Well…you would think that the idiots in charge of Lansing would learn from their abject failures…but no, they are repubs who never learn anything. One of the mantras we hear all the time from these folks that it will be better if we run government like a business…it will save money…greedy unions have to go, etc…but the results are clear to see…from the Flint water crisis caused so that the emergency manager could save 100 dollars a day and look good to his cronies in the Snyder administration, to the privatization of food services for the state’s prisons that rewarded big donors to the repubs with profit while they fed prisoners food that was spoiled and had workers that smuggled drugs into the prisons….to the latest outrage of the veterans home in GR where the union aides and nurses were canned so they could give the contract for patient care to a private company that repeatedly failed to take care of the patients there…patients who are military people..yeah, the ones that the repubs supposedly revere but not if they cost anything. The system worked perfectly fine with some of the best care in the country until the repubs again privatized services there…but the real goal was to do whatever they could to gut public sector unions…and patient care be damned if they could save a couple of million dollars. This is the problem with running government like a business…it just isn’t one! And the bottom line mentality does not work unless you don’t give a damn about any outcome except cutting costs…and cutting costs doesn’t work all the time in business…we had a saying in my business days: you can’t cut your way to growth and profitability….but to the idiots running this state, it’s the only thing they know…geez….

I’m done with NASCAR…
Well…I am just a little chagrined with the news that the leadership of nascar and many of the drivers have come out and endorsed Donald Trump for president….I guess we all now know that racism is still alive and well in the south…now, people can endorse anyone they want…but I don’t have to pay or support their decision by watching them anymore….this just shows that these folks are not too bright…or they agree with all the terrible things the Donald has said and continues to say…do they really believe that all Mexicans are drug mules and rapists as Donald has said on more than one occasion? Do they really believe that all Muslims should be watched by the state? All I know is that Nascar ended for me today…and I have been watching it since the 70’s….I hope the rest of the progressive people in this country do the same….geez…
Texas is just crazy…
Well….as you know, I really don’t understand Texas and the idiots who are running that state…and that was really brought home by the latest bit of insanity that their legislators have foisted on that state. On August 1st, a new open carry law takes effect that requires state run universities to allow students to carry guns on campus…needless to say, this has administrators scrambling to figure out how to deal with this crap….they are now having seminars for professors across that state that basically tells them to let the gun carriers do whatever they want…to not criticize them, to makes sure they get “fair” grades, and to not ever confront them over bad behavior….so, the gun nuts get to do whatever they want while the rest of the people have to just take crap from them…I guess that’s consistent with the repub hatred of education and teachers…that teacher’s safety is less important than the nuts that want to carry guns everywhere….how much more stupid can people get? And do you believe for a minute that these gun carriers aren’t going to try to intimidate teachers and other students?

Courser and Gamrat get what they deserve…
Well…just wanted to talk about this obscure Michigan story for a minute…yesterday I read about this one with just a little too much glee but I don’t feel bad about it….if you remember, Courser and Gamrat were tea party darlings that were elected to the Michigan house on their standard “family values” and integrity platform that all of these idiots spout…but that only applies to the peons like you and me. As soon as these two got into office, they started an affair that took most of their time and they basically stopped doing the job they were elected to do…which, how crazy these two are, was not a bad thing…after a while their staff got tired of covering for them and the affair came to light…then these “family values” repubs got tossed from the legislature and I thought we’d heard the last from them…but, this week, the AG here filed felony charges against both of these idiots for lying to investigators…and the charges for ole Courser could land him in jail for 20 years while Gamrat could be gone for 10 or so…typical, typical repubs who don’t think the law applies to them…okay, I’m not going to apologize for being gleeful about this…this is the type of karma that needs to happen more often….
Dow and the Supreme Court….
Well…getting to the end of the month and I am running out of topics so it looks like I will need a couple of fillers to make the goal for the month…I did want to talk about the effect the death of Scalia is having on business…many of them are realizing that with Scalia gone, business will no longer have their best set of shills on the court who invariably rule for business…and you only have to look at Citizens United and the Hobby Lobby decisions to see how far these guys will bend over backward to make sure business and the 1% get what they paid for….and the latest indicator that business is realizing the gravy train is over is the settlement that Dow Chemical made over the past week of almost a billion dollars to settle a price fixing class action suit even going so far to mention the supreme court changes as the reason they wanted to settle….now, when you have a statement like that…that nakedly admits that they had the court in their pocket until Scalia died and they think that they won’t get another one like him, another business shill, when the next justice is appointed….this should really trouble anyone who naively thought that the court was fairly deciding cases without ideology entering into it….geez…
Snyder really is a liar….
Well….as you know, I have written a few of these about the Flint lead poisoning crisis with some conjecture that our wonderful governor Snyder was lying when he said he didn’t know what was going on there until October of last year…with the release of some new e-mails regarding the crisis, we now know he was lying through his teeth about it…he and his top aides know about the poisoning from the start and didn’t do a damn thing about it since it would have cost money to go back to the Detroit water system…this is the problem about running government like a business where the bottom line is all that counts, whether it is outsourcing good jobs to put more profit in the owner’s pockets or poisoning people to give tax cuts to the rich, government is not business and clean water for Flint’s residents is not optional no matter what it’s cost. And cost was the only consideration in this mess….and the lying by Snyder and his cronies means that Snyder has to go…geez…
11 dimensional chess….
Well…I was a little chagrined earlier in the week when a conservative repub was floated as the new supreme court justice to be appointed by Obama…but then I found that Sandoval’s name was just part of the 11 dimensional chess that Obama is playing…he is actually trolling the repubs to make sure their reactions are as terrible as they can be…making sure that they go on record as saying that no matter who is nominated, the repubs will not do their constitutional duty to advise on the legal appointment of a new justice that Obama has every right to do…thereby ensuring that we will take back the senate later in the year when the new dem president will appoint a true progressive and tilt the court back to sanity for a generation….and the cool thing is that the repubs just don’t see it…only seeing their obstructionist path that is going to lead to their doom…please proceed, repubs…
Alito injects politics into the court…again…
Well…with all of the crap that the repubs are spewing on the nomination to the supreme court that Obama has every right to do…and that they should take up…we now have the idiot Alito injecting politics into the process by sending a letter to McConnell saying that he agrees with their obstructionism…something that has NEVER happened in the history of the court but is not new for this liar. During his hearing for his approval…Alito lied through his teeth when he said that he would be a neutral arbiter of the law when his actions on the court have been anything but; he has been one of the most ideology driven justices there has ever been on the court…always ruling for business and against women whenever those cases come up…toeing the extreme right wing line that he promised he wouldn’t…just another lie. So now, with this last outrage, whenever this ass speaks, you know it is not as a neutral arbiter of the law as written…but the worst kind of activist justice that is hell bent on making this country worse for you and me…geez…
Another lurch to the right…
Well…the repub primary season has been a thing of wonder…as I wonder how they are going to try to appeal to anyone but their bigoted base as all the candidates lurch farther and farther to the right to try to appeal those troglodytes. The latest is ole Ted Cruz who yesterday said that, when he is elected, he will send US Marshals to find all of the undocumented immigrants in the country and forcibly deport them…never mind that they would be breaking up families and leaving their US citizen kids to fend for themselves…really, really Christian things to do, don’t you think? I wonder what the base would think of the additional “gubmint” workers that would be necessary to enforce this nonsense…and I wonder what his owners would think when the labor they need to make their obscene profits disappears? I do know that I just hope they keep this up…there will be so much ammunition for our side come the general that no independent could vote for these guys…geez…
The stupidity..it burns…
Well…I know that some of us…or all of us know some lawyers that are not the brightest people in the room…but we really do have a new winner for the most stupid person in the world. An Arizona lawyer…Kory Langhofer, proposes that we let Scalia vote on pending cases even though he’s dead…and his reasoning is that everyone knows how he would vote on the cases and he started hearing them, so just let John Roberts have two votes on all these cases….nevermind that the constitution says that appointments to the court are for a lifetime term…not for a lifetime and a few months after death…now, I have heard a lot of stupid stuff come out of Arizona over the years but this one wins for the burning hunk of stupidity it is…man, where do they get these guys? geez…
