The rats are deserting the ship…

Well…was just reading through some of the twitter feeds that I follow and found a really interesting tidbit that I want to share…in spite of all of the fake confidence that the Romney campaign is exuding…as evidenced by the “sugar high” comment from one of ole Mitt’s campaign managers and their assertion that they are still even, Paul Ryan today started to hedge his bets by getting campaign ads ready to try to retain his house seat…yep, even the number two on the ticket thinks they are dead meat and are going to lose and is scrambling like a rat on a sinking ship to continue to be able to feed from the public trough….whatever happened to doing the honorable thing and going home to write books or something when you lose an election…oh, repubs don’t do that…they move over to being lobbyists to grab a few million from the people who bought them in the legislature…what a bunch of crap…

Flippedy flop….it’s the Romney bop…

Well…I was laughing my butt off the other day when ole Mitt went on the Sunday shows to say that he would keep parts of Obamacare including the part that says that insurance companies couldn’t charge extra for those with preexisting conditions…but a few hours later, one of his aides went on tv to issue a statement that that was not what ole Mitt meant…what the aide said he meant was that those with with preexisting conditions who ALREADY HAVE insurance can’t be dropped by their insurance companies. So, the rest of the people who now don’t have insurance and have preexisting conditions are out of luck under the Romney plan…whatever that is since he has not said what his plan is…just like he has not said what his economic plan is either….what an empty suit…geez…

Talk about denial…

Well…some good news after the Dem convention where it appears that Obama got a 6 point bump as compared to none for ole Mitt…and he is now up by 5-6 points across the country including Ohio and Pennsylvania where the repubs thought they would win in a walk…and the repubs only response is that it is a “sugar high” from the convention and they are really ahead…what I think has happened is that the repub convention was based on lies and the people in this country are starting to see that, while the dem convention was based on a shared vision of America that is what it used to be….and can be again if we keep ole Mitt out of the White House…these are going to be short…kind of like tweets so I can get caught up…

Paul Ryan always has been and will always be a liar…

Well…I find it so funny to watch as the supposedly honest man in the repub party, Paul Ryan, is exposed as the liar that they all are over there…the latest whopper is the talking point that 1.4 million small businesses have filed for bankruptcy under Obama…and he goes on to repeat the meme that Obama is even worse than Carter…one of the new talking points that ole Paul has rolled out this week. The problem is that ole Paul is either not the detail oriented policy wonk that he has been portrayed, or he is just flat out lying when he makes these claims…the real numbers, according to the New York Times is around 47,000….I can see why he got it wrong since 1.4 million is so close to 47 thousand….I am laughing as ole Ryan’s reputation has crashed and burned every time he has opened his mouth in the last week…even the mainstream media is calling him out on this nonsense…take a look at the Matt Lauer interview from the other day and you’ll see what I mean…and even when caught in the lies, this idiot doubles down and tries to spin what he said so much I’m afraid he is going to burst into flames from the friction…geez…

Here’s a question…

Well…just had a thought pop into my head as I was skimming through the online papers a few minutes ago…with ole GW becoming invisible in the party due to his toxicity to the American people, to the point that he was only at the convention on video, why are all of the economic ideas that the repubs have presented just re-runs of what ole GW inflicted on the country? I know most Americans have short memories, but do they really believe that we can’t remember 2008? It just shows you that the modern repub party is devoid of new ideas and doesn’t have the capacity to understand what is necessary for the country to move forward…geez…

Just some stuff….

Well…haven’t really thought of a topic for this afternoon so it looks like it’s noodling time again…haven’t commented on the Clint Eastwood debacle from the convention…but Jon Stewart did a funny bit on his show about the absurdity of it all…and I don’t know how anyone could have called the speech that Romney delivered anything but pedestrian…no vision, no fire, no conviction…the guy is just a stiff…and there was no bounce from the convention so far so ole Mitt looks like he is in trouble…poor boy….it has been a day of getting ready for the trip but I’m almost done already so that is okay….what else? Let me go out and look at the papers for a minute and I’ll come back to see if I can come up with something…nope…nothing right now so I’ll stop and think for a while and then come back…

One last thing…the polls are showing that ole Mitt’s speech was the lowest rated one since they have been keeping records…I guess I was right about that one…

Some good news….

Well…I know I shortchanged you guys on the life column this morning and I may even go back and add to it…but, I’m sitting here listening to David Gilmour on TV and wanted to comment on some good news that has been coming for the past couple of days…it seems that the courts are starting to get it right on the voter suppression laws that the repubs are so fond of with three of them being struck down in the past week or so….along with the egregious redistricting in Texas where the repubs blatantly redrew lines to make sure that minorities would be shut out of governing…or being able to vote for people other than repubs…now, the appeals court needs to throw out the Pennsylvania law that was approved by a purchased repub judge to make it even better…and maybe then, we can get the Koch brothers out of the business of trying to buy laws through ALEC….what else? Oh, I find it the ultimate in hubris that ole Mitt is touring the hurricane flooded south and offering “whatever I can do to help”…is he so deluded that he thinks he’s president already? It is the people in the flooded area that will be hit hard if the idiot gets elected and FEMA gets eliminated…and let’s remember his running mate Ryan was the one who held up emergency assistance for tornado victims a few years back to score political points, saying that he would not approve it unless other things equal to the assistance was cut from the budget….remember folks, this is the party that doesn’t give a damn about anything but themselves…geez…

We don’t need no stinkin’ facts…

Well…I know I’ve been on the case of the repubs for their breathtaking lies over the past couple of months but it has been earned by them….starting with the Romney campaign responding to the media’s calling them out on the lies by saying “we are not going to let fact checkers run our campaign”….basically saying that they are going to continue to lie since the only other thing they have is tax cuts for the rich and benefit cuts and tax increases for everyone else. Then, we have ole Ryan’s speech last night that was all lies and misrepresentations that have been pointed out by many, many media outlets…even Fox news has called him a liar and when fox criticizes any repub, hell is certainly freezing over. The most egregious of ole Paul’s lies center on two things…the first being the GM plant that closed in Ryan’s hometown with Ryan saying it was Obama’s fault…but, the uncomfortable fact is that the closing was announced in the spring of 2008….months before Obama was elected…what was he supposed to do? Invent a time machine and go back to save the plant? The second huge lie centers on the cuts to Medicare PROVIDERS that is included in the ACA…again, Ryan lied when he said it was BENEFIT cuts that would mean there would be 716 billion dollars less in care for seniors because of the ACA. the irony here is that the repub touted Ryan budget does exactly the same thing with exactly the same cuts. These guys have taken lying to a whole new level that I have never seen in a presidential campaign….if they lie about this, what else are they lying about? Geez…

The liars convention…

Well…I think things may be changing in the coverage of the repubs lie machine that is their convention and that makes me smile just a little bit…it started this morning with the fact checker in the Post gutting the theme of “you didn’t build that” that the whole convention has been built around and the deliberate lies the repubs using to support it…then, we had ole Rick Santorum going on about the “gutting of the work requirement” for public support that is also a huge lie…and then moving into all of the other speeches that are still pushing the idea that tax cuts and deregulation will get the economy moving when it it exactly those policies that have gotten us to where we are. Then there are the racists that threw peanuts at an African-American camera operator and shouted “this is what we feed animals” all the while still asking for Obama’s birth certificate. But, finally, the media is starting to challenge these idiots and their war on women, their war on the truth, and their war on the American middle class….the desperation is starting to show because they know that if they don’t win this year they never will…the crazy right wing rhetoric and demographics will make the repub party just a footnote in political life here in the US and none too soon…geez…

Jerry Ford is spinning in his grave…

Well…reading the news this morning, I see there is a love-fest going on for Jerry Ford at the repub convention in Florida this week and all I could think of is that Jerry must be spinning in his grave. In today’s repub party, Jerry would never even get nominated with the right wing ideologues that have taken over and driven the party into a caricature of what it was when Jerry was in Washington. All of the things Jerry stood for…putting the country above party, compromise to get the best solution for the most people, and for the fairness that used to be what this country stood for is now anathema to the idiots that are the supposed statesmen and “brains” of the party. Jerry would laugh at Ryan, Romney, McConnell, Palin, Bachmann and the rest of them….he would rightly say that these are small politicians who have never understood what true conservatism is and who have no clue that government is compromise; not the scorched earth combat they have turned it into. He would laugh at the tea party idiots and their “keep your damn government hands off my Medicare” slogans and dismiss them as the destructive force they are…he would laugh at how easily they are manipulated by the big money interests that have as their agenda the destruction of the jobs that the tea partiers now have….

Jerry Ford was a man of integrity, honor, and duty that the idiots like Ryan and Romney could never stand next to and I find it personally offensive that the congressman that I voted for, that I held up as the model for how to govern is being used by these charlatans to make themselves look like they are the same, moderate party that Jerry belonged to….shame on you…geez…
