrow….not sore anywhere today but that will change after I get out on the bike today..skipped yesterday and feel guilty about that…and I need to work out to start to burn the virus out…not much to do today…going to try to take it easy and watch more soccer after the bike ride but that is about it…just don’t have any energy….more later…
June 26th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I didn’t get anything done…again….slept okay last night but I know I have a bug with my lungs being filled with crap and coughing like crazy…I knew there was something wrong yesterday since I felt weird and warm….oh, well….not sore today so that is something….but, I do have a sore throat, too…so today looks like a day to lay low especially with the rain that is coming in about an hour or so…have been wanting to take a day off the bike just for body maintenance so today looks like a good one…yeah…probably not…I’ll just wait for the rain to move through and then go later….not much to do today….should clean a little but feel so worn out that I probably won’t….just need more coffee but only had a cup and a half left in the maker…could make more, I guess…but it seems like too much work….more later….
Brexit….
Well…not sure if you’ve been following it or not, but England just voted to leave the EU and, in the process, threw a wrench into the global financial system….with the Dow losing over 600 points in reaction. And, it didn’t need to happen…it was just a political miscalculation by their prime minister, Cameron, who has been wrong on almost everything since he took over…especially with his slavish devotion to austerity which has hit the middle class and the poor in England much more than the ruling classes. But, when you dig into the numbers, it was the old, white people who were duped into voting against their own self interest by racist, xenophobic lies…does that sound familiar? It is the template that the repubs have been using in the US for some time now and, up to this point, it has worked…you just have to look at the nomination of Trump who threw the racism into overdrive and shouts it every chance he gets…but, the problem with the low information voters in England that voted with their guts instead of their heads is that they have just resigned their country to almost permanent recession….and have sentenced their children to less than they had…less opportunity for good jobs and less chance for them to advance in the world….just what Trump wants to do here….the stupidity is just hard to fathom….geez…

Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I lost at pool, finally, and that was okay, too….slept okay last night and don’t feel as bad as I should so I guess I’ll take it…no dreams to speak of and I am over the idea that it is disappointing…just normal, I guess….the cut on my finger has healed up some and doesn’t hurt anymore so I am going to let it stay in the air without a bandage and hope it doesn’t get infected….not sure if I like the new knife…my old Henkel is still a better one but I did need another one….not sore at all today so the bike ride will be a long one again…I do have to reset the pins in the rear shifter since they are working out again and the shifts are not right….should put the new one on one of these days but it just seems like too much work right now…not much to do today….I think I’ll just veg out and watch soccer…no motivation right now…more later….
June 24th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I got the car cleaned so that was cool…how it go so dirty I don’t know but it is cleaned now…not sure why I’m running so early today but I guess I’ll just go with it…slept okay last night but no dreams and I was kind of getting used to them so it is a little disappointing….I did slice open one of my fingers using a new chef’s knife I bought the other day…it is about an inch longer than my old one and I think I didn’t compensate enough for that…and it is much sharper, too, so I guess I’ll have to be careful….not sore today and I should be with the ride being such torture yesterday…I just can’t figure out why that is with Wed being such a good one…not much to do today…pool, of course, and maybe lunch with T…haven’t seen her in almost a month and I’m not sure why…and I am going to make a little cash today….more later…
Stairway to Heaven…
Well…do I have your attention after that title? Hope so…but this one is a little obscure but I wanted to do something a little different today…one of my favorite bands, Led Zeppelin, and it’s founders and last surviving members Page, Plant, and Jones, have been involved in a plagiarism lawsuit brought by the estate of the lead guitar player of a band called Spirit…who you may or not have heard of…who wrote a song called Taurus back in the early 70’s that had a few chord progressions that sound something like the intro to STH. I listened to it the other day and I did find a couple of notes that kind of sound like one part of STH but the rest of it is nothing like it…and today, the court in LA agreed that the parts that the plaintiffs said were stolen have existed in the public domain for hundreds of years and that Page and Plant didn’t steal them….so two years of a cloud over the guys has been cleared and STH has been shown to be an original work….with the climate of litigation these days, I am really surprised that the case was decided as it was…and I think it was decided correctly….
June 23rd
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I got a few things done so that was cool…was good again last night and fell pretty good this morning…even slept okay…kinda….so that helps, too….I did scorch myself a little trying to even out the bike tan yesterday…only an hour in the sun and my skin feels it today…but, the bike tan has gotten so bad that I had to do something…will do that again today if there is sun…I am a little irritated that the storms all stayed to the south yesterday but the change in humidity today is welcome….would have been nice to get the car cleaned…so, I’ll have to wash it this morning and do the interior since the dust is getting bad and it is looking old….I did get a new chef’s knife yesterday for only 4 bucks and it is pretty sharp and weird with the blade being powder coated with designs on it…not much to do today…going to wash the and get the bike ride in, then I am going to clean….more later….

Well…my cynicism has been destroyed today but a simple act that is going on in the US House of Representatives today where the dems have had enough of repub obstructionism of sensible gun legislation and are staging a sit in on the house floor. They are joined by their Senate colleagues who the repubs obstructed earlier in the week when THEY tried to get some sensible gun legislation passed…and the repub response? The chicken speaker of the house, Paul Ryan, ordered the cameras for C-span shut off so no one can see this remarkable act of civil disobedience but he is so stupid that he doesn’t understand that there are many other ways to get pictures out these days…then he forbids cameras of any type on the floor…now, which party is the one of freedom and progress and which one is for suppressing the will of the people? I think you can guess…GO DEMS!
