Well…I am just sitting here shaking my head about the deterioration of the repub party into one that is mesmerized by tactics that they feel are winners but that the American people don’t. The latest in this unending series of crises of their own making is the idea floated by the idiot Eric Cantor to raise the debt ceiling for only three months, thinking they can then use it again to try to extort budget cuts in the future. What I don’t understand is why they think it will work in three months when it’s not working now? Again, the definition of stupidity is continuing to do the same thing but expecting different results and that is exactly what is on display here…the abject stupidity of the repub “leadership” who think that confrontation and extortion are the same as governance…as much as I questioned the intelligence of the American people when they continue to vote for these morons, poll results giving the repubs in congress a single digit approval rating show that the people are finally recognizing that the repubs are the problem, not the solution for this country…and none too soon…geez…
January 18th
Well…it was a long day yesterday and I am running late because of it…and, it didn’t help that it was a cocktail night and the depression from spending 100 bucks yesterday just piled on the top if it….so if I’m not too lucid today I do have a pretty good excuse…I did think that karma had gotten back at me this morning when I went out to get the papers…when I stopped at the store and parked the car, a light was on on the dash that, with my just up eyes, I thought was the check engine light…but, when I got back in the car, it was just the light for the handbrake…yay for that….It would just be too much to have the car and the bike down at the same time…not much to do today…I am contemplating skipping working out this morning but I know the guilt will be too much since I’ve already gained almost 10 pounds without riding the bike…yeah, that is adding to the malaise that I am feeling but I am down to 1,000 calories a day and can’t go lower without some health effects….oh, well….
An eventful day…
Well…today has been one of those days where you just shake your head, smile, and marvel at how things work. It started out fine with getting out to get groceries and coming back here to work out…then, the sun came out and that little thing spurred me to get out on the bike to try to get some exercise…and set the rest of the day in motion. First, I get out about 2 miles and the bike starts to act a little weird and all of a sudden the chain breaks and I’m left to walk it back the two miles into a 15 mile an hour wind…when I got back, I went over and spent 21 bucks on a new chain that installed quite easily. Then, I got back out on the bike to test it and found that the broken chain (or wear) had torn the rear shifter up so it wouldn’t hold in any gear….so, I had to get online and spend another 27 bucks to buy a new one…I guess that 14,000 miles is not bad for the shifter or chain so I shouldn’t bitch too much….but, after removing the old shifter, all of the grease and dirt that had collected over the years fell off and some of it stuck to the bottom of my foot and I tracked the sticky, black, crap all over my place and had to spend an hour getting it out of the carpet and off my floors. So, after all that, I am really looking forward to a cocktail and some relaxing tonight…at least the car is running great….for now.
Oh, one last thing I forgot…while I was working on the shifter, I jabbed a spring all the way through my finger…in and out and it is still bleeding 3 hours later….but, other than that, not that bad of a day…I did get my fridge cleaned, too…
Ther right is just a scam to make money…
Well…there have been many articles over the last few weeks on how many of the PACs on the right are just money making schemes to separate the rubes from their money and line the pockets of the people running the PACS; ignoring the purpose that the PAC was supposed to fulfill. The latest revelation of this screwing of the masses on the right is the PAC that is controlled by the teabag darling Marco Rubio from Florida who states that the purpose of his PAC is to “help conservatives get elected”…but the dirty little secret that his PAC has been hiding is that, of the 1.7 million dollars they have raised, only 78,000 has been spent on elections…the rest going to “consultants” and overhead, essentially a slush fund to Rubio’s friends..or to put it another way, it is ‘welfare” for the chattering right wing political classes so they don’t have to get a real job or contribute to society in any way. With all of the talk of personal responsibility that comes ad nauseum from the right, we now know they don’t believe in any of the crap they are pushing…it is just a scam to keep the rubes in line and give them hope that just does not exist. Geez….
January 17th
Well…it was a day yesterday and I won at pool so that was okay…and I slept okay…well…it was tolerable anyway so I thought I’d get this one done before I get ready to go get some groceries…I am feeling so much like a slug with not being able to get out on the bike that I think I’ll go out today even if it’s snowing…and I think I’m going to start the new novel today…have been kicking the idea around for a while now and I need to give it a shot just to get my brain working again if for nothing else…and I do need to clean the fridge today since it is starting to look like a garage fridge and that just won’t cut it….okay…need to make the coffee and get ready to get the groceries…more later…
Republican hypocrisy on accountability…
Well…I have been getting ill with all of the crowing our gov here in Michigan has been doing on getting his agenda enacted and the normal repub crap of tax cuts for business on the backs of the retirees here, and their constant mantra of accountability…but the infuriating thing that I have railed about before is that whenever the repubs talk about accountability, it always for the people and groups they don’t like, like teachers, and food stamp recipients, etc. What about accountability for the 2 billion dollars they took out of the people’s pockets and gave to business here? When this idiot pushed the biggest transfer of wealth to the rich in the history of the state, there was nothing in the law that said that this gift had to be justified by any “dashboard accounting” of the number of jobs that were created…just more of the “trust us” nonsense that is the core of the repubs relationship with business. When a basic accounting is done, the estimates are coming in that say that job growth has not been affected one iota by this largess to business…with the majority of the money just going into corporate profits and executive bonuses. So, retirees here in Michigan, you have given up a vacation or a new car, or paying your bills on time just so the repubs you voted for can give that tax money to the already wealthy so they can buy the fourth or fifth car or the new summer home in Harbor Springs….I wonder if they will let you visit it? Oh, that’s right, you don’t have the money for the gas to get there…geez…
January 16th
Well…it was a day yesterday and I had a little fun going out to hang with G for a couple and watching the Wings scrimmage on tv….and T is back in town so things are right again…I did sleep okay even without the Melatonin last night so I may try to go without it and just see how it will be…I was up at 5:30, though, so there may be a nap in the future since I didn’t get to sleep until about 1 or so…and Man U plays this aft to stay in the FA cup so that will be something to do…there was a weird smell coming from the car when I got home last night so I do need to check that out today…it could have been from another car…at least I hope it was…I guess I’ll find out this morning…not much to do today…I do need to get the summer clothes put away finally and get out some of the warmer stuff since there is a big cold spell coming later in the week….more later….
Obama’s testy and combative?
Well…I was laughing my ass off yesterday when the analysis clones were out in force calling Obama’s press conference “testy and combative” with nothing but attacks on the repubs and putting forth the proposition that he would get farther if he was “more friendly” to the repubs that have spent the past 4 years attacking everything about Obama and his administration; and doing their best to not cooperate. I think Obama’s combative nature in the presser was a reaction to all of the crap and lies he has gotten from the right…they never wanted to compromise in good faith and Obama is finally learning that you can’t reason with bullies, that you need to smack them in the mouth and then maybe they will change their behaviors. I, for one, am glad he finally said enough, enough to the hypocrisy that saw the repubs raise the debt ceiling for ole GW any time the country needed it and never held it hostage to the cuts that they are screaming about now…and there is no equivalency of the dems reactions back then to the repubs now…the dems never fillibustered or put silent holds on the bills to increase the ceiling..or even threatened to do so….and may of these same repubs that saw no problem with giving GW what he wanted are leading the charge against raising the ceiling now…and their only reason is their blind, naked hatred of Obama….geez…
January 15th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday but didn’t accomplish much…and I was good last night so today is starting out better already…it looks like it is cold outside so it will be a warm up day for the car…and I am running out of dimes so it looks like I may have to start using my debit card to buy the papers which I just don’t want to do…don’t want to go to nickles…60 nickles? Nope…not going to do that….but I’m not spending any other money so I could probably afford 3 bucks on the card a day….and I don’t want to give up the last thing that makes my life have a semblance of normalcy…not much to do today…I do need to get back into the fitness routine and get some cleaning done…and get rid of the papers, again…but that is about it…I will be back later for another one if I can get my brain working better…

Well…I didn’t watch the president’s press conference but I have been seeing the quotes coming fast on twitter and one stood out and made me laugh…it’s not really funny..only in an odd way that I would think it is…”the House GOP will not collect a ransom for not crashing the American economy…” basically saying that he is not going to cut more just to keep the crazy assed repubs from hurting the American people….and I do like that he put a stake in the ground that he wasn’t going to negotiate every couple of months to keep the government running like the repubs are proposing…good for all of us…these folks are just fricking delusional…and they keep saying that we have to continue to cut, cut, cut….when there has already been 2.4 trillion dollars cut…I think Obama should just say this one thing…”do your job, Congress” and then walk away and force them to…we can only hope anyway…
