The deficit drops…

Well…I have been just shaking my head at the hypocrisy of the right for the past few years concerning the federal deficit but one new little tidbit of information that came out this morning highlights how the concern from Ryan, Cantor and their cronies is just so fake and partisan…this morning, the CBO reported that the deficit is going to be under 500 billion dollars for the year…the lowest since 2000, the year that ole GW took office…that means that every year that that idiot was in office, the supposedly terrible deficit was ignored by the repubs and when the dems were in control, they never held the government hostage to try to cut it. So, when you hear anyone on the right bitch about how out of control “Obama’s” spending is, you just have to tell them this little truth…they won’t believe it but you should tell them anyway…maybe their heads will explode and that will be fun to watch….geez…

New stuff or old stuff?

Well…have been sitting here trying to figure out some new stuff to say but have only come up with snippets that wouldn’t make a whole one of these so this one is going to be a little disjointed…okay, most of these are a little disjointed but that’s my “style” and I’m sticking by that….forgot to mention this morning that the snow totals for this year here in GR are 4 feet more than last year…yep, 4 feet more than the 37 inches of last year and we still have more than a month of winter left to go…might be a record year if we get 15 more inches…I still can’t believe we’ve gotten 85 inches of snow this year…no wonder I’m so depressed…is this old or new stuff? Not sure…but I have been following the debt ceiling fight…another one of those? Yep, here we go again but this time the repubs have figured out that they are not going to be able to hold it hostage and crash the economy to try to jerk the country even farther to the right…and have given up before the fight began…but, ole Boehner has tried to save face by saying he won’t give Obama immigration reform this year to spite him….yeah, spite away, John…are you guys so stupid that you don’t recognize that every time you pull this crap of trying to hurt people it comes back to bite you in the ass? Yeah, they really, really, are…oh, and one last thing…the deficit is down to 1/3 of what it was when Obama took office….yep, this big spending, communist has reduced the deficit more than any repub president in the last 30 years…and he is still a socialist…I say, give me more socialism is that’s what it looks like…geez…

And now for something really stupid…

Well…I was reading an article today that had ole Boehner talking about how bad the deficit is and how it is the only important thing for the house to focus on…but his reasoning made my jaw drop and it is still on the floor as I try to absorb the stupid…his reasoning went like this: because we have run deficits for 55 of the last 60 years, it shows that the government needs to bet cut and live within it’s means or there will be some sort of huge catastrophe….get that? The deficit is so terrible that we need to cut head start, unemployment, SS, and every other safety net program…and we need to do it right now since we may get the same result we’ve gotten for the last 60 years….and that is nothing…no dire consequences, no total meltdown of the economy, no sale of the country to the Chinese, no dogs marrying cats…no nothing. And now, this piece of crap has just proposed a bill that would pay bondholders first if the repubs decide to crash the economy by not raising the debt ceiling…that means we pay China and the rest of the repubs buddies while the military, seniors, and everyone else that has earned benefits will get stiffed…just what you would expect from the repubs and this POS….the stupid runs deep here….geez….

Let’s stop this “visionary” nonsense…

Well…just a short one about the plaudits that have come in for ole Ryan after his nomination…first, let’s look at the effect of his budget plan…and I am going to be blunt…to follow his plan…that won’t balance the budget until I’m long dead…in the 2040′s….we will need to cut 91% of all spending that is not military…yep, you heard it…91% of all government spending on everything that makes a government and a society, schools, safety nets, unemployment insurance, job training,….you get the idea…his vision is that the US will be a military with a little bit of government thrown in….and, to top it off…ole Mitt will pay less than 1% in taxes on his income…while you and I will continue to pay 30%….it you think this is the path this country should take…vote for these guys..if you do, you are all idiots…geez…yep, I said idiots…please comment…I’m waiting for it…

This is just too funny…

Well…just wanted to get a quick one in here before I get to the races so I won’t be thinking about it during the race…I find the latest non-partisan scoring of the competing tax bills that have come out of the White House and the repub candidates just so damn funny that I had to write about it…in it, the economists agree that the plans of the repub candidates, to a man, will end up being worse for the economy and will increase, not decrease the deficits…and they all show to be much worse that the one proposed by the White House that will be DOA in the House. One of the telling things that was buried in the articles that I’ve read is the fact the ole Mitt’s plan will give massive tax cuts to the rich and raise taxes on everyone else….even the president of Bank of America has said that taxes should be raised on those making over a million dollars a year and should be even higher for those making 10 million a year, and the Murdoch owned right wing Wall Street Journal agreed this week. When the repubs are losing the banks and the Journal, who do they have left that thinks they know what they are doing? Not many, I hope…

Voodoo economics is back…again…

Well….with all of the praise that Paul Ryan is getting for his budget proposals, you would think he was on to something new, since his plan has been deified in the right wing press as the heaven sent solution to all of our problems…okay, I made that last part up but I really think that has been the gist of the reaction from even mainstream media. To get a full explanation that is done better than I could do, check out Paul Krugman’s column in the NY times this morning…yeah, I know, I have been trying to not go there but it is hard to give up something that has been a part of my life for so many years. Now, back to the Ryan proposal, the cornerstone of this monstrosity is the re-invention of the voodoo economics of the Reagan administration; that is, that as you cut taxes, revenue to the government will rise…a theory that has been proven wrong every time it has been tried since the 80′s….if this stupid theory worked, the government would be awash in money and there would be no deficit problem since overall taxes are lower now that they have been on over 50 years. The only question that comes to my mind is prove it; where are all of these dollars they talk about?

The second thing that all of us should be quite concerned about is the inclusion in Ryan’s proposal to turn Medicare into a private insurance scam that would give insurance companies the ability to make trillions more profit off people that have no place else to go. How can he stand there with a straight face and say that it will save money to change a program that has a 9% overhead to one a private one whose overheard ranges from 20-30%. Just another plan to reward the rich insurance companies at the expense of you and me. Aren’t you tired of this crap yet? Geez….

Here’s the reason…

Well…there has been idea gestating in my head over the past couple of days that is a response to the columnists here in Michigan who are decrying the pushback to gov Snyders budget proposals as just more of the same special interest excesses that have put us in this dire budget crises. But, in this case, I think most of the pundits have it wrong….where workers have done their part over the past twenty years to help make the economy viable by giving back on wages and benefits with the promise of those givebacks being temporary, they have now awoken to the true fact that their sacrifice was just a part of a larger con game being run on them by business and repubs. I also feel that it is past time for them to see that the ‘shared sacrifice” that is espoused by Snyder is a one-sided bargain where business gets everything they want in tax breaks and the restriction of workers rights and the rest of us pay for it. Why should the workers and retirees of this state believe anything these guys say when they have been lied to for the last 20 years?

I contend that this pushback is a logical response to the lies and rigging of the economy that the repubs have foisted on us; and is not equivalent to the naked greed that drives business and their partner cons…the repubs…geez…
