Well….someone needs to do something pretty soon or I am going to run completely out of things to write about….just haven’t been able to work up the outrage necessary to do these things justice lately….I could comment on the concerted effort on the part of police and prosecutors to cover their asses by smearing Trayvon Martin but the effort is so transparently self-serving that I can’t take it seriously….or I could comment on the open mike gaffe that Obama made a few days back talking to Medvedev where he said he’d have more flexibility to get things done after the election…and ole Mitt jumped on it as the president promising to give away our security if he’s reelected….I see it a little differently…Obama was just telling the truth of the political situation here in the US in front of the election…and truth is something that ole Mitt doesn’t even have a passing acquaintance with and can’t stand when he sees it….hmmmm…what else? That’s enough for now…I’m taking off out of here in a few to go shoot pool with Tom so it will be a while before I come back to add to this one….or I may do that sports one I talked about…

This is growth of government?
Well…haven’t been able to write much lately and I’m not sure what the cause is just yet….it could be spring fever…who knows? What I did want to talk about today is the misconception that the repubs are trying to sell that the Obama administration has expanded government regulation more that any president in history and is taking away our freedoms and strangling business…blah, blah, blah…when the opposite is true. Just compare the the costs of the last three years of ole GW’s to the first three years of Obama’s and you’ll see that the regulatory costs and the sheer number of new regulations was significantly higher under ole GW…costing business and individuals billions of dollars and piling on the red tape. I know that none of this means anything to the fact-challenged repubs…they think lies repeated often enough magically turn into the truth….and how can you argue with that?
How can ole Nolan be wrong all of the time?
Well…i was wondering why I was feeling so clean lately with not reading the newspapers in the morning and then I bought the Detroit news this morning and found out why…that rag is just a print version of Fox News and it’s commentators are just as biased and idiotic as those that pollute the airwaves. Case in point, in this mornings News, ole Nolan Finley goes off on Obama (as always) with today’s talking point that Obama is the most liberal president in generations and is allying with radical environmentalists to make sure the price of gas exceeds $5 per gallon to further his left wing, socialist ideals and is just as far to the left as the repub party has driven to the right. But the thing that ole Nolan is ignoring or just plain lying about are the analysis that have just come out that say that the Democratic party as a whole has moved to the center over the past generation; and is far to the right from where they were only 10 years ago. It is the repubs that have moved so far to the right that it just looks like the dems have moved left….look at the what the repub party has championed in the past….the EPA was formed under a repub president…the clean water act was signed by a repub president…and the individual mandate for health insurance was proposed as a counter to Clinton’s health care overhaul in the early 90′s. So, tell me Nolan, which party has moved? It sure isn’t the dems…it’s your party of the rich and connected…
There is one last thing that I wanted to say here about the passing of Andrew Breitbart…the right wing commentator who died yesterday at 43….while I vehemently disagreed with almost everything that he said, it is still tragic for any young father to leave behind a wife and children to the sorrow that his death brings…
Okay, here’s more nonsense from ole Rick…
Well…just wanted to weigh in one more time on the “snob” comment that ole Rick has been using to appeal to the repub primary voters where he lied about what President Obama said about everyone going to college:
“And so tonight, I ask every American to commit to at least one year or more of higher education or career training. This can be community college or a four-year school; vocational training or an apprenticeship. But whatever the training may be, every American will need to get more than a high school diploma. And dropping out of high school is no longer an option. It’s not just quitting on yourself, it’s quitting on your country — and this country needs and values the talents of every American.”
That last statement was from Obama…here’s one from ole Rick in 2009:
“There’s technical schools. There’s additional training, vocational training. There’s skills and apprenticeships. There’s all sorts of things that people can do to upgrade their skills, to be very productive and great workers here in America who provide for their families and build their community.”
So…the two of them are saying exactly the same thing here…and not once did Obama say that ‘everyone should go to college” as ole Rick has repeatedly stated on the campaign trail….so we have our most religious candidate breaking another commandment…make you wonder if his purported faith is just another in the lies he will tell to be elected…geez…
Oh, I do have to attribute where the quotes came from…a great article from the Washington Post from this morning…
A few short thoughts…
Well…I just wanted to comment a little on some things that really don’t have the meat to be an entire article here….yeah, I know, I’ve turned really small ideas into whole columns before but I don’t feel like it today…so, here goes…I am a little heartened by the unemployment numbers that came out the other day and my hope meter for ever finding another job went up a little but I know I have to temper it a little since this has happened before and I’m still not working…I did like the poll numbers that came out a few days ago, too…where Obama is 6-7 points ahead of ole Mitt in the general election polling but I do understand that a lot can happen in the next 10 months…one of the striking things from one of those polls is the results of a question that asked if people liked ole Mitt more the more they heard him….and 54% of the people didn’t…so now ole Mitt is going to not say anything the rest of the election cycle? Then there was the study done over the past couple of years that found that conservatives in the US are much less intelligent than the rest of the population…things that anyone would know if you ever listen to them…Oh, one last thing, the right wing idiot that was coordinating the attack by Komen on PP has resigned (or was fired)…I say good riddance….there is no place for politics in health issues, especially womens health that has been the hotbed of controversy since I was little…
I’ve already made the goal…
Well…just looked at the count for the month and realized that I’ve already made my goal of two per day for the month…but, I thought I’d do another one just for the hell of it..don’t know if I have very much to say but I’m going to say it anyway…I did get the papers out for recycling as I said I would but that is about it…I think I’m going to stay on this topic for a while…that the intelligence and memory of the people in the US must be questioned when polls come out that put Romney and Obama almost even in the general election….I can still remember the Bush years…the unfunded wars we were lied into, the erosion of our civil liberties, the shredding of the constitution, the continued concentration of wealth in the top 1% while the rest of the country struggles….let’s say it again…all of the problems we have now are a direct result of repub policies and they are promising more of the same if elected…they are planning to gut social security and medicare while giving tax breaks to the rich that will give them an AVERAGE of $146,000 cut while raising them on everyone else. No society can survive when one percent of the country controls everything….
I have one question to ask…why can’t ceo’s take only half of their outrageous pay and give pay raises to the people that work for them? This one move would put billions if not trillions of dollars into the hands of people who would spend it, increasing demand across the entire economy and putting people back to work….just saying….
Is ole Mitt delusional?
Well…this is going to be a short one to comment on one of the more delusional statements made in the past few weeks by ole Mitt…his latest attack after the Sotu speech by Obama was that Obama was “out of touch” with real Americans…okay, if you’re not laughing about that comment, you have no sense of irony…let’s go back and look at some of ole Mitt’s comments…first, we have the $10,000 dollar bet with Rick Perry at one of the debates…next, we have ole Mitt saying that almost $400K of income from speeches is “not much”, and then we have the statements that he pays all of the taxes he owed under the tax code and “not a dollar more”…when it is well know that he was running Bain capital when they (and others in the venture capital business) lobbied congress and bought themselves the law that allows them to pay less a percentage of taxes on income than anyone in the 99%. So, I’ll contend here that ole Mitt is the one that is out of touch, that he is the one who has no damn idea of what it is like to be 58 years old with too much education to find a job in this economy….go back to where you came from, Mitt…this country doesn’t need silver spoon people like you telling me how to think about the state of the country and economy…geez…
Let’s stop this nonsense…
Well…in case you haven’t heard, there is a new military spending bill wending it’s way through the congress that has a very troubling provision in it…in the guise of fighting terrorism, there are provisions in this bill that will essentially gut the constitution and make it no longer applicable to yours or my rights as citizens of the US. What this bill will allow the government to do is detain indefinitely, any US citizen, even caught on US soil who is even suspected of any connection with terror or terrorist support. The government would not have to present any proof that this person had committed any crime and the person held would have no recourse to challenge the detention…in direct contravention to the 4th amendment, and habeas corpus. This means that the president would have more power than King George the Third who we fought in the revolutionary war and could lock our citizens up in the equivalent of the Tower of London. The worst part of this is this is bi-partisan nonsense with even dems like Carl Levin of Michigan supporting this egregious destruction of our civil liberties. I need you folks to write to your legislators and Obama and tell them in no uncertain terms that you will not accept this destruction of what this country stands for…I have…geez….
One other thing…
Well…I was going to get to a couple of topics in that last one but the flow was such that I thought it should end with just the one…so, I needed to come back with another comment on maybe a little bit of shining hope that the rational folks in this country deserve…yesterday, (or the day before), Obama came out firing against the hypocrites in the repub party for protecting the Bush tax cuts for the rich, while making sure the payroll tax cut is not renewed…one that will benefit mainly the middle class. I think this is a narrative that needs to be shouted from the rooftops…that the repubs have never met a tax cut for the rich and connected that they didn’t like, and that they have never met one that benefits the middle class that they did….and that these folk have sworn to protect Grover Norquist more than they have sworn to protect the Constitution…geez…
Nolan Finley is still an idiot…
Well…it was an interesting article by ole Nolan in the Detroit News this morning where he decries the lack of civility and bi-partisanship that is coming from the Obama administration on a range of issues….and he goes on and on citing examples where Obama has ratcheted up his rhetoric against the repubs plans for the economy. Nolan, Nolan, Nolan….Obama tried bipartisanship and got nothing from it but being kicked in the teeth by you and your repub buddies, he tried conciliation and compromise but your thug party did nothing but try to shut down the government to get what Boehner called “90 percent of what the repubs wanted”. I think ole Nolan is having the same reaction that all bullies have when their victims stand up to them..they go running home to mama complaining that it’s not fair…how does that one feel Nolan? It’s just another example of the thugs in the repub party who have no solutions for the middle class, no solutions for unemployment, and no solutions for this country and they know it…so they have to do the only thing they know how to do; gin up some phony attack that will distract the voters and keep their rich buddies from paying their fair shares….geez…
